MYH Forgot to mention a couple of favourite 70cm styles .
J'aime mon Carré : I do a thin bias fold, single knot 10cm from one end, sling round neck and thread other end through .Looks like a mens tie , but nicer [I don't care for the mens tie technique too much though it looks v similar]

F and F de Texas Permabrass Mors 90cm

Both styles best with low neck , and the first looks fab in neck of a shirt too .

Anyone remember the beautiful Charlotte? Her blog Scarfmoodist is full of flair and she has great 70cm ideas .

The J'aime looks so good on you! I don't normally see you in this colour but it's wonderful and the jauntiness of the knot works really well, I'll have to try this with my 70s

FrouFrou dear, how about a square knot for "j'aime mon carré"??

Looks brilliant on you , and the Rose Indien c'way is such a beauty.
I will try though I'm more of a messy , off the wall knotter !

Sorry for the delay! I got home too late last night. And sorry about the lighting too - this is the brightest spot in my house! Here is my Rose de Compas CSGM. I love these colors (it's a little brighter than it seems in the photos)! I was so lucky to find it - it's done a fair amount of traveling with me since I got it. This is the first time I've shared it on tPF (not for any particular reason - just never got around to it I guess). :)

Rose de Compass collection is amazing , love the shawl.

:hugs::wave: Jaunty is my new mantra !

This one I purchased towards the beginning of this year, from Jan (who is just wonderful!). I love love this cw!! I think it's just spectacular. This is my first jacquard scarf as well. I guess it was purchased in Paris because the accompanying "exchange" card is in French, and the tissue paper is different from what is used now (though that may be a timing thing, rather than a location thing). It just seems a little more special because of it, though maybe it's all in my head lol! And isn't it funny - the original Neige d'Antan scarf doesn't really speak to me, but I love the Detail. :smile1:

Oh, and I have my eye on another one, for my mom, because the price might be just right.
I love both these CWs, but the blue is particularly lovely!!

FrouFrou, I'm not even sure I could replicate this knot, LOL. As you can see from the azaleas in my yard, this is from April or May and I guess I was fooling around with ties and knots.

Wow! I'm away one night for the getting of Christmas trees and this thread goes wild!!! I hope I don't miss anyone!:

MYH: I rather love your lopsided snowball knot. The jauntiness is just right.

Klyneann: what a gorgeous CSGM. I don't usually go for green, but this is divine! And I love your two new 90s. I think the scarf hanging thing was greengoddess. You've done a great job, just hang it already! Haha! I particularly love the blue cw. Will that one be for wearing? And lastly, wow! That's a lot of RC twillys! All beautiful, I think one on far right is my favorite. Do you have a favorite?

Momasaurus: so lovely. I adore that scarf design.

I love that shawl!!! And these twillies are adorable. Really looks like stained glass.

Thank you, froufrou, momasaurus and Pirula! I stalked the blue one for several weeks. Thankfully it was still there when I was finally ready! Yes, I intend to wear the blue one - it doesn't quite scream Christmas in this cw. ;) Was it Greengoddess who did the DIY frame?? I'll have to thank her. Before this I had my Zebra Pegase on it (orange cw) and it really looked great (although, again, something about the magnets at the top doesn't sit right with me. maybe b/c the scarf dips? maybe I should get a strip magnet instead...?)! I do love twillies, Pirula. :graucho: I think my favorite of the RdC is the one on the far right, because it matches my colvert Evelyne!

Arrrrrrrrrggggghhhh!! Major Bummer to get outbid :nogood:

With this particular colorway, I really prefer to show off the snowflakes over the mistletoe. I just love the frostiness of this scarf!

Mr. Snowman insists you keep searching.

It's really beautiful Tango.

Honeylocks, that's a shame but keep looking! I've seen a lot of these lately. 'Tis the season I suppose.

Your Neige is so wintry and gorgeous. TBH - I kind of like the mistletoe showing better. And if you are standing on some stairs or steps, maybe DH will give you a kiss? Thank you for showing some close ups of yours. I have to admit I have been trying to resist getting this design too. I already have another wintry scarf and will having 3 seasonal scarves be too much? Tough decisions in our worlds eh?

Oh honey! I want to give you a hug. I'm so sorry that happened. As TT said, please keep looking. I do see them come up fairly often even throughout the year.

Sorry, but I have to rant : I lost the scarf last minute to somebody else at an auction. It did not reach a high price (but not worth much more due to some stains). The winner is hidden "private listing - bidders' identities protected". And now the same scarf with the same stains is listed by the same seller at the same starting price. Seems very strange :yucky:. Thanks for listening...

So frustrating. Probably buyers remorse, or a flake buyer who didn't pay. I lurk over at the eBay forum; learn a lot. You wouldn't believe some of the things buyers try to pull on sellers sometimes. But this is good news right? Are you going to try for it again?

I wanted to add a post today but I'm having the worst time taking pictures. It's just one of those days. The lighting is weird in the house and every pic has some strange shadows, or shows my neck to be extra wrinkly, or the scarf to look washed out, etc. etc. I think all you guys and gals know what I'm talking about if you are regulars on tPF. It's just one of those days but I'm going to persevere and do the best I can with the photos I have.

I wanted to feature a 70cm today, Rose de Compass. And unlike the 140s which I have endless creativity for, I am a bit stuck on the 70cms. So I'm hoping some of you can help us all out and offer suggestions. I adore the hand of the 70cms. I think there are two camps for silkies. Those that like soft and drapey scarves, and those that like the stiff and shape holding ones. I'm in the soft and drapey camp and will almost always wash my scarf by myself immediately after buying it. So 70cms are right up my alley. But I feel their size is a bit awkward. Just not big enough to wrap around my neck twice (no swan-like neck here) comfortably so I feel the options are limited. But this scarf, I could not resist. Hermes rarely makes scarves with alot of green in it. And I love green! I'm always drooling when PaperTiger posts all her green bags. She has the best green collection of leather in my opinion on PurseForum. So in this case, I saw it and knew immediately that it would be a great match for my chrysoprase earrings from Suzanne Felsen. Does anybody else love chrysoprase? I have two hands in the air. I adore this jadey green color on jewelry and accessories. And this scarf also has capucine in it and I love that color too. So it was mine once I set eyes on it at the boutique.

I'm not sure if this scarf ever had a following of admirers? It was kind of lukewarm I think on the forum. Did anyone else get this design? It also came out in a 140cm CSGM but none of the colorways screamed my name. If, however, it ever comes out in a 140cm giant silk, well I'm sure I could probably make one of the cws work for me.;)

Ok, back to tying. Other than a cowboy knot and short necklace knot, and bias fold criss cross knot, I'm not really sure what else to do with it? Any suggestions? Perhaps wear a 70cm with another 70cm? I just don't have another 70cm that goes well with the colors in this scarf. Here is my scarf shown with my Gris T Evelyne, those chrysoprase earrings I love, and an illusion bracelet in capucine. I also had one piece of beautiful soft green leather in my craft box so I made a four leaf clover out of it. I figure I need all the luck I can get.

Also, thank you everyone for your sweet comments about the leather ice skate bag charm I made. I started making some for friends as presents and if you want to see some others I have made, check out my instagram page. I put the link below in my signature.

You're amazing! What a wonderful/interesting thread :)
Have been lurking this thread for a while now

Gosh - the week has flown by and I have not contributed as much to the forum as I have wanted. But today, I have found some time and wanted to showcase another scarf.

I was cutting some feather charms yesterday and was reminded of a shawl I love with feathers in it. The story of this 140cm CSGM shawl is rather funny. After reading Unos thread for that season, I did not have any intention of trying it on at the boutique. I had even seen some pictures of this design purchased by others laid out on a bed or floor. The design and name of the shawl just didn't appeal to me and I didn't think it I would like it. Sous L'egide de Mars? A scarf about the armor worn by princes? Hmmm...I was not swooning. I don't know about you but when I see these exhibits at museums, I typically breeze through this section. I appreciate the work that goes into the armor of yesteryear and marvel at how heavy and hot the poor guys wearing them must have been, but that's about the height of my appreciation.

So one afternoon, I saunter into the boutique and my SA runs over and says they just received a beautiful new shawl design and she has set aside a cw she thought I might like. So I'm all excited and then she says it's the shawl about armor called Sous L'egide de Mars. Thud! My heart sank. Not that one! I'm not interested in that one. So I ask if she has anything else new (at this point, I was going to the boutique like twice a week, I know...seriously...I had it bad) and she said no. So since I didn't want to waste a trip down to the boutique, I agreed to try it on just for fun. She brought it out and opened it up in its entirety and held it out flat to show me. Hmmm...still not thrilled. But hey, I had already committed to trying it on and I didn't want to disappoint her. So she folded it for me and I flung it around my neck and then looked in the mirror. Instant LOVE!:heart::loveeyes::heart: What the heck just happened? I thought I was going to hate it? I didn't even like it when she held it up for me. I've thought about this many times and decided it's Hermes magic. There is simply no other explanation.

But logically, here's my explanation. The scale of the design gets lost when you look at this scarf several feet away. The delicate feather details and the funny people in the little circles just kind of blend together. But then, when it's worn and the design is close to your face, the scarf transforms because you are now looking at it much more close up and all these little details that blended before, now pop out! Wonderful! My favorite part of this scarf :cloud9::love: are the blue and gray feathers at the top. I love those corners to death. I'm sure they are pure fuzz by now because I almost always wear this shawl in cowboy with those corners showing. But I can't help it. Those feathers make me so happy.

So I'm not sure if you passed this one up but maybe take another look at it? I see it on eBay from time to time and I'm often tempted to buy a back-up shawl in the exact same colorway to use when this one wears out. And it's often for a good price because it does not photograph well. Seriously, when you take an aerial view of this scarf, I think it is one of the most unphotogenic Hermes scarves/shawls I have ever seen. But worn and appreciated close-up, it's so gorgeous.
