Dear all,
after reading lots of the thread I would love to share my anticipation for my (hopefully soon new to me) smooth Fauve Barenia 32 Kelly sellier - both the 28 and the 32 have been on my list for soooo long. It is a square c, PHW and will hopefully join my little family of barenia bags soon. I found it at a Japanese reseller online and it is right now in its way home to me. Naturally, I am a bit nervous but I will have it authenticated once it arrives. Could be returned, just in case… but I hope to save myself the drama with getting the import tax back (in my country you have to do this, not the seller).

While there seem to be some few (padded) and normal K25 and very very few K28 in the boutiques, I did not hear about a new K32 in smooth fauve barenia in ages. Did you?

Beside my Black B40 in barenia I plan to use it as my workhorse bag. It is so funny: Any other leather makes me a tiny bit nervous but for barenia I could not care less about rain, scratches, etc.

By the way: Did any of you see /hear about a k28 in black smooth barenia in the last years in the boutique? Would be my holy grail, preferably in sellier. My SA told me basically to forget about it - and she already got me quite some rare heritage leather bags.

Thanks for letting me (nervously) share

Congrats on a lovely bag!
My SA in Paris stated that they have a great deal of difficulty ( if not impossible) finding and selecting a perfect enough skin for larger bags at this time. Hence the K25s, but none larger. If they have any larger perfect skins, they will go to Horizons.
So you were smart, found a bag you love, and went with it-enjoy!

Hi, I’m a rather noob here and cross-posting photos of smooth barenia C18 to get some insights. I purchased a barenia c18 in excellent condition from fashiophile, but there are a few indented lines that were not disclosed.

I am not so bothered by those light scratches/scuffs on the bag or the scratches on the H buckle per se, but i am not really sure how the pressure lines/indentations will age? I am concerned whether the pressure marks won’t develop patina well and will look even more noticeable over time. I was reading that the body oils and touching from normal use can be one of the key factors of the patina process. Theoretically, the indented areas won’t be exposed as much? I appreciate any help on this question. TIA!

I have vintage barenia, and I find it to be quite rugged. If you are very concerned, perhaps ask @docride on her Lazarus thread? https://forum.purseblog.com/threads...read-can-this-hermes-be-saved.972522/page-103
i will say that the Fauve barenia I have had (a Fauve 32HAC and a 35trim) patinated quite well, but the 32HAC was treated by @docride to ensure even patination. The trim patina was pretty even from the start. I currently have a 30B noir, treated by @docride that is so hardy, I use it as my rain bag. But, if these imperfections really bother you, I might recommend returning and skip smooth barenia altogether. I should add that my preloved barenia was always found at a bargain price which colored my opinion. Hope it works out :)

Congratulations! Is it brushed PHW? Square C could be!

I have not seen black Barenia in boutique in years. Ébène occasionally but black no, sadly. As is usual with Hermès, tough, anything can happen.

This is exactly what I was told as well. No more large Barenia bags.
We do have at least one member here who was offered a K28 Barenia from boutique this week, so, there are a few 28s either still in production or still in stock.

Yes, I think it is according to the pictures. I know this is quite special, but I would actually have preferred the shiny hardware a tiny bit over the brushed one this time, if I had had the choice.

But I do still like it a lot this way!

I have seen this amazing K28 here, too, and it gave me some hope as I could not believe it at first . So happy the tpf member actually got it and posted some pics of the beauty to enjoy!

If your other Barenia bags are shiny HW, though, it's a nice addition! I love BPHW on Fauve Barenia but only have it on my HAC, which is currently "in the shop".

Unrelated.....Speaking of Barenia and spa, my HAC got caught in the rain literally on the way to after-sales care (sudden downpour). I didn't expect the receiving staff to be as freaked out about the rain spots as they were: I have never had an issue with Barenia and rain. The bag seemed to be drying off nicely while I was signing it in. The email I received with my spa quote, though, noted: "Les taches d'eau ne partiront pas" - the water spots won't go away - so now I am a bit worried.

My other barenia items are mixed in terms of hardware - but somehow I seem to have a karma for brushed hardware, this would be the 3rd, so shiny would have been a nice change … But, in general I am not so much focused on HW, as long as it fits the bag itself. And with fauve barenia, GHW, PHW and BPHW all look amazing.

Your HAC - This sounds indeed a bit worrisome- all my barenia stuff gets rained on quite frequently and sometimes heavily, too, and there was never an issue with drying completely off… I do very much cross my fingers for you and feel with you ! But, again, Hermes spa sometimes sees things on my bags that I never noticed, not sure if they use a lense on the bag. So, maybe, this is something that you would not have spotted bare-eyed?

Which colour is it?

It's Fauve. I know that H spa will often way understate achievable results: the email also says (translated) "the results are without guarantee and we cannot restore the leather to its original appearance", which I think is boilerplate - I'm pretty sure I've seen that language whenever I spa a bag. The thing is that the bag wasn't in bad shape to begin with - just scratches, slight darkening, a lock smiley, etc. I started doing some cleaning myself using water, and that didn't leave any marks at all - so feels like it should be ok 😨 perhaps they are referring to the existing marks, which could be from anything - it's a 90s bag.

I should have asked them to leave the lock smiley! I actually like those on saddle leathers :)

I am so much crossing my fingers for you! Regarding the text - this is also word by word what I got on the „it’s ready“ email when I recently gave away my also quite loved saddle leather (VN) from the 90s for spa (and, I just checked, in a very similar wording, for my partners tie). Haven’t picked it up yet, though.

Hi dear!
Do you think a kelly sellier 28 barenia phw is redondant to a 28 retourne in gold? Also PHW ?
I got this offer. Love barenia but dont want too much repetition
Thanks for your advice

ETA so that whitebus can leave me alone..
If it was a birkin it would be easy but as I already have a gold kelly, I am having doubts
