Embarrassing quick question for ya'll:

I just purchased a pair of Christian Louboutin's at Nordstroms this evening. I didn't inspect them well but when I got home I noticed that the inside has a ton of dirt marks. The SA said they were his last pair so I'm assuming a lot of people tried them on. I want to return them but I don't want to run into the SA again. Are there different shifts for SAs? For example, if the Nordstrom's is open from 10am to 8pm and I go in the morning, am I going to run into someone who works at 6:30pm? Can I mail them in to return?

You paid so much money for something that you are not happy with. Go ahead and return them. I'm pretty sure the same SA won't be there in the morning unless his/her schedule changed.

Yes, that's true. I inquired about mailing in a return and it's possible, but I'm just going to go ahead and return them tomorrow am.

Funny you ask that question. I keep running into the same shoe SA every time I go into Nordstrom (probably because I only go on the weekends). For some reason, he irks me, so I'm always trying to avoid him and yet he always manages to find me.

I had the same situation a few weeks ago where I purchased a pair of shoes 1/2 size smaller than my normal shoe size. It fit fine in the store, but when I got home a few days later, my feet would not even fit in the shoe (yay bloating). So I went back to the store to try to return them for a bigger size, and was hoping to avoid running into the same SA because I didn't want to feel guilty about returning them for a larger size since I knew the store didn't have the next size up in stock and would have to order them. Yet, the SA still managed to see me and then kept trying to convince me to let him stretch the shoe, which I refused. Very infuriating!

I'm pretty sure they treat you like that because they are on commission and they don't want you to return anything (it will be deducted on their next paycheck)....

Does anyone know whether a salesperson can trace a particular return back to a customer? Meaning, do their returns reports provide a breakdown of every transaction, or is it a lump sum?

they can see actually tell when it was returned and what you returned as well.

for what it is worth, I just had a lengthy conversation with nordstrom's phone customer service in which I specifically asked whether, if I purchased the pair of $865 Chanel heels I am considering and find them to be too uncomfortable to wear long term, if I could return them.

I wanted to see what they said, not because I intend to "borrow" the item. If they're comfortable, I will keep them.

I was informed multiple times that this was perfectly acceptable and they would be pleased to accept my return or to exchange for a different style. I also asked my SA whether it would hurt him if I bought these and then returned them and he said it would but that he sees very few returns and makes plenty and he'd rather see me return them than keep them and not wear them. He's been there for at least 3 years since that's how long I've been working with him.

I think that it heavily depends on the store. Both the Nordstroms I visit are in wealthy areas and I think they see a lot more spending than they do returning.

Ok, I am interested in a Rose Gold watch and I want to buy it from Nordstrom but I'm hesitating on purchasing the watch because I have read reviews on the website and random websites online that the rose gold plating wears off after a few months. It has happened to some but for some people, the rose gold plating never has worn off. I'm just wondering, if the rose gold plating does wear off, can I exchange it for a new one? What if it wears off in a few years? Will I just have to live with it or can I still exchange it? I have asked these questions on live chat and have gotten slightly different answers so maybe one of your can help me out. Never shopped at Nordstroms before so I'm not familiar with their return or exchange policy...thanks

My sister got an MK rose gold watch at Nordstrom. Within a few months, the rose gold was wearing off. MK wouldn't do anything for her but Nordstrom exchanged it without any issues.

I don't think it has but I wouldn't be surprised if it started to. I have a gold MK watch that I occasionally wear and it has the same problem. I think it's a quality issue with MK watches. But Nordstrom is great if you have any issues. I had a Longchamp tote that I got a couple years ago from them and the zipper randomly broke. The next time I was in the store, I asked them where they sent them to get fixed thinking that I would just send it to the same company they used to fix it. They insisted that I bring it in and that they would send it out and fix it free of charge even though it was a couple years old.

Hmmm...got mine at Macys and I have the gold watch with the same issues. It's so sad to hear that MK won't help.
