Nordstrom Return Policy Thread!!

I misunderstood and I apologize. I would never advocate someone returning good merchandise that they used but are simply bored of or regret. That's no better than using Nordstrom as a free clothing rental for events.

Absolutely.

I think it's disgusting to return used stuff just because people regret it or don't need it anymore. I know some folks who return stuff after using it multiple times and even WASHING it a couple of times, which is simply a gross thing to do. I absolutely abhor such practices and no store should brook such returns. In fact, stores should ban such customers. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but you have the separate the wheat from the chaff.

Like I've said, I've in the past received stuff which looked slightly used and it didn't bother me much, but I'd NEVER accept something which looks awful and overused.

I also agree that abusing the return policy is not the best thing to do. However, as someone who lives in AZ and used to shop at Last Chance occasionally (it's the bargain basement for Nords) I ended up finding several great items due to these returns. I have a few pairs of shoes and clutches that are the direct result of someone returning a defective item. In all cases these items just needed a quick trip to the repair shop, a few dollars and viola, good as new! Now of course, I also have seen the full extent of what people will return (incredibly stained items, jeans with holes in the knees/bum, pilled sweaters, scuffed shoes etc) and find it appalling! But those few items I scored when I used to shop there were a nice benefit of the lax policy and I'm guessing Nords didn't lose any money on those specific returns.

Hi ladies I have a question! So last month my bf bought me a silver MK watch for xmas which nordstrom price matched for us with the macys f&f sale, but I find it too heavy for my taste and everyday wear and want to exchange it for the same style but in the resin/acrylic wristband material. Would there be any issue with an exchange if I had the watch band resized already ? I still have the original links that the jeweler removed . And also, would I be able to Exchange without paying extra if the watch is equal price even though the macys sale is over? I don't want to have to pay $50 more! Any help would be great! Thanks ladies!

I'm not sure about paying extra but I know that Nordstrom does take returns for watches that have been resized. Future reference, Nordstrom resizes watches you buy from them for free :)

Why do you think Nordstroms should give you the F&F discount on another item? If you went back to Macy's (had you purchased there), they wouldn't give you the 25% discount on another item.

The discount is valid during the sale period only.

I have posted here against returning used items. I am against it. But I had a weird experience -- I bought my GD boots for her birthday. She tried them on in my house on the carpet and they were too tight. I returned them to get her another pair. The SA glanced at the bottom and put them on the counter behind her. I asked what she was doing and she said that they couldn't be resold because they were used! I was mortified and told her they were never worn at all, except to be tried on. She shrugged and made my exchange, but the boots remained behind her on the counter. I still feel embarrassed and didn't do anything wrong.

I agree. IMO there is nothing wrong with returning the watch, assuming it is within the reasonable 30 day window. However, expecting the same discount (which is most likely no longer in effect at Macy's) to be honored is unreasonable. I think the poster will have to decide how much they want the new watch--do they want it enough to pay the difference?

I would pay the difference if I had to, however I was just wondering how the pricing would work. I don't by any means demand that they give me 25% off .

To clarify my original question, I never demanded that nordstroms had to give me a discount or felt obligated to receive one. That is why I ASKED if they would honor the original price I purchased it at or not. My reasoning being, example: I purchased jeans at tillys once during their sale, and needed to exchange for a different size the week after. Even though the promotion ended and the pants were now their more expensive original price, they scanned the receipt and processed an exchange without ringing me up at the new price even though the sale had ended . I asked tpf for advice on nordstroms return policy since I'm unfamiliar, but I didn't expect to be feeling attacked with negativity. Thanks

In law school, I took a negotiations class, and the professor's main point is that it can't hurt to ask. And the example he used was a woman asking at Neiman's if she can get a better price on a shirt. And she did, because the shirt was about to be marked down in a few days.

I think it's fine. All you're doing is asking if Nordstrom will honor the sale price, and if the sales assistant or manager says no, so be it.

I bought some shoes from Piperlime once during a sale. They were too small, and the sale had ended. When I called to ask about the return process, the representative offered, without my asking, to give me the same price on a bigger size. My co-worker recently ordered a jacket from Piperlime, during a 20% off sale, that was too small. When she called about it, the bigger size was out of stock. The representative put a note in her account that Piperlime will honor the 20% off whenever the jacket is back in stock. For some companies, this is apparently the policy, and I don't think it's a big deal to simply ask a question.

My response wasn't an attack and I'm sorry you felt that way.

The example you gave regarding a pair of jeans is different because you're doing an even exchange -- exact same item just different sizes. Although for inventory purposes, stores often do the transaction as a return/re-purchase, it's just done as a way to keep their inventory control accurate.

There's a difference between ^^^^ that and returning a watch and wanting the same discount on a completely different style, different price, difference material, etc.

Okay then. Sorry I misunderstood your tone. Ill just try my luck and ask if theyll honor it for me since the other item is of equal value. Thanks for the inventory explanation though ! Ive never worked in a retail store didnt understand how retail and Inventory works
