Soooo... Weird return experience for me at Nordies today... I returned a 2 month old scarf, NWT and receipt, and explained to the SA that I did not want it put back on my Amex because that card was paid off and I actually was planning on closing it. i asked them if they could put it back on my Visa or do cash, and the SA told me that Amex purchases must go back on Amex. Rule per Amex she says. Well, i went ahead with it cause I was in a hurry, but now I am a little Po'd that I got stuck with 550 credit to a paid off card that I was not planning on using. I have never had a problem with this until now with the Amex... Anyone else heard of this rule, or did I just a poor customer service??

I second, lulilu. I think it's no problem for Amex to do so. I once over paid an infrequent used credit card. The amount was small. So I didn't do anything. I didn't use the card for a few months or so, they just sent me the over paid amount of check voluntary.

That's a common policy for all retailers... on a return you'll be refunded in the same manner of purchase (or some stores will let you take a store credit instead).

I agree with the others and simply ask AmEx for a refund check, they'll take care of that for you no problem :)

I bought a dress online around March. Later, in April I exchanged it for a smaller size. I have not yet wore it. I looked online and found that it's on sale for 45 % off. I wanted to return it and get the sale price. Would they allow me to return it?

hi girls, i've heard about nordstrom's return policy but wanted to check here just in case.

i have a bag i received as a gift in january, have the receipt but not the tags anymore. bag is still in perfect condition, i just changed my mind about it.

Bag was purchased with my friend's nordy debit card, would it be possible for me to return the bag for say... store credit? or exchange for another bag? i don't want the refund to go back on her card and have her notice i returned her gift :P

TIA!

If the bag is unused, go ahead and return it (it's unclear from how you posted if you used the bag or not). Just let them know it was a gift, and they'll give you store credit. They'll probably have to do a little checking to be sure the bag is the one on the receipt but you should be good.

However if you used the bag and want to return it now because you decided you don't like it anymore, I don't recommend returning it. Nordies may still take it back but I think it's in poor taste to do this. JMHO.

You can return it and they'll ask if you want it back on the card, store credit or cash.

Hello ladies!

I recently purchased a darling dress at Nordies and had it altered there (shorter hemline and closing of pockets). I just picked up the dress yesterday and after trying it on at home... Let's just say I'm really not happy with the way the alterations turned out. I was wondering what options I have. Does Nordstrom allow returns or exchanges on altered items? I was thinking of perhaps exchanging for an unaltered dress and having it redone by my usual tailor, but I'm not sure if they'll even allow me to return/exchange?

TIA!

I experienced a similar situation today. I brought home my Michael Kors long sleeve tunic that I had left to have the sleeves shortened. Nordstrom's alterations had made the sleeves too short, making the tunic unwearable. I brought it back later and was refunded both the full purchase price and the cost of alterations.

Forgot to add: the SA offered me a new, unaltered tunic in exchange, but I decided on the refund..
