I am just starting my Hermès journey.. is the 24/24 a quota bag or would it be appropriate to request it when I schedule my first appointment?
Hi There: I'm saving up for a 24/24 bag. I kept thinking it makes more sense to get a Kelly or Birkin (or try for one) but they don't make my heart sing the way the 24/24 does. If you had to choose which color combo would you go for? Gold w Gold HW or Black w GHW...or maybe Etain with GHW? I love them all, but really can only afford one in my lifetime. If you only could have one - which color of those would you get? Or am I not thinking of another combination?
To give you an idea, I own primarily black bags (Evelyne PM, Chanel classic flap SHW, Celine Trio) and one tan Loewe puzzle bag. I'm a new mom, work in the creative field and live in LA so my lifestyle is very casual.

I personally love the 24/24. I have other bags, but I haven't stopped using this since I bought it.
Because it's a sporty bag, I prefer it in a color other than black but that's a question of personal choice. Since you have so many black bags, I'd break the pattern and go with gold w gold HW, or etain w gold HW. Both would pair equally well with jeans and casual wear as well as business attire.

That's true - do you think you could ever dress up the bag in any of the colors? Thank you so much for your input!
My opinion on color is shifting. So, if it’s black that you find yourself reliably reaching for (and buying) if you want to optimize cost/wear, go for black. IMO either HW is fantastic with H black, so whichever coordinates better with your most worn jewelry would be my choice.
And, skip B/K entirely if they don’t make your heart sing! Good luck and please share when you make the move.

Absolutely! I love a punch of color. Red with an all black outfit or navy is fabulous. So is anything bright. But again, I do think it's a sporty bag so IMHO it's never going to look as dressy as a Kelly or a medor clutch or the like.
Thank you! Do you think gold w gold hardware can be dressed up? Or is that pretty much only a day bag? I'm really attracted the gold on gold but I just want to make sure at this price point it can be a lot of different things! TIA!

I love the gold with gold. It's a stunning bag and I think it will go with everything. But dressy--if you want to pair it with a suit, a fur jacket and nice pants, I think it would be great, but I wouldn't pair it with evening wear, an uber feminine dinner outfit or a lacy dress (unless it's totally Boho), and even then, I would probably choose something else. On the other hand, the Olson sisters seem to get away with it, so why not?
One bag is usually not the end all, be all, no matter the price point. But as an everyday bag, I think this is sensational and goes everywhere. I know I'm enjoying mine. It's now been a couple of months and I've been using it everyday (indeed, I have to force myself to carry something else), and the thrill and pleasure from the bag still hasn't worn off.
And, for me too, this was an expensive purchase. I thought long and hard before making it. And now, to add insult to injury, I just broke down and bought a 50mm wide/105cm shoulder strap so I can wear it cross-body as I find the shoulder strap is a little short. Even factoring in that expense, I'm still glad to have the bag, but I doubt I'll buy another--in other words, this isn't a bag I'd buy in other colors, such as some of the others H makes. For me, this one is enough.
By the way, I too live in California, am a mom (albeit, to a standard poodle) and have a very casual lifestyle.

I have both gold and black, but I use my black bags the least. I think it's all those years of working and carrying a black bag! Forget about public opinion, go with what makes your heart sing. It sounds like the gold will hit the spot and gold looks great when worn with black or navy . . .
Hopefully this is not just a workhorse, but a fun everyday bag--I think black makes it very serious. Just my thoughts
I have several black, mostly GHW, and one Barenia Faubourg (similar to gold) with SHW. Black gets most use year round, BF in warmer months.

That's so true and black will always be classic, but is a bit heavy? for LA I guess. So now I'm between the gold w ghw or the bleu encre with PHW. Decisions decisions! THank you!!!
