Above the Fray: Hermes Die-Hards Belly Up to the Scarf Bar

Wednesday, March 25, 2009, by Izzy Grinspan

From the article:

Other prices: Belts were 40% off, which meant non-leather was around $200 and leather was near $400. Shoes ran the gamut from $1770 snakeskin heels (down from $4,425) to $730 boots (down from $1075) to little goddess sandals for $234 (down from $390.) We had a brief romance with a very cute print bikini for $260 (down from $650) but couldn't find anything terribly enticing in the housewares section, where even the tiniest tumbler was $120. (However, if you're in the market for an Hermès paperweight, there was a lovely one for only $615, marked down from $2000.)

They had Saint Louis paperweights on sale for 70% off?!? I was depressed when I first heard descriptions of the merchandise, but now I'm just despondent.

So my iphone was giving me issues!

Anyways, the most important part! EYECANDY!

More at my chanello as listed on my signature.

I had a WONDERFUL time at the sale today! I bought a Valparaiso in black, and a TPM Garden Party in toile with brown leather. I'll post pictures soon.

I met up with Perianimal at the sale. We each shopped on our own, then met up later for lunch, then went to the Madison Ave. store.

There were a lot of bags, and I wanted to stay longer because they kept putting new styles out, mostly in the fabric/leather group. It was IMO, well worth going to.:tup:

Just a few goodies I got from the sale. I needed a few casual mommy bags so I ended up picking up another garden party (wool and leather material) and the small valparaiso....both at 70% off. Also picked up a few scarves...the indian dust, bolduc plisse and a vos crayons plisse. Sorry for the picture quality... I had to use my camera phone since I can't find the usb cable for my digital camera.

JP824 - we are GP twins! i love the wool and use her constantly for work travel now.

I was one of the first people in today, at about 10 am and I found a really nice belt with a silver H buckle. It was one of the smaller H buckles, with a vertical stripe pattern (silver) on it, with a reversible brown/black leather belt! it was only $300, cheaper than the other belts which didnt even have the H buckle.
I also got a pair of shoes-- "Oran box" H sandal, in brown leather, studded with metal rivets, they were originally 725, i got them for $445.
they only had two pairs, both in my size, and everyone else was trying to grab them from me haha!!
overall their bag selection wasnt too great (i already got a garden party last september), and they had one brown leather nice wallet ("Bearn") for $1500, marked down from $2500 (i think), but i passed on it, i wasnt crazy.
their mens ties selection is great though i got a couple for my father, very cute with "H" letter pattern.
all in all i wasnt that amazed by the selection and didnt think it was worthy of going all out and shopping crazy.
i was so mad, no enamels!!

I know, Im always hoping they will one day have them!!
I even went around and asked a bunch of the people that worked there! (theyre really nice actually, one guy actually tried the colognes on himself and let me smell and see if i liked them !)
oh also, FYI for anyone whos interested, they had a really cool bag,not sure the name, but it was an orangish color, ostrich leather, with two long straps, i think it was $6000 if i remember correctly. Nice, but I'd rather get a birkin for an extra 2 thousand

Also, I was at the Hermes store in Bergen County, NJ (Riverside Shops) Sunday and they had two gorgeous birkins!! a 30 cm orange one, with palladium hardware for 8,250.
and the other one was my fave, a 35 cm light blue (looked like "blue jean") birkin with palladium hardware!! gorgeous bag!! it was $8,750
they also had a dark purple croc birkin with diamond embossed hardware if anyones interested, check it out, its probably still there!
(im only a freshman in college, a bit too young to buy a birkin!)
