OK, Session 1 of the 140cm Giant Silk Tutorial
It is my belief that there is nothing you can't do with a 140cm giant silk that you can't do with a 140 CSGM. All you need to know are a few simple concepts
1) use knots strategically to help you
2) take into consideration that this scarf will slip so you need to consider gravity and weight
3) consider a quick wash or dry clean because you want this scarf to drape and not be too starchy
Before we begin, I'd like to say please interject with questions! I would love to hear back from everyone. If you have something to add or have better way to do it, please share with the class! We all want to know, including myself. Participation is key because we all want to learn from each other. OK, now turn off your cellphones. This is going to require total focus and concentration. Just kidding!
Let's begin with a simple cowboy knot. I know that's how many of you like to wear your CSGMs and there are a couple of variations I can show you.
OK, first. The triangle. It's huge and we gotta make it smaller. Instead of just starting at the top and scrunching/accordion fold it down, I first make TWO big folds down about 6-7 inches wide before I do a couple of scrunches. Why? Well, if you just start scrunching at the top, you will get alot of folds and in my opinion, this can look too messy and busy around ones neck. Kind of reminds me of a sharpei.
First do your big folds

Then scrunch a few times
If you don't fold
If you do fold
A big hint here. I don't leave a big triangle when doing cowboy. It's my personal preference. My triangle bit is only about a foot long. I am petite and if you think about it, I only have about a foot of real estate on my chest for a scarf if I want it to stay above my waist line.

If you like a big triangle, then by all means, go for it. It also will leave you less tails to work with though.
