Having had both, Barenia and Vache Naturelle are very different when you touch them: Barenia is softer and buttery while VN is much stiffer. Could this mysterious leather be Gulliver (today's Swift)? It can be very similar to Barenia but doesn't have the Barenia fragrance and has either gold or silver stamp, depending on the hardware.

I'm a HUGE fan of Swift/Gulliver, I don't understand why it's not that popular!

Yes- don't know about your bag, but it is possible for sure. My Barenia that I bought directly from FSH has a silver stamp. I know it goes against the "rule," but unless FSH is selling fakes or mislabelling their leather, it is possible. :laugh:

Here's another. The patina and the way the scratches are presented gave me the instant impression of Barenia. The bag was also next to a boxcalf gold and another VN bag at the store so I'm pretty sure the plume is neither of those leathers.
I've also looked at my other gullivers, the plume is more buttery for sure. My other Barenia bag is not on hand for me to compare with.. Gahh.

I haven't looked back in the thread to see if you posted the stamp but this looks like Chamonix.
