Nordstrom Return Policy Thread!!

This is not the point -- why should someone feel entitled to return something they soiled or damaged and then had cleaned. At the time they damaged it, it was theirs forever, IMO. You don't return items you damaged and expect your money back.

Thank you!. Also, I never understand why people take tags off items, yet the claim they never wore it. Why take the tags off then, I never understood that. I take the tags off, seconds before I walk out the house.

hey ladies- I noticed that there are a lot of comments on my post. I'm not trying to start a big argument here..... but if you try something on in a store and leave a deodorant or makeup stain on it, do you automatically buy it because you damaged it? I'm just wondering if everyone goes by the same advice that they are posting.

I have never stained or marked an item I tried on -- if I did, or when I found someone who tried it on before me did, I would take it to the SA. If I had to buy it, I would.
Remember signs in shops "you break it, you bought it?"

If I tried on a garment and inadvertently got lipstick or deodorant

I would bring it to a sales associate & point it out .. if there was

a charge to clean it I would be happy to take care of it & I might

add this has never happened to me personally but I certainly

wouldn't leave it in the fitting room or put it back on a hanger &

hang it back up on the sales floor....

Hey ladies- I purchased a dress from Nordstrom a few weeks ago. I didn't wear it and was going to return it until I noticed that I left an oil stain on it from my lotion. I decided to dry clean the dress because I didn't want to return it in damaged condition. I told the dry cleaner not to remove the tags but they did anyway.. Again, I never wore the dress and I have the receipt. Do you think that Nordstrom will let me return it?

She was just asking if Nordstrom will let her return it and to answer that question, YES! May not sound right for u, but the answer is still YES.

I just want to comment about removing tags... First of all, I rarely to never return items. Once in a while I may only if it is an item costing over $500 and it is not touched/worn/used and the likelihood of me never using it is great. HOWEVER, i DO often remove tags with the intention of wearing something new, and at the very last second, change my mind and wear something else. Furthermore, I am someone who tends to buy en masse when I decide I want something in particular. For example, early summer, I wanted denim shorts, and bought 10-15 pair. Some multiples, like the Paige Jimmy Jimmy short in blue denim and several colors too...I have several pair that still have tags and unworn but noticed about 3 weeks after purchase some being marked down from $135 and $165 to as low as $99. I have refrained from wearing yet, and left the tags on (nordies) with the intention of taking in for price adjustments. Similarly, I bought multiple pair of other denim shorts and 2 of them I removed the tags and have never worn them. I have no plans to return them, but they have tags off and never worn. I habitually will take off tags and change my mind after a few glances in the mirror, or I have way too many options and get overwhelmed. It is mindblowing to many who see my closet, the amounts of new clothes I always seem to have- and partially is that I love everything I buy- and only tend to buy things that are timeless yet representative of my taste and style... And also, I work from home grueling hours and sadly, do not take the time to enjoy my HG of a wardrobe. I primarily shop at Neimans, Saks and Norstrom for most items, and periodically at Anthro.... I have never had any issue ever in decades with any CS at these stores. On line, I shop Bloomies, NAP, Shopbop, Revolve, and if I order online, forget returns...I have NEVER returned a web purchase. I try to check out what it is at a B&M store first if I am not sure about an item, and order on line to save on sales tax or the random promo codes that are becoming more and more rare...but rest assured, as someone who spends no less than $5K a month on clothes, I often pull tags off and the new stuff can sit in touched for months or years even...

out of curiosity:

I know nordstrom SAs work on commission. What happens to the SA's commission if you buy something in-store, and then later either:

1. return it

or

2. exchange it for another size, which has to be ordered.

Curious because I had to exchange a pair of shoes today for a bigger size, and the SA who processed my exchange was the same SA that I had purchased the shoes from, and the SA kept on trying to offer to stretch the shoe for me which I did not want (I knew they weren't going to fit properly even if you stretched them). Kinda felt like the SA was giving me a hard time about the store not having the size in-stock and having to order it online.

I work in retail so in my store, we lost the commission.

Sorry, but once you got a stain on it, it's yours. They may have a good return policy, but common sense would be to not return something you stained and/or cleaned. And yeah, if you stain it in the store, you should tell the SA because you would be obligated since you damaged it.

I was wondering if I'm able to return a gift I got? I don't have the receipt or the Nordstrom tag, but I have the tag from the brand. But it's brand new and it was purchased recently. Sooo, will I be able to return it?

If it was purchased from nordstrom the back of the tag from the brand will have a nordstrom barcode sticker on it. Does yours have that?

I purchased a Chanel clutch and had it sent from the Seattle flagship store to me in South Carolina. I needed to return it, so my SA sent me a Priority label, and I took it to the post office and sent it back using the label this past Monday 08/06. As of today, Saturday 08/11, it's not been received by her yet, and she told me that the though label is USPS Priority, it's not trackable. She said not to worry, that they use them all the time, and never have any problems. She said 2-3 weeks is the norm, especially going from east to west coast. Does that sound right to you guys? Have any of you done a store return using one of these labels?

Thanks! :smile1:
