i will be visiting the FSH store in May during the French Open and would love to get a birkin, shoulder kelly, or pochette/cut. i am wondering what the best way to approach the million dollar inquiry will be. i have quite a long list of things i would like to purchase ranging from jewelry, silks, small leather goods, and home wares. if the euro/dollar exchange rate stays at is as of now, its like saving 20% off! (us retail plus state sales tax)

shall i queue in the handbag department for an SA, or should I just go to the jewelry section or home ware department and make some purchases then inquire about availability of the "hot bags"? will the jewelry or home ware SA be able to search for the bags in questions, or is that only left to a designated handbag SA?

thank you!

As far as I know, each dept has its SA and even if you start buying from the silk dept, you will have to go to the bags to look for a Birkin.

I suggest you go firts thing to the bags dpt and ask for a Birkin. If they say they don't have any, than continue your shopping, and before paying go and ask again if a Birkin has arrived meanwhile.

I did this once and I scored one.

Good luck!

costa, thank you so much for the helpful information. i have never been to FSH and your help is greatly appreciated. =)

since I will be purchasing items from different departments, do I have to pay for them first before going to another department? will i work with different sales associates in each of the different departments? or would one sales associate be able to help me throughout the store, with the exception of the handbag department?

Usually they put all your items at the cashier and you can pay everything in the end. I've had both experiences re SAs: sometimes one SA goes with me through all my shopping across the boutique and sometimes I have to ask different SAs.

Does it seem more stocks available before Christmas time in dec? I m considering to go during mid dec for a week, but don't know if shops open on Christmas day/ boxing days? Is there any public holidays that shops/department stores close?

It also seem that the stocks are better before Christmas then after Christmas, is this correct? This will help me organize a white Christmas!! Thanks

Shops are closed on the 25th of december and every sunday. They are closed on all French bank holidays (boxing day is not a French holiday). Generally there is good stock in October - December but as always it doesn't necessarily apply to birkins.

So basically only the 25th(Sunday) for this year!! Ok, thanks so much! So is it even department store not open on Sunday's??
Love to know they do have good inventory during dec, hope I will able to find what I want there!:p

I'm hoping to purchase my first birkin during my honeymoon, end of June... anyone know my chances at FSH vs. George V? I'm planning on buying a few items like a scarf, bracelet, some shoes etc to up my chances, does this actually work?! I'm staying a few doors down from the George V store so is it best if i keep going in until i succeed? Don't want to look like a pushy asian tourist :S even if i'm aussie, they'll obviously think i'm an asian tourist haha.. and should i not mention that i'm particularly after a birkin? I only have 6 days in Paris and it's the end of my trip so it'll be my last and only chance!

Also, which are the best days of the week and what time is it least busy/best chance of buying a birkin at FSH?

Thanks :)

In Paris you don't need to buy other items to ask for a Birkin. Just get in and ask for it. Many times during the day, if needed, and in all the three stores.
Good luck!
