Nordstrom Return Policy Thread!!

If you were dealing with a boutique, you should worry about the ethics of timeliness. This is Nordstroms - a large corporation that can easily absorb our mistakes in return for our return business. Return the items and be charming while doing so. The sales clerk will not care if being treated kindly.

I have a Nordstrom Rack return question.

I got a pair of shoes a few weeks ago that I thought I wanted to keep, so I removed the price sticker. After trying them on again, I realized that they are too big and I want to return them. I have an emailed receipt, it's been less than 30 days, and I did not wear the shoes outside. There are still clear size stickers on the bottom of the shoes that show they are in 'new' condition.

Can I return these shoes even though I removed the price sticker? They did not come with a box.

And you have to wonder, does the commission that the SA earns get deducted
after an item is returned after a period of a year??

If that is the case, I would not return an item especially if I am getting "perks"...

If the original SA still works at Nordstrom, yes it does get deducted.

Even if you return it at another store, that employee still takes a hit.

That's why you get returns with a smile. Many times, dishonest SAs will return the items against the original SA, and take credit/commission for the exchange.

I wouldn't feel comfortable returning anything after a year, even if it has never been worn. I think that is just taking advantage of the generous return policy, in my opinion.

As long as you are being honest and abiding by the policies THEY created, i see nothing wrong with it.

I got a bag as a gift.. It is a designer they carry.. Had the designer tag on it but no store tag..Clearly never used.. It was from a relative so it was touchy to ask for a gift receipt.. I went in and just said. Not sure if it is from here, but i checked online and you do carry the bag.. SA checked herself and said.. No problem.. I can return it but i can only give you a gift card... I was happy with that and picked out something i liked a lot better.

Does anyone know what happens if you return something which you used Nordstrom notes to buy? Do they reissue the Nordstrom notes later or give you a GC in the amount of the notes?

They refund the total amount of your purchase. For example if your item was $100 total and you used a $20 note bringing it down to $80, you get refunded the $100. The note will not get reissued.

OP, ITA with what OlgaMUA said but I also see where people are coming from as far as if you bought the item with your favorite SA.

I have a question about more of an exchange, rather than a return. I bought several pairs of reva flats about a year and a half ago. The leather on one of the pairs has come off in several places. If I were to take them back to Nordstrom, could they exchange them for me? I don't want a return, I just want to get another pair, as they were quite expensive.

Are they wearing because of use? That's what happens with shoes. Why would you expect to get brand new shoes in exchange for 18-month old used ones?

I guess I should have been slightly more clear. I have worn them maybe only 10 times or so. I haven't worn them for months due to winter weather and I went to wear them again recently and strips of leather had completely started peeling off. Not just small bits.

hello all,

I love shopping at Nordstrom and I think I shop online (i hate dealing with parking at malls) once every other month or so and when i buy, i buy like 2-10 items, depends on what I see and how much the items cost. :-)

Since i buy things online, some times the clothing might not fit me so I just end up returning the items (sometimes a few and sometimes all of them) WITH a receipt within 1-2 weeks after receiving the items. I never wear them. I just try them on and if they don't fit or don't like something about it, i just return it.

So my good friend was asking me where I shop and I told him Nordstroms. I told him my strategy and how it works around my schedule and he said that i need to be careful about returning too many things. That I might get in trouble or even banned from returning anything. BUt I told him that my returns are legit and I take them back WITH a receipt showing that I paid for them. How can I get in trouble for doing that? Again, i never keep the clothes and wear them and then return them a few months later. As soon as I get them, if i dont want them, I just return them within a couple weeks.

So what do you guys think? is my friend overreacting? or should I really be careful?

I just wanted to answer my question in case anyone else has a similar situation.

I took the shoes back to Nordstrom Rack (new, but without the price tag) with the emailed receipt and I was able to return them with no problem.

They will probably question why you are returning them after such a lengthy period of time and might even refuse to exchange them. I have heard that shoes & handbags could possibly not be accepted for returns/exchanges. If you make a fuss about it, they might go ahead with the exchange however they will put you on the "banned" list which will be a letter sent to you banning you from shopping at Nordstrom.

Your friend is correct. Frequent returns/exchanges especially large sum amounts will cause you to be placed on the "banned" list. It also doesn't matter if you don't go to the same store or if its an on-line purchase as they all are under one system. So all your returns/exchanges and where they took place will show up in the system when they type in your info. So yes be careful.
