Nordstrom Return Policy Thread!!

I think Nordstrom is about to get more strict with their return policy. The girl at the customer service desk told me they will no longer be taking returns at the customer service desk starting at the end of this month. The associates in the designated department will handle all returns and I'm thinking the associates will have the power to refuse returns as well. Some of them already do in the shoes and handbags department now it might be across the board.

I do my mail order returns at customer service so that's irritating. But I guess I understand why with so many scammers.

While waiting in line I've seen many questionable returns no box no receipt no info on file and they always want cash back. I just find it hard to believe no record of purchase at all. ?

When I returned any bags they always had a rep come up to check out my return. I didn't care but going to dept to dept for mail order returns will be annoying.

Scammers ruin everything !

I need everyone's opinion. I bought a La Prairie Cellular Power Charge Night Serum at Nordies about two months ago. Threw away the receipt and the box with the sticker on it and I discover that the cream side has turned yellow. I'm having a meltdown because I've spent so much money on this item but I was stupid enough to throw away the box and the receipt to exchange the item. I don't even know if they will. Has anyone ever had any experience with this? I'm so scared of asking them for an exchange without the needed materials

Depends on the SA, but if you don't have proof of purchase, they may not take it back. Did you pay with credit card? If so they can look up the transaction by swiping your card and refund you if they can find it.

No I always pay in cash which is why its such a problem now. I guess I'll have to try but I feel mortified when returning items.

They'll probably take it back but they're going to flag your info when they put it in the computer when they ask for your ID and depending on how many returns you've had in the last 6 months, you might receive a banned letter in the mail banning you from shopping at Nordstrom.

It appears to me that you would have more success with a defective product if you went tothe manufacturer rather than Nordstrom...Without a receipt or credit transaction, you are really asking alot of the store...I would contact La Prarie and explain the problem...

This would actually be my first time returning to nordstrom so I don't know the whole process. And katlun, I didn't think of that! I think they might have! I'm going to check now to see if they did or if I just asked for a paper copy. Thanks for the suggestion!

You should call La Prairie and ask them about it first because it is possible that discoloration is normal and not indicative of bad product. And if it is they might offer to replace it for you.

Few Nordstrom questions:

I used to be able to make Nordstrom Rack returns at Nordstroms as long as I had the receipt. In fact, I used to work at Nordstrom and I did them all the time. HR had trained my group that it was fine.

I went in today to make an exchange (of Nordstrom Rack items for Nordstrom items) and was told that they can't do this. I told her that as a customer, I had been able to do it before (major lie because I meant as an associate I had done them before for customers). Then she said that they can't be doing that because it was too expensive for them to be shipping items between stores. That they prefer it be taken to the Rack. She called customer service and rather than ask if it was allowed, she asked if "we prefer" customers to take it back to the store. That bothered me because that isn't even what I was asking. It is as if she was fishing for a specific answer by guiding the rep on the phone with her choice of words saying "do we prefer" rather than "are we allowed."

It just really bothered me especially when I know it can be done (or maybe used to) but I'm not sure if it is the store enforcing that policy or the SA just didn't want to do it and was fishing for a specific answer. Kind of made me just want to buy my stuff online rather than in store tbh. Also, the shipping associates ship (or used to if this is a new policy) items grouped together back to the closest Rack store. So for her to use the excuse that "we'd be losing money shipping them just for you" seems a bit much.

Anyone have a more solid answer or is it possible this is just a individual store policy?
