Yes, expect both pics of Coupons Indienes on SOTD tomorrow afternoon. My camera and camera cord got separated, and won't be reunited (and it feel so good) until tomorrow.

Pocketbook Pup - well, my little confession is that if you have 300 pictures of me saved then 250 of those were inspired by the Late, Great Iris J. I have a style file of exclusively her on my computer. She hasn't been around since 2012, but she started a blog where all her scarf pictures and profiles are in the same place. http://hymneauxcarres.blogspot.com/

This is the type of stuff she would do. I have like 25 of hers. We both had an abiding love of white pants. I miss her :shucks:

Gosh - I miss Iris too ! Where the heck is that gorgeous gal! Her photos and styling were phenom - remember her beautiful cameos too? Talk about going back in time! I adore that trench and Quadridge wallet from our dear PT! Thanks for going down memory lane !

Hehehe I am probably not seeing the pulls and thinking they r fine[emoji23][emoji23]...I pretty much wear my scarf the same boring way every time as u can see from the pics [emoji16][emoji16].... Boring? Not at all! You look fantastic. In your case, "boring" = "fabulous formula that you know works for you." Besides, the beauty of a well designed H scarf is that you don't HAVE to think of a million ways to style the scarf because the design creates a strong focal point, no matter what.

We're waiting for our Indian takeout to be delivered so I thought I would squeeze in one quick post. I said early on I would share my mistakes as well so here goes. Remember how I said I loved the CDC design? Well, I was over zealous about owning another cw and bought one completely out of my comfort zone. It is bright! Like really bright. I fell into the trap of thinking that I had nothing like this cw in my collection so therefore I should buy it and fill the hole. I should branch out! Stop playing it safe. Well, that went over like a lead balloon. I could t even bring myself to wear it out. It was too flashy. I felt like a billboard in it. So I guess the lesson is expand your horizons but don't push yourself so far out of your comfort zone. And don't fall into the trap of having to own scarves of every color. If you already have a rather large collection and don't have a bright fuschia scarf, there's probably a reason why. I found this scarf a new home a long time ago and I hope she is happy there. Here's my CDC mistake.

OK, the 140 tutorial will start tomorrow morning. 9am PST. But really, I do not profess to be all knowing when it comes to scarf tying for giant silks, so if you have a better way or a fresh idea, please jump in! Participation is welcome in my class. In fact, extra credit points for doing so.

Eternallove4bag - you can wear a 140 giant silk the same way you do a CSGM without the tails slipping and the whole scarf unraveling around your neck. Just tie a simple square knot behind your neck and drape the tails down around the cowboy triangle in the front. Nobody will see the knot behind your neck or notice especially if you wear your hair down. This will keep everything in place. Does that make sense?

MYH, I have loved your scarf thread! Can't wait to see you in your 140s! And honey, I have a nice little C/S collection and unlike my friends who LOVE them, I count every pill, any snag or run torments me and I count them too. BUT, they do hang and wrap in a cowboy knot beautifully, luxuriously..... Maybe one, okay? XO

Sorry Pirula! I didn't mean to scare you. If you are careful with your CSGMs, then I'm sure you'll have no problem. But I am pretty hard on my scarves so the CSGMs end up look tatty after several uses. I would love to see your 90cm CdF. Which cw is it?

It's the same as Pirula's, I played safe with this one because I knew it would be my day>evening fixer.

LOL on your CDC mistake, such a beautiful mistake and one my mother thinks was made especially with her in mind (we have different colouring ;)).

Here's my Coup MYH:

It was the second scarf I acquired and part of my H orange education. I just love it, even though I know others with blue (like yours and PbP's) would probably be more conventionally flattering on me. But I like how this one works, so long as I'm careful to keep the mustard parts away from my face it's quite flattering and different from anything else I have. I don't know the cw, it came to me pre-loved with no cw tag.

I'm happy to be twins with you :hugs:

Oh yes, I loved that colorway so much  And I almost bought it. But at the time I had already bought some red/orange scarves recently and I wanted to go in a different direction. I bought the blue colorway instead, and I adore it. But I wish I would have gotten both cws. This is one of those designs where it doesn't feel redundant to have multiple cws.

View attachment 3183938

You look so good in the blue, this was another effortless and sophisticated cw

And speaking of elegant and stylish enablers whose photos have inspired me over the years...

Papertiger, while I was hunting up my style file of Iris J photos I saved back in 2012, look what else I found. Even now it makes me go :faint:

Ok, yes, lesson learned. It is a bit busy and bright at the same time. Probably a bit too much. Certainly not your style. You have a very specific elegant style. I generally chose scarves that were a lot like yours in the beginning. That's probably why we have a few in common and why I enjoy your posts so much. Toward late summer I had a burst of wanting brights. Hopefully I chose wisely. Only time will tell I suppose. Now I feel the pendulum swinging back to neutrals and more subtle color ways. Maybe it was a seasonal thing.

Alrighty.

I think this is quite lovely actually, but can readily see how this was a complete departure for you. I also get that that feeling of having a spotlight on you is no good. Its beauty made it worth a try though.

I see where this is bright for you, but in the first shot you have tied it to minimize that effect.
Actually, my least favorite scarf is fuschia and purple mors et gourmettes remix. I bought this early on, encouraged by DH and SA. I think it looks good on me, but it seems so bright, I have only worn it a few times. Now sometimes I just say too bright! When SA pulls out certain combos, and won't even try them on.

I wonder too if it's a combination of bright with a detailed design. When in DC store, the SA pulled out a crazy bright De la Mer and I actually felt my eyes doing something strange looking at it! It was overwhelming.

Hmmm, now I'm worried because I put the bright pink Balade en Berline on my Christmas list. Perhaps I should remove it. It's not a particularly busy pattern though. Hmmmm....

Awwww!!! Thank u so much dhfwu :hugs: that is super sweet of u[emoji173]️[emoji173]️ I do agree that H scarves r pieces of art that need little styling. Even a novice like me can wear them! The designs r a statement by themselves [emoji173]️

Omg!!! That totally resonated with me!!! Great advice since I was totally thinking on those lines that I should probably have one in each color!!! U r absolutely right!!! I should stick to the colors that suit me!!! Although I do like the scarf u wore! Me and my love for bright colors :shaking my head:

Hey there scarfies! Thanks for making me feel better about my mistake but now that I look back, it's really quite funny. Pirula - do you like that colorway of Balade en Berlines because you want to incorporate a fuchsia into your collex? or is it the border you like? I saw another BeB that has fuchsia in just one corner but not the rest of the scarf so it looks like it might be more subdued? Maybe look into that one? Let me see if I can post a pic. Btw - I love this scarf. It doesn't do much for me flat but tied, it's really spectacular. If I didn't already have so many scarves, I'm pretty sure this one would have come home with me

OK, Session 1 of the 140cm Giant Silk Tutorial

It is my belief that there is nothing you can't do with a 140cm giant silk that you can't do with a 140 CSGM. All you need to know are a few simple concepts
1) use knots strategically to help you
2) take into consideration that this scarf will slip so you need to consider gravity and weight
3) consider a quick wash or dry clean because you want this scarf to drape and not be too starchy

Before we begin, I'd like to say please interject with questions! I would love to hear back from everyone. If you have something to add or have better way to do it, please share with the class! We all want to know, including myself. Participation is key because we all want to learn from each other. OK, now turn off your cellphones. This is going to require total focus and concentration. Just kidding!

Let's begin with a simple cowboy knot. I know that's how many of you like to wear your CSGMs and there are a couple of variations I can show you.

OK, first. The triangle. It's huge and we gotta make it smaller. Instead of just starting at the top and scrunching/accordion fold it down, I first make TWO big folds down about 6-7 inches wide before I do a couple of scrunches. Why? Well, if you just start scrunching at the top, you will get alot of folds and in my opinion, this can look too messy and busy around ones neck. Kind of reminds me of a sharpei.

First do your big folds
ImageUploadedByPurseForum1447262676.171877.jpg
Then scrunch a few times
ImageUploadedByPurseForum1447262693.439862.jpg

If you don't fold
ImageUploadedByPurseForum1447262714.525157.jpg
ImageUploadedByPurseForum1447262765.564044.jpg

If you do fold
ImageUploadedByPurseForum1447262737.225339.jpg

A big hint here. I don't leave a big triangle when doing cowboy. It's my personal preference. My triangle bit is only about a foot long. I am petite and if you think about it, I only have about a foot of real estate on my chest for a scarf if I want it to stay above my waist line.
ImageUploadedByPurseForum1447262877.400823.jpg
If you like a big triangle, then by all means, go for it. It also will leave you less tails to work with though.
