Nordstrom Return Policy Thread!!

Thank you to everyone who provided input and advice! You guys are awesome!

I just wanted to let everyone know that I went to Nordstrom today, and - amazingly! - was able to return the trench coat! Hallelujah! :yahoo: The entire process was essentially painless. I believe the woman who processed the return for me was the store manager, as I went pretty late to the store, very close to closing hours. I beelined for the customer service department and she was the only person working there.

The lady did note that I had made the purchase almost 1.5 years ago, but other than that, made no other comments, except to ask if the coat had been worn, which I honestly told her had not (been worn, that is), although it did not include its original tags. I also told her that the credit/debit card with which I had purchased the coat had since expired, so she asked me what credit/debit card I would like to receive the return on.

As I said, pretty painless, and I managed to leave with my dignity largely intact. Phew! Lesson learned: If I don't wear something, return it ASAP, rather dillydallying and letting it hang unworn in my closet for months and months.

Thanks again to all of the lovely TPF-ers who encouraged me to just try it out! Nordstrom has pretty much zoomed to the top of my "favorite stores" list with their awesome customer service. Thumbs-up from me!

Great that the coat worked out for you, OP :smile1:

Does anyone know how they are about exchanges? I have a pair of shoes that I received as a gift a few months back, and I have the receipt, but the person whose credit card it was purchased on would probably not be able to come with me if I went there (we live a bit far out from Nordstrom). Would that be a problem if I just want to exchange for a different size?

I have never known Nordstrom's to ever have a problem with returns. Its simply one of the main reasons why I will choose to shop there over other, less expensive stores. They're really on point with the customer service...and its amazing what they will do in order to keep your business. When places like Macy's or Dillard's make it such a hassle to return something...then wonder why their bottom line keeps going down...maybe its customer service?!

macys will now accept anything at any time

Wow. I'm kind of suprised people bother returning things that old - I have a ton of things I buy from Nordies that sit in my clost with tags for 6 + month ( no occasion to wear for example) that I just end up giving away to family. I have always known they have a good return policy but didn't know they take it this far. :smile1:

I tried to give the trench coat to my mother, but she prefers looser clothing, and this would have been a slim fit on her. And my sister already has the same trench coat, although in a different color, so she wouldn't have wanted this one. Ah, well, lesson learned. :smile1:

Really?! Since when? Their customer service, or lack thereof, was one of the contributing factors to my decision to never, ever shop there.

i think for a few months. if you paid with cash or credit card, then you need to keep the receipt. otherwise you will get store credit or get it refunded to your macys store credit card

this is Nordstrom's policy. So if they don't have an issue with it, neither should the customer!

Return on, ladies!

I saw some return something purchased in 1999 a few weeks ago! I was STUNNED. But they handled the return as if she purchased recently. She had her receipt, too!

Nordstrom has magnificent customer service. I think they are too nice for their own good sometimes. They see returns like your everyday. It's always worth a try when you still have the tags on the item and receipt.

Wow, it never ceases to amaze me how easy returning stuff is in the US... In my country a) no store would take an item back after so much time and b) no curtomer would have the guts to even try that... Glad it worked out great for you though :)
