DC cutie -- I disagree. If NM strictly enforced a customer service policy similar to Nordstrom, I seriously doubt their SA would dare act the way they do. I don't think there is a manager at every Nordstrom counter watching the SA's every move. They must have been trained to be so courteous and polite. It is hard to believe that every SA at Nordstrom is a very nice person; its what their job requires of them. And at NM they can probably get away with it while I dont think they can at Nordstrom which leads to me to believe that mngt DOES set a level of expectation that every SA working there must adhere to.
In Dallas I find the opposite experience. I get very little attention in Nords here w/ the exception of the children's dept's for some reason. But at NM, every SA looks up and says hello or whatever and I never have trouble getting help from anyone. This is consistent here - every store.
I have always gotten good service at NM with one notable exception. The Christian Dior makeup counter. They hardly ever have my mascara in stock. They offered to order it and sent me the wrong thing, so I had to take a trip to the store to return it. I complained in a customer survey and they called me and apologized. So a year later, the manager calls and asks if I took a survey and complained. I told her that was a year ago. She asked how things were going lately. I told her I don't shop at the Dior counter there anymore because they never have my stuff. So she said I could contact her to help me. That's a huge pain. Why would I do that? I just go to Bloomingdales. They always have it. Oh, and I told her that about two months ago, I stopped by her counter to ask for it yet again and as usual, they didn't have it. They said they would be happy to order it and call me when it comes in. You guessed it. I never got a call. I told her essentially that I had tried NM over and over again and I was done with them (at least for Dior).
Had such a bad experience at NM past couple days. Was looking for a Bal bag with smooshy, soft leather and I asked the SA if I could see several cuz the ones he was bringing out were all dry n stiff or damaged. Finally at the last one, i said, "oohh.. i really like this leather" and he was like, "yah, i think this is the one. u should buy it". I was inspecting the bag to see if it was ok since NM seems notorious for selling used items. However, he kept pressuring me to buy by commenting and saying stuff like, "all the bags look the same", "theres no difference", "stop inspecting the bag or you're going to find something else wrong with it", Etc. It was honestly quite annoying and I didn't appreciate the side commenting but felt pressured enough to just buy it thinking that the bag would be fine.
Fast forward to today and got a chance to thoroughly inspect and the leather is peeling in 4 spots!!! went back to exchange and just my luck... It's the same SA! it's too long to post, but here's several of the comments he made today:
"This young lady says that ALL the bags we have are damaged" (umm... Most of them were! And I never said that. I said MY bag was damaged, which it was)
"Are u SURE u want this bag?" (Implying that I don't want it and I'm just there to waste time?? Idk! Like y would I even b there if I didn't want the bag?!?!?!)
Grabs me new bag from downstairs which had loose thread, which he then cuts off and I was like, "I don't want this bag just in case the stitching comes undone in future" and he goes, "do you ALWAYS shop like this?" And I go, "ummmm.. Yah." (Thinking if its so crazy that I want a perfect, UNDAMAGED bag) and he goes, "oh. I'm SO sorry". Like, WTFFFF?!?!!!!!!!!
Idk y I'm having such bad luck w bags lately!!!! And to top it off... Just make me feel like I'm crazy person w unusually high expectations. All I want is a nice, soft NEW bag. Geesh!
Sorry.... Needed to vent. Lol
