Happy new year, fellow Barenia lovers! I am excited to share my new-to-me acquisition...Birkin 35 in smooth Barenia. I found her on eBay and, after a long journey from Canada (prolonged by the postal strike, Customs bureacracy, and holiday shipping rush), she finally arrived last night. She is from 2018 and was barely used - stickers still on the hardware (which I will remove!), bababebi authenticated.

Customs and/or UPS gave me a head start in developing her patina by getting what looks like an oil mark on her front... 🤨 after getting upset about it (because the shipping/customs journey was WIIIILD, so this was the final insult), I reminded myself that that's how these bags roll, and it won't be long before I've added my own scratches and dings.

I'm just so delighted by the size, the look, the smell. I was slightly worried 35 would be too big but it's exactly perfect for my needs, just as I had hoped. I told my friend this morning that no one *needs* a Birkin...but I've never experienced a workhorse bag so beautifully and well constructed, and I'm just so over the moon to have her. I've been a long-time Hermès and Birkin lover but only started shopping there last year. The more I read and lurk and learn about the brand, the more I've realized I really prefer vintage bags and heritage leathers, which means going pre-loved really makes the most sense for me. I was able to find a beautiful vintage Kelly in box leather in Paris last year, and then this find on eBay came out of nowhere, so I had to pull the trigger. 🤩 Might have a bit of purse peace (for now!). Not sure what I'll tell my SA about my wishlist when I see him next. 🤣

Thanks for sharing all of your lovely bags and knowledge here! It's been so helpful.

So happy for you, enjoy it in good health; your bag’s twin is sitting beside me right now!

I know those of us who are fans of barenia will understand, but these previous two examples really support my idea that bags in this leather and this natural tone are the closest to universal leather bags that you can get. They are just beautiful pick up and go leather bags - the colour does not seem important. With the exception of the very specific evening or mourning (sic) occasion they work with anything. As has been suggested, they are almost 'what more could you want?'
They just look so right.

The condition is amazing! There are some real treasures to be found out there.
Condition has deteriorated or rather changed by now … meaning I use it quite a lot and it got some scratches erc - but it was nearly untouched when I got it. The glow of the leather though is getting more beautiful every day.

There really are great finds - if you are both patient and a bit lucky 🍀 . I have been on the look-out for this bag for about or more than 5 or 8 years though (also because I did not want to pay more than current boutique prices for heritage leathers) and wanted either a K28 or K32 sellier.

I was going to say, I bet it's even more beautiful now! I saw a stunning used Hermès saddle for sale yesterday - I was absolutely gobsmacked by its patina. Hoping mine will look half that beautiful one day!

And yes, luck for sure plays a huge part in the hunt. Having to wait 5 or 8 years for just the right thing at the right price makes the acquisition all the more sweet!

I am sure your bag will also become more beautiful and personal to you over the next years and months! 😊 It is like embarking on a Journey… together.

Sharing the latest addition to my collection which took me awhile to find - Halzan 31 in Barenia / Potiron Swift! Never thought I would like an orange-y tone but Potiron is a nice orange-brownish hue that complements the Fauve Barenia perfectly imo… and the Halzan is such an understated and under the radar bag, I’m totally in love!

Couldn’t resist taking a Barenia “family photo” as well  now all that’s missing for me to feel complete is a B30/B35… :graucho: thanks for letting me share!

I love them. I want a Kelly in Barenia

Just sharing a photo of my little workhorse out and about this weekend. The wine was added for express purpose of the photo opp 🤪 but I did enjoy the realization that my Birkin was the perfect vessel to carry the flowers while my grocery bags were otherwise full. I remain so enamored with this leather! And love how it gleams in the sun. Still getting over my shyness about carrying a designer bag (you just don't see a lot where I live - at least not in the circles I run) but it sure has come in handy a few times now! B35 was a great choice for me.
