New packaging

I just received a pair of earrings purchased from VCA Madison flagship, and I was pleasantly surprised to see it arrive in the old packaging! I did not ask my SA specifically for it, just waited to see what would happen. She also sent a cleaning cloth, but no travel pouch.
Latest purchase just before Xmas, original packaging with box, no travel pouch. My SA said there was a shortage…

I don't believe they changed their minds - there are probably signed contracts with packaging production companies/manufacturers and an order has most likely been placed. They have also posted their new packaging on the website, so not sure these things can be reversed. I just recently ordered several new pieces of Alhambra and I asked my SA about the new packaging and was told its lovely. From the impression I got it seems like the packaging was changed due to the many requests of travel pouches by customers. I did not press for more information, and it was not offered either. I am not friends with my SA - we have a professional relationship - no gossip is shared etc, and I like it like that. I had an experience with a gossipy SA from Hermes Miami Design District this past summer. She likes to gossip, and I really don't like it. I arrived early for an appointment in August/September area. She was busy helping a client in shoes. I waved to her and let her know I arrived and swung around the corner to the perfumes - it was then I heard her gossiping - hearing her say someone was a bit crazy to the client - I then realized she was gossiping about me...

I purchased my first VCA necklace from the San Francisco store and received the new packaging. A little disappointed to not receive a box but nonetheless I am happy with my vintage Alhambra.View attachment 5679896View attachment 5679900

Congrats on your new piece!

This packaging is much more practical than the old one for traveling — this would hold the jewelry in place within the pouch itself. Now, I’m interested to see why they did with the bracelet packaging.

I think that’s my problem with the new packaging, though. It is a travel pouch and doesn’t seem worthy of the $$$$ price tag of their pieces…

Congratulations on your new pendant and your first VCA. Is that YG? I'm sorry they didn't give you the original box. Maybe when they fix this situation and change it back to the old way, you can get a box for your pendant if you want one.

Anyone think that...
Cartier and Tiffany are following closely to see if they can get away with it too  .
It only takes one major brand for all other brands to follow next. If VCA can get away with it, why can't they?

Those Tiffany blue boxes and Cartier red boxes are stunning imo.

That question has been on my mind. I think major luxury jewelry brands would do market research analysis on consumers' reactions to new initiatives/products rolled out by competitors. Even for VCA, I wonder if they might have picked selected US and Canada boutiques to first roll out these new packagings because the general populations in these regions tend to be more open to accept new ideas related to ESG initiatives (other than EU). Well, if many customers in the US and Canada markets are not very receptive of the new packaging, it's likely that many customers in other regions might not be fond of the new packaging either, IMO.

Congrats on your first VCA necklace! Such a classic

If I recall correctly, Jaime le luxe mentioned in her latest YouTube video that the San Francisco store is one of the VCA boutiques trialing the new packaging.

Will be interesting to see what happens for the rest of the US boutiques starting 1 January.

I really hope they don’t start messing around with the Cartier red boxes too :frown:
