not if you pay by card. they can look anything up bc they keep meticulous records. they were the first store to really start doing that. i've returned items with no receipt or box and only a vague idea of when i bought it and we sat there for 20 minutes until we found the purchase.

sure, if you purchase it at Nordstrom. I think the case here is when people try to return items from other stores.

After my Mother-In-Law passed away we found several Nordstrom clothing articles that were still new with tags, but we didn't have the original receipts. She had purchased them more than a year before she died but never had the chance to wear them after she got sick and began losing weight drastically. We took them back to Nordstrom and explained the situation and they graciously gave us refunds. God bless them!

Thats disturbing to know that they took a dead person's clothes back.

I don't see anything wrong with it. They still had the tags and now they probably have a much more loyal customer. I've made a few returns to Nordstroms in the past that might be past the typical return window but as a result they have my loyalty. I have a cc with them that I use frequently and I do about 90% of my clothing, cosmetic and accessory shopping with them. I will always look at Nords first before anywhere else. Imo, you treat me well, I will treat you well with my loyal business. You may not like their return policy, but they are a business...they have weighed the numbers and chosen to keep the policy for a reason.

Whatever my opinion is here to say regardless of what you or anyone else has to say. And you are one out of million customers if they lose your loyalty do you think they really care? Lol you lose one you gain another.

I find your comments disturbing honestly.

The items weren't used, and a lot of "dead persons" items are worth a lot more than new items - hence estate sales having tons of vintage, hard to find items, rare, collectibles...etc etc.

Unless you get a brand new pair of shoes direct from the factory - chances are you have bought a pair of shoes someone has tried on several times - and God knows where those feet have been and if they were returned by a living person and she/he just wore them around the house to see if they really wanted them and there was no wear on the sole.. most stores put them back on the floor Nordies included. How many times have people bought those shoes?

Do you own stock in Nordstroms ? Your comments seem so aggressive towards anyone returning anything unless it was still in the bag, untouched.

I personally wouldn't attempt it, but not because it wouldn't be cool with Nordstrom. Years of working in retail has made me avoid returns if at all possible, although sometimes it can't be helped! I bought a great pair of overpriced heels from Nordy's several months ago, frolicked around my apartment in anticipation of an event that ended up being canceled. I promptly took them back, receipt, original box, and the sales associate did not even examine the merchandise. Refund was in my account within a day or two.

Hands down - one of the best department stores and shopping experiences, IMO.

I Love Nordstrom because of their return policy. Here are my two incidents with them:

1) I purchased a pair of Chanels shades back in 1999. They broke after about a year and I no longer wore them. I simply forgot about them and years went by. In 2010, I found them in my closet. I tried to get them fixed but it would cost me $120! So I brought it back to Nordstrom trying to see if they can fix it for less since it was purchased there. The SA told me it's so old they no longer carry it and told me she's happy to refund my money. "Are you kidding me? It's been 10 years??!!" Was what came out of my mouth. I wasn't even expecting them to take it back but I sure didn't want to pay for Chanels to get fix when it broke after only a year. I had no receipt and no tags. I was shock but heck, should I decline $290? LOL.

2) Purchased a pair of Heels and after wearing it literally once, my feet turned into the feet of Shrek's cousin. Nordstrom gladly let me exchange it. They also would give me back full refund if I wanted, but I exchanged it for a lower heel and something more comfortable. Why should I keep a pair of shoes that cost me $300 and I can't even wear them?

By no means do I ever take advantage of Nordstrom's policy, and I am not encouraging you to do so, but I truly love their policy and the flexibility it gives a customer. Unlike such bull**** policy like BCBG...2 weeks, NO refund whatsoever and only store credit. That's totally baloney!

The boots definitely return or exchange. It's not your fault the wrong size was in your box. You won't have any problems.

The bag as long as it was never used, I would return as well since you have the tags. If you used it a few times and don't use it anymore, I think it's more honorable to keep/sell on Bonanza etc (I wasn't clear from your post if you never used it or just don't use it now).

Hello, My friends Mom works Nordstrom and let me tell you. They are extremely persistent in making sure you are happy and will return. I am not saying to take advantage of this but if you ask for something to be fixed or you genuinely are honest with them about your product experience they will help you out. After all you are paying for the product but also for the experience they offer, which is one of the best shopping experiences I personally have had. There are not many stores like this anymore. They stand behind their product quality.

Hi ladies (and gents), if I buy a pair of shoes and never wear them, and wait for them to go on sale (could be months later), would Nordstrom do a price adjustment for me then? Or can I return the pair of shoes for refund, and buy them back right away at the sale price???

I'm not planning to wear the shoes before returning. I just don't want to pay full price for them. And I'm afraid my size would be sold out by the time they go on sale.

Thank you for answering!
