Ode to the bolide

I don’t have the production numbers, but my SA said that more than 100 were made making it not a “rare” bag, but a “hard to get” bag. If 100+ were made and there are 5 colorways, then at least 20 of each color were made.

My SA said they would stop making at least the current models in 2023.
Thanks for the info! So basically it's discontinued now as of 2024, whatever's out there is out there.

Does anyone know how rare a mini bolide is in barenia faubourg? If I ask my SA for one will she look at me like I’m asking for a unicorn? Given that I can’t even get her to reserve a normal one for me lol. I’ve seen a few influencers get them.
I think that it's just as rare as an Evelyne, Picotin, Mini Lindy, etc... in BF leather. H rarely produces BF leather as it is a heritage leather. BF is a play on the classic Barenia leather, but with pebbled grain. I'd say it's nearly impossible to score unless a VIP, but never say never! You can always just put it on your wishlist and let it sit there and maybe one day it'll come through!

I thought the Bolide on Wheels was a limited edition anyway? When those are gone, they're gone.
Yes, the Bolide on Wheels is a limited and special edition bag. I believe that they are no longer in production. However, H boutiques can still sell last years bags (B stamp 2023) for a short while into 2024, just to get rid of old inventory and make space for new shipments produced in 2024. So, if your boutique has a Bolide on Wheels, they still can sell it to a client.

Correct, but because it's an LE, it can't be "discontinued".

Confused... once they finish whatever production numbers they want for the Bolide on Wheels, its it over? That is, discontinued in other words?
We are heading off topic, but a discontinued bag is a bag that was in production for full season(s)and is no longer. LEs are by definition produced for a specific period; they are not production bags. Maybe (ok, for sure) this is H minutae, but you can't discontinue something that was never intended to continue  The Kelly Eclat is not discontinued; it was a limited edition. The aUn Point Sur Deux Kelly is not discontinued; it was a limited edition. Etc etc etc :shrugs:

The Story of my VIP Offer!

It all started back in December when I had an appointment with my amazing SA. My mom and I drove down to Yorkville to have lunch at Amal and an afternoon shopping at H. I went in to purchase a few items and some Christmas gifts for her. As we entered the boutique, I was greeted by Susan and placed into the queue. I slowly walked up the gorgeous spiral staircase to the second floor. I immediately noticed the new bags on display, one of which is in a single glass display case in the centre of the bag department. This extraordinarily special piece caught my attention within seconds, the limited edition Bolide on Wheels! I was in shock, Vert Fizz with Blanc, a light coloured beauty with all the spotlights shinning down on it. As we began shopping with my SA, I asked her if I could inquire about one of the bags on display. She replied, of course we can head there after we’re finished with your shoes. As we walked from the shoe department to the bag department, I point to the centre display, and began talking about the Bolide on Wheels. I mentioned that this is the 100th year anniversary of the Bolide, which is a timeless and iconic Hermès bag style. The bag truly stood out to me as it had wheels on it. I explained that the skateboard wheels are a whimsical touch to the history as the Bolide was originally designed as an automotive bag, and that my dad taught me how to skateboard in my childhood. She then proceeded to inform me that she could place it on my wishlist if I was interested and let me know when it came off display. I was over the moon, to which I replied, “Yes please, that would be wonderful if you could do that.” After, we went downstairs to the cashier and purchased all of the items we picked. We thanked my SA for her time and wished her a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

— 3 weeks later —

I arranged another appointment with my SA. She told us to come in and that she would be free for us. As we drove down to Hermès, I noticed that the sky was entirely blue and the sun was shinning bright, which I took as good luck. We entered the boutique and were greeted once again and placed into the queue. I noticed that the single display case was changed to a Micro Picotin in Ostrich, which was a great sign for my wishlist. At the time, my SA was assisting other clients, but noticed that I had arrived. We took a seat on the sofas in the bag department and waited patiently. Once she finished up with her clients, she came over and said, “Hi Matthew, OMG you look amazing, what’s the occasion?”. To which I said, “To come see you of course”. Which she joked about her not dressing for the occasion for us. Before we started our appointment, I gave her a Christmas present and a hand written card to which she loved and gave me a hug (this made my heart melt). She then invited us to have a seat at the table with the SO box, and said she’ll be right back as she walked into the back room. The amount of excitement and nerves I had was unbearable. She comes back out with an orange box and places it on the table. Gloves on, and the painfully slow unboxing starts. She lifts off the lid and flips it over and mentions that this is a blue box piece. Dust bag comes out, and slides down revealing two little handles. She then grabs the handles and pulled the bag out of the dust bag completely. To which, I released a big sigh of built up suspense and start smiling. The Limited Edition Bolide on Wheels in Vert Fizz Epsom Leather with Blanc R.M.S. wheels. She then wheeled the car to me, and I had some hands on time with it, checking out all its expertise in craftsmanship, wheels, interior and shoulder strap. She explained more information about the special car to us and mentioned that this was the only one that they received in Canada! She also mentioned that every time she passed by the bag while on display, she kept on thinking about me and how it was perfect for me (also made my heart melt). As other customers began entering the second floor, we had to put the car back into the garage, to which I replied, “Thank you so much for this VIP offer and YES, I’ll take it!” We then went down to the jewelry beauty department and picked up another item. We then paid for my items and we’re told to have a seat while she wrapped my car. My mom and I walk around the scarves and my SA comes back to us with a concealed white shopping bag and thanked us for our time and congratulated me on my brand new, Bolide on Wheels!!! I thanked her for the amazing offer and told her that I hope to see you soon! Leaving Hermès with a VIP bag, walking down Bloor Street was a surreal feeling. This is truly the epitome of Hermès shopping for me.

Hope everyone who read this enjoyed it as much as I did. Thanks!
