Nordstrom Return Policy Thread!!

If you are worried you will be black listed I think you know the answer to your question. Should you take something back that you purchased a year or more ago. NO! You are taking advantage of our wonderful store (Nordstrom) and the last thing that we want is to have them change their policies because of this issue. I feel that 6 months or less is a reasonable amount of time giving Nordstrom the opportunity to sell the merchandise to someone that will utilize it. If there is legitimately something wrong with the product, that is a different matter and you should have the option to return it for a year or more. PLEASE do not take advantage, it is just wrong!

I think the "black list" would be more for serial returners, rather than someone who returns an item after a long time. And I think the SAs would be annoyed if someone wore something and brought it back smelling of perspiration or something like that.
If you have several items that you've had for over a year, I might be kind of reluctant. Maybe you could wear some and return one or two that cost enough to where it would be worth it.

If I have something that I have had for as long as 6 months, even with tags, I donate the item to one of the local charities where I live...To return after so long, is imo taking advantage...Just my opinion...

hello all,

I love shopping at Nordstrom and I think I shop online (i hate dealing with parking at malls) once every other month or so and when i buy, i buy like 2-10 items, depends on what I see and how much the items cost. :-)

Since i buy things online, some times the clothing might not fit me so I just end up returning the items (sometimes a few and sometimes all of them) WITH a receipt within 1-2 weeks after receiving the items. I never wear them. I just try them on and if they don't fit or don't like something about it, i just return it.

So my good friend was asking me where I shop and I told him Nordstroms. I told him my strategy and how it works around my schedule and he said that i need to be careful about returning too many things. That I might get in trouble or even banned from returning anything. BUt I told him that my returns are legit and I take them back WITH a receipt showing that I paid for them. How can I get in trouble for doing that? Again, i never keep the clothes and wear them and then return them a few months later. As soon as I get them, if i dont want them, I just return them within a couple weeks.

So what do you guys think? is my friend overreacting? or should I really be careful?

I think you'll be fine. I think it's more about patterns and how you pay. If you are using gift cards or lots of different credit cards then returning for cash, that is a red flag. Just keep your returns on the card or method you bought them with.

I would recommend getting a nordstrom card and using that exclusively at nordstrom if you are concerned about getting banned. They trust cardholders a lot more because a. it is cheaper for them as a company to take and return your money, and b. because they have more of your personal information which sketchy people aren't as willing to give out.

I work at Nordstrom and as long as you don't act suspicious and stay honest about everything, you'll be fine. Believe it or not, we can tell when something is fishy-- honest people give off good vibes and vice versa.

Plus, if you got it online the SA isn't getting a chunk out of their commission with the return so they won't care as much.

They will probably question why you are returning them after such a lengthy period of time and might even refuse to exchange them. I have heard that shoes & handbags could possibly not be accepted for returns/exchanges. If you make a fuss about it, they might go ahead with the exchange however they will put you on the "banned" list which will be a letter sent to you banning you from shopping at Nordstrom.

Your friend is correct. Frequent returns/exchanges especially large sum amounts will cause you to be placed on the "banned" list. It also doesn't matter if you don't go to the same store or if its an on-line purchase as they all are under one system. So all your returns/exchanges and where they took place will show up in the system when they type in your info. So yes be careful.

This sounds really over the top.

I mean I have bought my daughter a few pair of TOMS and I have returned a few pair and I have not had any questions or problems in fact when I return them I end up getting another size for her. Just sharing my experience...

If you have a Nordstrom card, if you forget your receipt, they can easily look up your transactions using this card. I always lose my receipts (both the paper and e-receipts), so when I return something to them WITHOUT a receipt, I always tell them I paid with my Nordstrom debit and they can look up the transaction through this card. They just swipe it and boom! The transaction information would appear on their screen. Then I was able to return it without problems.

Definitely get the card, it's worth every penny. The only problem I have with this card though, is the Nordstrom Notes take FOREVER to deliver to your house. I got the message on the 17th of July that I'll be receiving one, it's now 8/2 and it's still hasn't arrived yet. I'm getting so impatient. :(

Hi, I bought a watch from nordstorm rack about a year ago. I have never used it or took it out of my jewelery box. I took it out yesterday to get sized , but it slipped out of my hand to the make up counter instead and it broke. It was ceramic watch . What can I do? Can they fix it? or should I go to the company ( emperio armani ) and ask them help me out. :(

Since you've had it a year and you were responsible for dropping and breaking it, I don't think you are expecting Norstrom's to replace it or repair it.

If it has the paperwork that it came with, it might have information on where to send it for repairs.

Often major watch companies make watches for various companies. In this case, EA watches are made by Fossil.

You might try calling Fossil but I'm guessing that they'll refer you to a jeweler.

+1

I agree. Your best option is to take it to a jeweler to fix.

Yes, I am just don't know where to take it to fix. It's such a waste of a beautiful watch. I am gonna take it to fossil repair service, and see what they said. Hopefully they want to help me, I don't mind if I have to pay.
