New packaging

That question has been on my mind. I think major luxury jewelry brands would do market research analysis on consumers' reactions to new initiatives/products rolled out by competitors. Even for VCA, I wonder if they might have picked selected US and Canada boutiques to first roll out these new packagings because the general populations in these regions tend to be more open to accept new ideas related to ESG initiatives (other than EU). Well, if many customers in the US and Canada markets are not very receptive of the new packaging, it's likely that many customers in other regions might not be fond of the new packaging either, IMO.
This is what my SA told me! He told me SF was one of the cities to have the new packaging and had started back in October. And SF was picked because it was more “environmentally friendly” and more ppl would be accepting of it.

Congrats on your first VCA necklace! Such a classic

If I recall correctly, Jaime le luxe mentioned in her latest YouTube video that the San Francisco store is one of the VCA boutiques trialing the new packaging.

Will be interesting to see what happens for the rest of the US boutiques starting 1 January.
I shop the SF store too and the new packaging started back in October. My SA said he would have liked VCA to have ppl have the option to ask for the full packaging especially for like first time purchase or something purchased for a special occasion.

It’s messed up if new customers didn’t even know what the old packaging was like.

Thanks for info. Many customers in US and Canada already reflected their feedbacks to VCA boutiques about the new packaging. Let's hope VCA would re-consider this new packaging initiative.

This is interesting. I suppose I can see the logic.

My husband, who is vegetarian, asked me if the brand is also moving away from suede, or is now at least offering a cruelty-free vegan leather pouch alternative. “Not that I’m aware of”.

Edit - My (NYC 5th) SA has indicated that this boutique won’t transition to the new packaging until sometime in 2023. Probably early, but not immediately.

I don't believe they changed their minds - there are probably signed contracts with packaging production companies/manufacturers and an order has most likely been placed. They have also posted their new packaging on the website, so not sure these things can be reversed. I just recently ordered several new pieces of Alhambra and I asked my SA about the new packaging and was told its lovely. From the impression I got it seems like the packaging was changed due to the many requests of travel pouches by customers. I did not press for more information, and it was not offered either. I am not friends with my SA - we have a professional relationship - no gossip is shared etc, and I like it like that. I had an experience with a gossipy SA from Hermes Miami Design District this past summer. She likes to gossip, and I really don't like it. I arrived early for an appointment in August/September area. She was busy helping a client in shoes. I waved to her and let her know I arrived and swung around the corner to the perfumes - it was then I heard her gossiping - hearing her say someone was a bit crazy to the client - I then realized she was gossiping about me...
WOW.

Looks like VCA in Europe hasn’t change their so called “new packaging”. I’ve had my friend sourced these magic earrings for me in Europe, they thankfully came with the old packaging

Your beautiful magic earrings deserve beautiful boxes. It just wouldn’t be the same handing you a pouch with your earrings.

My last purchase (from Toronto Yorkdale Flagship) came in the new packaging.
While it was disappointing not getting the box, after the initial opening, I do like the new robust pouch. It’s nicer than the travel pouches, which I have quite a few of but never use. But, it should have been an extra not a replacement.
It reminds me of Pandora packaging.
(But even they give a box…)

I do hope they scrap this and offer clients the old box if/when they go back to it.
