New packaging

I saw my SA today (at Yorkdale, Toronto), and she said that they are receiving so many customer complaints about the new packaging that she thinks they'll have to do something about it. She said that if they go back to the old packaging, I can get the original boxes for the pieces I have purchased recently. She seemed to think this was likely to happen.
If enough people complain, I hope corporate rethink their decision about this new cheap looking packaging.

@fashion_junky: I hope they give you the original packaging for your pieces :)

I like the vault tray. I’m going to order on to see if it fits into the safe. I’m hoping so
I have had them for about a year+. My one note: just make sure that when you place the lid back on, you place it back into place. I sometimes I think I've put the lid on properly and then I see its a bit off centre allowing air, etc to get in easier.

Companies need to remember that without their customers they are nothing. Thus, the simple logic is listen to your customer and keep them happy. These pouches are just the cheap and lazy way out and devalues their brand. I am truly disappointed in VCA. As unappetizing as it is to some genius in corporate who came up with this idea and the nodding heads who approved it, they really screwed this up. I really hope that the people who are getting pieces for holiday gifts or engagement rings get the boxes. Can you imagine getting handed a pouch with an ering inside? Ugh…

And I truly hope you get the boxes your pieces should have come with. Crossing fingers for you.

I voiced my opinions on the packaging with my purchases today (I still got the original packaging but no travel pouches were available sadly) and felt a bit bad for the SA helping to box up my pieces as my SA was doing the payments in another area. He was doing his best to explain it was for sustainability but I firmly said if I had received only a pouch I would be really upset after spending so much. I couldn’t push too hard since I did receive the original packaging still but I’m hoping many other clients voice their concerns so all the boutiques report to HQ that the mass opinion is that this “sustainability effort” is not up to expectations by loyal clients. They can totally redesign the velvet box using more sustainable materials or giving clients the option whether or not they want it. Anyway I am beating the dead horse so I’m hoping in a few months we might see an announcement that they’re going to at least upgrade the pouch to a proper case again.

No, you’re trying to revive the horse. All of us who use those boxes are. During the sale of the 2021 HP, a lot of SAs complained about getting abused by customers who were upset about not being able to buy the HP, and tons of people complained to vca about not being able to buy the HP. So for 2022 corporate came up with this idea that their SAs should tell their customers that they had to be in a list that got approved by headquarters. I still don’t believe it that crap but whatever. Corporate listens. They need to listen to clients about this. They do. I have two more pieces that I definitely want and I’m just prioritizing other stuff right now. And as I stay away from VCA I find other more interesting possibilities pop up in my head. I’ve wanted a black opal for the longest time. I also am interested in some fancy shaped diamonds. These would be fun custom projects. And I think if I never get those pieces from VCA I would be fine. Humph.

Thank you!! She also mentioned that the SA's did give feedback about the new packaging even before it rolled out, but that they weren't listened to. Very unfortunate that they wouldn't listen to the employees who know their customers best.

I’ve picked it up! I’m such a happy bunny to finally get my order after 10 weeks…

My SA was on holiday unfortunately, so I ended up with an older, less competent SA, who marred what would have been a special shopping day with her brusque nature and perfunctory service…

Anyway, luckily, I didn’t have to put up a fight with her - I got the old packaging for the purchase…

Although, I did have to ask her for a travel pouch and a cleaning cloth, both of which were only proferred with a dissatisfied grunt…

They were out of the long paper bags, and again, I had to ask her for a proper sized paper bag, as the receipt sleeve was sticking out of the petite one she originally provided!

No chance of any candles or coffee table books on my end - her response was - “go ask your SA when she’s back…“ (Nice…)

She even stuffed up the wrapping… I mean, look at that travesty!

But in any case, I’m at least glad that I got the full set without any resistance, and I now have my long-awaited addition!

I was invited back to the store after giving my feedback on the service I received when purchasing my necklace.

When I arrived with my friend, we were welcomed by my usual SA and the one of the deputy managers who couldn’t be nicer. We had a frank and constructive conversation about my experience, and the manager was very apologetic and receptive to my feedback.

I had a lovely time catching up with the two of them, and at the end of it, I was pleasantly surprised with a candle by the manager, in one of my favourite scents - Rose Velours, which made my day! I’m keeping it to open on Christmas Day haha! It really is the little things that count with luxury customer service.

I was also in the store on Friday and my SA said that the regular pouches are not available anymore and that they will get a new packaging made of a sort of pouch as we have been talking about. My SA said some people already upset about it and not sure if it was happening or not. Not in her control. But she didn’t seem to like the idea of the new one either. Crossing my fingers that HQ will rethink this as people give their negative feedbacks!
Meanwhile I have never seen the store so packed. It was madness. They had a nice holiday event with cookies to decorate, macarons and chocolate and personalized candles with an artist on site!
I never got decent gifts in the US so far as the store was always out of stock of everything! Glad they are improving.

I feel like it is more about maximising profit - saving money on packaging is just one area.

Maybe using less gold is the next strategy (for the solid gold creations).

VCA has always been the epitome of luxury to me. But all these strange decisions lately (packaging, holiday pendant debacle) are making me reconsider. Who is making these bad decisions? I hope someone from their team is reading our posts and taking notes

None of us want cheap packaging with our purchases. Recycled carry bags/outer cardboard boxes are fine but pouches are not
Someone posted on the forum that the VCA from the 1970s was markedly heavier, idk

ETA: already stated above by @sjunky13 in post 212 and by others

Does anyone have a clue of what this new “sustainable” packaging looks like?
Can't speak for every jewelry piece, but my friend who purchased the 5 motif bracelet recently got a thick white box that resemble the shape, thickness, and material like a macaron box (Laduree-ish?), inside it was the bracelet in the typical travel pouch. Don't have photo to share since I only saw it via FaceTime...it didn't look luxurious at all :frown:
