In law school, I took a negotiations class, and the professor's main point is that it can't hurt to ask. And the example he used was a woman asking at Neiman's if she can get a better price on a shirt. And she did, because the shirt was about to be marked down in a few days.

I think it's fine. All you're doing is asking if Nordstrom will honor the sale price, and if the sales assistant or manager says no, so be it.

I bought some shoes from Piperlime once during a sale. They were too small, and the sale had ended. When I called to ask about the return process, the representative offered, without my asking, to give me the same price on a bigger size. My co-worker recently ordered a jacket from Piperlime, during a 20% off sale, that was too small. When she called about it, the bigger size was out of stock. The representative put a note in her account that Piperlime will honor the 20% off whenever the jacket is back in stock. For some companies, this is apparently the policy, and I don't think it's a big deal to simply ask a question.

Thanks for sharing your experience! I'll go ahead and ask and hope it goes well! If not, its no big deal!

I would pay the difference if I had to, however I was just wondering how the pricing would work. I don't by any means demand that they give me 25% off .

I hope I wasn't coming off rude in my post either! I don't think you were demanding at all, but I do think it is unlikely you'll get the discount. However, as someone mentioned, it doesn't hurt to ask. Who knows, maybe you'll get lucky and receive the discount!

Hey! I don't think you were trying to be rude at all. Maybe I was just taking taking the less-than-optimistic views too seriously. Lol I try to have a good mind-set even if the outcome is unlikely!
Well a quick update! Today I went into Nordstroms and asked the SA about my situation and she said they don't honor the discount and I would need to wait for the next F&F event. (bummer) But I just tried a Live Chat since that's how I originally got my price match and they happily honored the price match with no questions asked! So I guess live chat specialists are more leanient than in store SAs for future reference! Thanks for your feedback!:smile1:

That's great it worked out for you. I actually have found it hit or miss. I've been denied a price adjustment (within 30 days) by SA's because it was outside their 14 day policy (even though it still had tags--I could essentially return/rebuy), but then just recently I had an SA honor a price adjustment for a designer item that went on further discount. So it really can't hurt to ask--their policy is all over the place and everyone says something different.

I bought a pair of shoes that was shipped from a nordstrom store , it brand new never Worn there was no return label in the box , can I return to a nordstrom rack store ? Since it easier for me .

I never had luck with this... I tried to return some clothes to NR before but the Sa's there refused it.. Maybe you might have better luck? I would recommend calling the store and see if they accept Nordstrom returns before you make the trip.

I was wondering if anyone has had any problems with the Nordstrom price matching policy for pre-order items. I placed the order back in October 2012 and the estimated ship date was Feb 15, 2013. To this day, I have not received a shipment notification but it has not been canceled. I have found the same item at Matches UK for cheaper but due to shipping and duties I'd rather keep the order at Nordstrom. I tried to get a price match for the Matches UK price, but the SA on the live chat said that I could not get the price match after 2 weeks of the sale. However, I have not even been charged for this item, so technically the sale has not happened. I could not have even asked for a price match back in October because no one else was carrying the item. I asked for the live chat SA to have her supervisor contact me.

Anyone else ever heard of this?

I used to work at a Nordstrom Rack (and everything Nordstrom, lol I love them) ANYWAYS, you can return full line purchases at the Customer Service stations. The CS station should be separate from where the cashier's are located, often towards the back of the store. But not all NR locations have this, so check if the one near you does. The CS stations will operate in more of a corporate manner, and should be able to accept returns from the full line.

thank you. I called nordstrom rack. they said yes. :smile1:

I am a very loyal Nordstrom shopper and do about 90% of my shopping with them (quite a lot). Sometimes I've bought things that I believe will get worn, only to find later that they've sat in my closet, unworn with tags on. Some of these items are from over a year ago, all are in perfect condition but not in season anymore. I know that given their generous return policy they will take them back, but I don't want to abuse their return policy and get on their "black" list. Do you think it's appropriate to bring items back after this amount of time, or should I just suck it up and view it as a loss?

Thanks very much.

I think you should return the items. There's no sense in keeping things you won't use with their generous return policy. I didn't think they had a "black" list. Does something like that really exist?

Unless you paid with your nordstrom card, I don't see how they could "black list" you. It also depends on the amount of items your returning...

But, if you're really that worried about being black listed, just return half of the items you want to return rather than all of it?
