Scarves MYH's Scarf Showcase - and philosophical ramblings about how I built my collection

Hey there scarfies! Thanks for making me feel better about my mistake but now that I look back, it's really quite funny. Pirula - do you like that colorway of Balade en Berlines because you want to incorporate a fuchsia into your collex? or is it the border you like? I saw another BeB that has fuchsia in just one corner but not the rest of the scarf so it looks like it might be more subdued? Maybe look into that one? Let me see if I can post a pic. Btw - I love this scarf. It doesn't do much for me flat but tied, it's really spectacular. If I didn't already have so many scarves, I'm pretty sure this one would have come home with me

I can totally see you in this scarf. In these colors. It's lovely. But I'm at the point- getting close to the number of scarves that you have- that if I don't feel like I absolutely must have this scarf or I will die of longing without it in my collection I shouldn't buy it. It's a lovely scarf. But my heart won't ache without it. So it's a no for me. Thank God.

OK, let's continue.

Now you have a small triangle folded and scrunched and are ready to drape this whole thing around your neck. Pick it up carefully and using your best coordination skills, tie a square knot around the back of your neck. You want one tail going one direction and the other tail going the other. If this is really hard for you because there is so much fabric, you can also try just tying the knot while setting the scarf on your floor or bed. Trust me, the hole will be big enough for you to just put it on over your head after you have finished tying the knot.

OK, now just adjust the tails as you like around the front of your body. Voila! All done

Now some variations

Variation 1 - I know many of you like to do this cowboy weave know with your CSGMs. You still can. Just leave the knot in place and do the weave like you normally do.
This is how some of us like to wear our CSGMs

You can do the same with a giant silk

Variation 2 - Bring the tails around front and tie in a knot. To be honest, variation 2 stays put even without the knot in the back of my neck for me because it is nicely balanced. The tails and little knot in the front counterbalance the triangle bit in the front. But if you want to take out an insurance policy on this variation, keep the knot in the back of your neck.

Ok, there you go folks. 3 ways to wear a cowboy knot without slippage or constant adjusting. C'est facile non?

Any questions?

MYH I'm in dumb admiration of your scarf-ing , from choosing to knotting it's all faultlessly executed !
I have 3 silk GMs I never wear because they slip around and drive mad , you are giving me heart to give them a reprieve.

Frou frou - give them a chance! which 3 do you have? please share! How do you want to wear them? I will do it in my next lesson just for you!

I wonder too if it's a combination of bright with a detailed design. When in DC store, the SA pulled out a crazy bright De la Mer and I actually felt my eyes doing something strange looking at it! It was overwhelming.

Hmmm, now I'm worried because I put the bright pink Balade en Berline on my Christmas list. Perhaps I should remove it. It's not a particularly busy pattern though. Hmmmm....

Pirula I always like the way you choose and wear your scarves ,a lot.
I can see the Berline scarf ties well and maybe the fuchsia will be a good choice for you .

I really wish you could make me love this format!
it's not the size, love the CSGMs , but the acreage of silk which seems so unwieldy:
I only have to wash my hands and splat! a mark appears.

How I wear them is …infrequently !
The last airing was my sunset orange Psyche , the only one I still love although I have to be very much in the mood to reach for it ,When I do it's folded in a bias and draped to show as much of the interior as possible, just love the ochre with th burnt orange and magenta.
This is challenging to fold as the very bright orange sections are plain and very bright .
Getting up the images of it remind me of how much I love the plainer design.
I also love how the colours here are harmonious and not too contrasting.

Frou frou, this scarf is gorgeous. You've got to wear it. OK, if you think the border is humongous and too bright, then no cowboy knot. That will only accentuate the borders. How about a bias fold weave knot?

I also have a dark red Kelly en Perles , I don't like myself in it at all a,nd it is an example of being in love with a silk that looks great on someone else , I don't go there any more !

Third victim of neglect is a Surteint Brides de Gala I wore it a lot initially, it isn't difficult to style particularly but if feels a teeny bit boring.

MYH Yes, that's great idea !
I'll give it a go tomorrow and see what I can do .

Just reviewing this I'm thinking how bad I've been to neglect the Psyché and Brides de Gala Surteint .
I'm afaid I shall never get over the huge Hermès logos on the KEP .It's on consignment as we speak , as I said I learnt a lesson from this one!

I am so so sad to hear that they have been neglected. These silks are so special.

The BdG surteint I think is a smashing color for you. Maybe it could seem less boring if you could get the middle of the scarf to show with the gold bits. The border is wide and without design so I see what you mean about that. How have you been wearing BdG?

Kelly en Perles - yes I can see how this is a color that would be challenging with your complexion. The tags are still on! Maybe let this one go my dear. I'm sure you could find her a new home in a flash. She is quite pretty and looks very holiday festive. I'm sure someone would snap her up for a good price.

Yes , the KEP is very lovely indeed , just not on me.
As for the Surteint , I usually bias fold and do a weave knot,or just around neck once tails in front.
You've made me sharpen up my lazy scarf thinking MYH !
I find it so easy to reach for a 70cm or a CSGM I neglect the others, so tomorrow as I shall wear one of those two.
Thank you for the scarf-lift :flowers:
