no need to apologize and no need to really explain yourself further, i've read your comments and i never got the whole "buys a lot" from them.. thats why i find it strange you got the letter to begin with..

some people don't read carefully and skim--it sucks but thats how drama often starts, when people misread, and sometimes, when people aren't clear (but in those cases, i think people should ask for clarification)

anyways, i do think its funny given that you purchase very little compare to the majority here, thus the advice to call.. and see..

and i don't think you need coach, there are tons of other brands out there..if they wrongfully accuse you--its just a shame to let them 'ban' you like that but take the high road :)

Agreed...not our place to judge whether you are a reseller or not...I personally don't care either way....I myself would be so p*ssed off at Coach for the embarrassment suffered in person at the outlet with such a ridiculous letter that I would move on to another brand, after writing a scathing letter to Coach CS, of course.:s

It's getting late at nite, perhaps I am getting a bit more sensitive.
I'm sorry to those I've offended.

but THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAS BEEN SUPPORTIVE!

I wanted to get my story out as well, just so other Coach enthuiast would be aware of what is going on. I just want to put everyone on notice. Not to scare anyone but just so people would know this is what happened to me and it might happen to you.

Of course I want you guys to know my situation -- b/c I don't want another person to go through the shock and dismay I went though b/c of my purchase history of what I've done just like I don't want anyone to get scammed either!

I believe in paying it forward -- I want you guys to know just as later down on the line, when I'm about to bid on some obvious fake unknowingly, I want someone nice to come around to tell me -- 'hey, don't buy from this person bc he/she sell fakes'
I mean that's all it is.
Not to scare anyone, but just to alert to those who cares.

Alrite, I'm going to bed.
& hope tomorrow be a better day.

Again, sorry if I scared anyone, sorry if I offended anyone.
Sorry for sharing.

I do sincerely wish you the best, and I hope that Coach will see the error in their judgement. Hopefully they will reinstate your buying power and then have the option of whether or not to continue your relationship with Coach.

Good luck and please let us know what the outcome is.

i quoted a few members that have admitted to buying a lot, and there are more who probably haven't commented but have done tons of reveals (they can't all be brought at dept stores/ebay/bonz) and while a good chunk is boutique the MAJORITY of it is outlets (seeing the outlet threads in the shopping section)

and from the past "how many coach bags/items you own" threads (not including stuff they've obviously brought for friends/family)..and that number is hugeeeeeeeeee

it makes me think that with what you're saying below, taken as 100% truth

between that, and what members are admitting with their own purchases (and trust, they buy and return a lot more then the breakdown you wrote) makes me think theres something more, otherwise there would be a ton of people who would have received the letter before you, as the letter is not new, has been around for quite some time..

i'm not sure if this means its an error on their part..or what..i just think that for you personally, you have to think whether this is something worth fighting for or not. if i was in your shoes, i'd call and leave my two cents, in a nice tone, and then see if they will do the right thing, if not, then i'd move on.

And, honestly - I'd instruct the OP to listen to YOUR advice over anyone else in the thread, as you have professional knowledge of what you are speaking of. But, you said basically the same thing a lot of us have said, so it's all good. :D

OP, I think, like you I would be inclined to return every darn purchase I ever made that still had a tag on it & I had a receipt for. But I advise you step back, breathe, give yourself time to think & perhaps talk to them, have them see the error of their position. Then return if you still want to.

Please keep us posted.

OP - PLEASE don't apologize, and please don't leave!!! I had a shiznitty experience at an outlet last fall, where I was only THREATENED with a letter by a *****-tastic SA, and I felt the same way you do (look up "Coach just lost a customer" in the search feature if you want to read the ordeal). I bombarded Coach Corporate with letters and emails and NO acknowledgment from them. I wanted to return/sell/burn/throw all my Coach in the Arkansas River, but I calmed down and didn't do it. Just relax, and come back to us. We support you! We just want to try to understand wtf they banned you. No one is trying to judge you - I think they are trying to get all the facts so they can judge Coach/the situation. :hugs: I'm so sorry you feel that you aren't welcome to share, but you ARE! Please stay! :D

there would be a lot more i'd be saying if i spoke on behalf of someone who has a 'professional knowledge'. trust me, i leave a lot out, and i would not comment ever..even twenty years from now when i've moved on through multiple jobs i'm sure...there are things you take with you to the grave.

as of the whole thread, i've been just observing, which is why a lot of what i'm saying is basically what y'all been saying except, my words are worded different, and my opinion slightly differs. i don't believe in throwing a scene, i don't believe in saying shove that..etc etc..if i were her, like said, i'd call and explain myself and my position, with the same tone, and wording used like i use here to reply, and see what they will say

and if it still holds true, this ban, then i'd simply leave

its no skin off my nose, any brand..regardless..thank goodness the ones i love lately aren't the type to send out letters..then again they are a bit less widely known/brought in masses/

sometimes i speak for myself you know :)

This is the Natural State! We don't like things thrown into our rivers!!:p

I gotta say, I am somewhat offended by this  You are making it sound as if ALL the resellers out there are Asian. You could've simply referred to them as just "resellers"....did the fact that they happen to be Asian, really matter?

I also didn't realize that using those big brown shopping bags automatically labels someone as a reseller. I often ask for those brown bags whenever I'm buying several items that cause me to have my hands full. I am by no means a reseller, and I don't think I've ever bought multiples of anything (unless it's the same bag - different colour/material kind of deal). My outlet is about 1.5 hours away, so when I do make the drive up there, I like to "stock up" and make my trip more worthwhile, as opposed to driving that far just to purchase one item. So in conclusion, I'm Asian and I sometimes use those big brown shopping bags. I would hate for other people to judge me and label me as a reseller

This sounds a little strange to me. I've always heard that Coach SA's don't work on commission? So why would they tell you something like that?

OP was not referring to Coach on the commission statement, she was making reference to other designers with regard to returns and loss of commission.

i'd also like to add that one of the things about being a good employer, to any company, any business, is knowing when to keep your mouth shut, and when you can comment, and to what degree. i'm entitled to my own opinions, and i can comment with anyone here, and should be able to without falling into the role of a "sales associate" or anything..unless i give insider info..if you notice i don't unless someone else dug it up..otherwise its very vague like "hampton's are coming back in august" but that is it. if i do any style numbers, color, lines, etc..its always to wait until someone mentions it first. and truthfully..89% of the time i've been sitting on the info that you guys dug up

thats like my new job, working in the financial business, and having to deal with files of xxx and xxx i don't comment on how they are doing NOR do i invest in their stocks, same goes for when i had a coworker who worked at the stock exchange (this was when i was still green) and naively asked her about xxx stock..it was an awkward moment for sure, i didn't realize my question was out of line, in that sense.

This is only my opinion and not based on any facts that I am aware of, but I think the manager of the outlet you shopped at passed the word to the appropriate department when your Mom could not make her mind up and did many exchanges as you stated. I personally think the local outlet initiated this process, not the Coach department that generates the letters. My own SA told me that because of the recession, resellers are bringing back returns and exchanges at an all time high. This was only after I questioned the large number of returns the lady in front of me had (she had at least a 2 dozen). My SA who has waited on me for the last 2 years, who is a doll, compained it is time consuming for them. She thought the recession was the main reason for resellers bringing so much back in recent months, simply because they could not sell the items for enough of a profit and rather than take a loss they were returning those items.

Now as far as the OP's story, I am so sorry this happened to you. I bet the person at Coach believed your Mom was taking things back to sell. I know with a trip last year to Hawaii, I could not get over the amount of goods the Asian shoppers were buying in the Coach stores. There are actually "shopping trips" from the Orient to Hawaii for the only purpose of the trip being shopping. I did see the Coach prices were really much higher than the prices in the mainland stores. After really thinking this over, I also think Coach should simply change their return policy rather than continue insulting some good customers such as the OP with these rediculous letters. I also understand where the OP is coming from when comparing Coach with other hgher priced designers. I, myself, buy Coach items as xmas and bday gifts along with items for my own use, I could never afford to buy LV or Chanel for relatives every year as gifts, I have a hard enough time buying those designer brands for myself! And when the OP states she enjoys Coach and does not worry about messing up a Coach bag as she would with a Chanel bag, well I too have the same mentality at times. Lets face it, wouldn't most of us be more inclined to be a little more protective over a $3,000 bag than a $200-$300 bag? This is not to say that Coach is less enjoyed, in fact sometimes, its more enjoyed because there is less worry involved. Lastly, Coach needs to refrain from sending these letters out to those they may think are questionable resellers and send them to only those where they are 100% certain are resellers, period. To take risks of sending them to loyal long-time customers is simply bad business and poor customer service. I was planning a trip to the outlet tomorrow, and when I go which is only several times per year, I buy quite a bit. Well, I think I will find another project for tomorrow, my taste for Coach right now is sour after reading this thread. Wake up Coach, get your act together!
AND also OP,you are not cheap, Coach gifts are fabulous gifts. I have always been tickled with receiving a Coach gift!

Wow, OP, sorry to hear you got the letter. And that's so crappy that they gave it to you there!! I would definitely call the person whose name is on that letter!!! Ask them for a better explanation and tell them what you've told us. Hope you get answers & please keep us posted. Good luck!

This is TOTAL BS!!!! Coach isn't getting even a 1/4 of the business from me now that they used to get because of the POOR treatment I received from the outlet SA's. Infact last time the DM of my outlet called me, I didn't even return her call to listen to their BS. Iused to shop my outlet 2-3 a month...now it's 2-3 times a year!!! I also recently went back to work and would have even MORE $$$$ to spend there and I simply WON'T!!!

It dosen't have to do with the letter, but it's all in the same realm of treatment!!! They tarfet the WRONG PEOPLE to treat poorly and it will catch up with them IMO. I was a LOYAL customer, now I buy gently used or NOT AT ALL. I'd be willing to bet that my outlets sales have taken a $1000.00 a month decline from me pulling my sales and they deserve it. I'd do the same thing as Baglady39 if they sent me the letter, I'd tell them to you know what!!!!

Sorry this happened, I'd follow up even if it's to just make your point that your NOT a reseller.

Find out when the store manager is working. I would calmly and collectively go into the store (during non peak hours) and ask to talk to the store manager. Explain that this letter must be a mistake, that you clearly are not a reseller, just a person who loves Coach, and that you were both embarrassed and frustrated by this letter.

You'll be in a better position to get what your want with flattery and remaining calm and collected.

Losing your cool, or insults will not.

I know this is time consuming and an extra challenge thrown your way, it truely sounds like you didn't deserve this letter and if this is the case, you should let them know !
