Just stopping by to thank MyH for her inspiration in buying this de la mer which I'm wearing for the first time today., I saw her photos months ago but actually ordered it on line two weeks ago when I learned that it was sold out in France. Here it is with my GT Kelly also inspired by MyH. View attachment 3183772View attachment 3183773

It's perfect with the bag!! [emoji122]🏻

I had some time today and thought, why not?, let's do one more. And the faster I finish, the sooner PbP will start her showcase thread! :yahoo:

Like many of you, 140cms are my absolute favorite. But honestly, I find the CSGMs too high maintenance. I love their snuggle factor as well as their ability to hold a knot easily (no slippage) but the runs...oh the runs...as we have witnessed Mrs. Owen demonstrate recently on her fixing a pulled thread thread (yes I meant to write thread
twice lol) happens way to often. I wear rings, I wear necklaces, and they all get caught on a CSGM. The angst of a pulled thread drives me to insanity sometimes when I'm traveling and don't have a needle around to fix it immediately. And let's not even talk about the pilling. I have even bought special brushes from the laundress to minimize the pilling but it always comes back. I know for certain that my shawls will not last forever and at Hermes prices, I would really like the items I buy to last forever. So for me, the second best alternative is a 140cm silk. The only downside is that they are more expensive (but cheaper than CSGMs!) and only 2 designs are issued every season. :shucks: So that does not leave me a lot of designs to choose from. I only have 4 in my collection but I think they are my most used scarves (aside from mousselines in the summer). They wear like the 90cm silks and I do feel like they will last practically forever. Interestingly, the weight of the 140cms changes all the time. I have felt some that were whisper thin, some that feel like 90cms in weight, and some in between. It seems like Hermes is changing the formula on this format all the time. They even once did a perforated one with astrologie nouvelle. Does anybody here still have one? I never got to feel or see one in person but I thought that was super interesting.

So with every new season, that's where my focus goes to first. But I am picky! Since the size of the scarf is big, I prefer the design to have a medium-large format. I adored the tapis persian design from last season but I felt the little flowers and designs were too busy for me. Then they did brides de gala, which I also couldn't do because of the wide border and the astronauts. So I'm crossing my fingers the SS2016 season brings something I will love. For all these reasons, this is only why I have 4 measly 140cm silks. Boohoo!

With the 140cms though, one does need to get a bit more creative in tying and knotting if you one wants their scarf to stay in place. A couple of well placed knots usually does the trick. Scarf rings are also quite useful with the 140cms. For instance, with the CSGM, if you want to do an infinity knot, you can just loop around your neck twice and you are set. With the 140cm silks, not so fast! If you just throw two loops around your head, one loop will inevitably be heavier than the other and that loop will start to sink lower and lower, while the small loop starts to choke you! So the best thing to do here is to do a knot in front of you and then tie in back of your neck (like in this pic) or loop twice and instead of just knotting the two scarf ends you are holding, incorporate the bit of scarf laying on your neck into the knot.

I have been on the fence about this scarf at times. Really, does anyone think brown, orange, navy, periwinkle, turquoise, and white is a good idea? It has been on the chopping block several times but each time I look at it, the design and colors just make me swoon. I love the Coup de Fouet design. It has horseys but in a modern geometric way. My hubs loves it too and many friends have said, no! it stays. So I have grown to love it except for the turquoise bits that don't look good near my face. This scarf requires lots of spatial calculations when I'm considering which knot to use but I guess it will make my mind sharper! Like a scarf puzzle. The other downside of this scarf is that it is almost strictly a fall/winter one. The colors in it do not lend well to spring/summer. And in a way, that's why I chose it. At the time I bought it, I already had both astrologie nouvelles and a fleurs d'indiennes scarf. The AN scarves could work in all seasons and the FdI only works in the spring/summer so I figured I could use a darker more wintery scarf in my 140cm collection. I tend to look at each format as it's own little capsule collection. I try to cover the spectrum within each size. So on a cold wintery day in Philly when we were having an epic snowstorm and power outage, I headed to KOP for some retail therapy and this scarf came home with me. I think of it as my power outage scarf lol.

I love Coup de Fouet and have my own in a 90. The colors in yours are fantastic! Ties fabulous as always.

You've put the fear of God into me on CSGMs.

I'm sorry I have been away. This thread has grown cobwebs due to my neglect. :spiderweb: I'll have to put in extra effort this week! Good thing I never started a blog. I don't think I would have ever been able to keep up.

OK, this week I'm going to feature a scarf that has a lot of yellow in it, a color I don't really like or want to wear. Inexplicably, I seem to have quite a few accessories to match it so I'm confused myself! :confused1: I'm drawn to yellow because it's such a fun, cheerful color but really, I don't look that great in it. But a recent purchase at H has reignited my love for yellow so I thought it would be fun to take a pic of yellow H knick knacks.

My impulse/carefully thought out purchase was made last week at the SF store. I have been trying to find a solution for keeping my jewelry organized when I'm traveling. I started seeing posts of the zoulou coin purse and thought that might be good. So I asked for it but decided, it just wasn't big enough. When I explained to my SA what I wanted to use it for she was like, OH! I have just the thing! She brings out three boxes and shows me these leather jewelry trays that can be packed flat or snapped together. Ugh...I was a goner. And they were all bicolor - resistance is futile. I saw malachite/etoupe, feu/gris tourterelle, and gold/jaune. In my mind, this is not a frivolous purchase. :giggles: If it helps me from losing jewelry, then it's worth every penny right? And how many of you have used the hotel safes that are located on the very top shelf of the closet? Umm...how am I supposed to be able to see if I've taken all my jewelry out when I have to stretch my arm above my head and feel around in that black hole? I've even dragged the swivel chair over from the desk and stood on that just to check with my iPhone on flashlight mode. Oh the indignities of traveling!

But onto the scarf. This is supposed to be a scarf showcase thread right? Well yes, but I can't help myself when I buy other pretty things at H. I'm sure you'll all forgive me. And I take full responsibility if you all want to run out and buy leather jewelry trays. I know...it's all my fault.

OK, focus MYH! Back to topic. When this scarf was released, I was like "oh finally, I can own something CDC" because unlike many of you, I just cannot pull the CDC bracelets off. For some reason, on my arm, it looks like a murder weapon. I think I heard this from someone else on tPF and it stuck with me because it rang true. But the upside is, I don't have another thing H thing to be addicted to. So when I heard there was going to be a whole scarf full of CDCs, I was on it! I really liked two cws of it but both had a lot of yellow in them, especially on the borders. But no fear, just use the necklace knot trick and all is good in the world. I don't wear this one in a cowboy really because then the scarf is almost all yellow. But the reason I got this scarf is because it has a lot of blues and blacks in it and is a great evening dressy scarf and at the time, I wanted to add something in that category to my collection. It also works wonderfully with gold jewelry as you would imagine.

Your cw is def one of the more sophisticated of the set. Mine has a dark grey background and not only a yolk/sunshine yellow but also golds, silver and light, bright navy, a whole different vibe, in fact someone 'accused' me of wearing Versace. It is one of my most used scarves and actually goes with my 2 black ghw CDCs without going for the whole heavy black/gold thing. It looks great tied with a Romance or flattened Chaine d'Ancre as a belt or as a turban. The olive was really my 'natural' colour but it was also tamer. It was obviously go Gloria Swanson or GO :D

My little collection of 140cm silks.

I have not heard anyone talk about favouring silks over the CSGMs. I have a couple of cashmeres and I keep 'forgetting' to wear them. Maybe it's because I'm running around getting too warm (it's certainly not seasonally cold here ATM) or because I still think of the cashmeres as too special. I certainly think about my jewellery when wearing CSGMs, the silks feel so much more durable.

I have always wanted the right H 140 though! I've 140s in other makes but no H as yet. Thanks so much for your honest review and tips on how to tie them. I should have bought the CdF but my store (and on-line) has such a pitiful selection of 140 silks. You would think with 4 stores near me I could have tracked one down but my mind is ot always on shopping.... :-s Anyway, I'm happy with the CdF cw I have (a 90) and now looking forward to new 140 designs (Pegase d'Hermes would be stunning!). There is something so elegant and stylish about Coup de Fouet, I sometimes wear mine as a bolero and you could always wear it as an evening cape or kimono jacket.

MYH, this is so timely...I just got two giant silks in the past few months and have yet to wear them, I am uncertain just how to handle them....Do you think they look dressier than the CSGMs as they are silk? I need to fit them into a very casual lifestyle.

Uh oh!!! I am in so much trouble!!! All I have r CSGMs but happy to report that I have been using them to death everyday and till now no pillage! Thank god [emoji33][emoji33] but who knows about the future! May have to be more careful with them! But I think shawls and scarves should be enjoyed and should give us joy out of wearing them! I know at some point they will have pulls but that's the beauty! They will be well worn and well loved [emoji12]

I have been seriously thinking about trying my hand at the 140 silks and after seeing beautiful pics of them.. U have some beautiful pieces MYH and recently Pocketbook Pup and MrsOwen had me gasping for breath with their GORGEOUS Tapis [emoji7][emoji173]️[emoji7][emoji173]️... I am seriously looking forward to trying them! The only thing keeping me till now was I don't know how to keep those slippery beauties in place. I teach at a university and I want to wear something which will stay in place as I write things on the board or as I move around the classroom! My students will have a field day if I spent half the time adjusting and re-adjusting my scarf [emoji16][emoji16] ... That's why I like the cashmere since I can just throw them on casually.
Any suggestions pls on how to keep the silks in one place? With H I would be crazy not to try their huge array of options in terms of scarves and shawls so I want to try my hand at everything in all sizes.. Question is will they suit me? But the more inspiring pics I see I am gathering up my courage to go outside my comfort zone and try something new! May take me time but hopefully will get there [emoji4]
Till then ur amazing thread, TangoTosca's fabulous thread will give me more inspiration[emoji7][emoji173]️[emoji7]

Sorry Pirula! I didn't mean to scare you. If you are careful with your CSGMs, then I'm sure you'll have no problem. But I am pretty hard on my scarves so the CSGMs end up look tatty after several uses. I would love to see your 90cm CdF. Which cw is it?

I know exactly which CDC cw you have because that was my other choice. Yes, it also has tons of yellow and gold in it. Your comment about Versace made me  I guess one could say it has that "vibe". Hilarious. I'm jealous you can wear yours in a turban. There is no way I could pull that off.

Just be patient and the right 140cm silk will come your way. There are only 2 designs per season so it's tough to get "the one". I understand your pain. Which cw of CdF in 90cm do you have? It seems like this design might be a favorite here on tPF. I also knows Klynneann has a 90cm CdF too. I couldn't believe my ears when I heard you have 4 stores near you? Oh, sounds like H heaven. I must say, I have had to cool my jets ever since I moved to LA. I now live about 1 hour away from the BH boutique whereas in the past, I lived 10 minutes from the KOP boutique. It has definitely helped me with my ban.

Coup is a natural for you! It's a very elegant modern design. I have a 90 in this design but I love 140s. I think it's perhaps my favorite format. I wish they made more. And this season's two designs did not entice me at all. The colors here are perfect for you. It is definitely a keeper. Do not get rid of it. Ever. Or if you do send it to me. Have you ever tried the coup de fouet in a 140 mousseline? I have seen several in the past few months but declined to have them removed from the package. Doh!!! As DH would say.

Triplets dear, and I love wearing this scarf with deep slate blue. It looks phenomenal tied. Like those trays, too, but would rather save the finds for what else? MORE silks of course LOL.
Lanit - I just realized I didn't respond to your comment in my previous group of responses! Sorry dear. Yes, I do know you have this one too! I saw you model it on SOTD once and felt somehow vindicated that you chose the same colorway because I always think your choices are bang on. It's always fun to be triplets with someone as experienced in scarf picking as you.

Thank you! I have never tried this knot before. It's perfect with this scarf. I also didn't know the trick about getting the necklace knot right. And you are right. It's perfect with the GT Kelly. How did I not think of that before?!? I think my mind gets used to seeing the scarves in a certain way and it interferes with seeing their full potential.
I know...it's called the scarf rut. Sometimes I think of a scarf as only going with a black top or blue top, and then I pair it with a camel or tan top and it looks fabulous. And then I am ecstatic because I just found new uses for an "old" item.

This is a perfect example of a scarf that I would have overlooked. Flat, it's rather OK but tied, simply amazing!

That CDC scarf looks stunning on you!
Thanks TGG and Kyokei. I'm happy you are enjoying my pics.

Thank you MYH, for opening our eyes to yet another H item to want!! Love this scarf design, I have it in another CW and wear it so often, it is one of the best tying designs in my humble opinion, and your CW is really quite stunning! Now off to check out those adorable jewelry trays...:graucho:
Yes, please go buy those trays so I don't buy more. Cheers to being sisters or cousins (so confused about the relation) on the CDC scarf.

PbP, we will fight over MYH's CdF if she ever tries to get rid of it lol! I just love this cw. And OMG, you've seen moussie CdFs in the boutique?? Recently??!

I have both a 90 and 140 cm CdF. My 90 is "new to me" and I LOVE it - it's all blues and turquoises!! The 140 was inspired by jyyanks - after seeing her modeling pics I had to have it! It's mainly pink and orange and I love this one too, but find it harder to wear b/c of the '"gold" in it that isn't really gold but more brownish. For some reason I feel like I have a harder time wearing the 140s, but really I probably just need to make more of an effort. It seems like they should be more versatile, but I just can't figure it out...

I only have one CSGM and I have noticed that it has been getting kind of roughed up (if that makes any sense) the more I wear it. Not pilly, exactly, but fuzzy. :( But I do love it so and would love a few more!

So funny - I don't care for CDCs either, they just don't seem right on me somehow. Maybe they're just a little too big? I have often thought about getting the CDC scarf as sort of a way of compensating lol. And the one I have often thought about getting is this "Versace" one lol!

I think it's probably a good thing I wasn't into H scarves when CdF came out because I love so many of the cws - it would have been a serious problem!

MYH! How is it that I just discovered your thread? I usually only read a few TPF threads in an attempt to keep my budget balanced. As you know, I got the same Mawari dip dye because you showcased it so well before. And I already have two CDC scarves, though in different cws. I thought this one had too much gold and white for me, but love how you used the asymmetric knot to display the beige part. Desperately trying to resist hunting this down. . . :sweatdrop: I love the CDC pattern so much, I really could have bought 4 cws and used them all.
Perfumegirl - I am honored you chose a Marwari dip dye because of me. Maybe I'll feature that one next and you could also show how you wear yours? You already have two CDC scarves? which cws? I will confess, I did at one point own the bright fuchsia background one with greens and turquoises as accent colors. I wore it a couple of times and then had to rehome it because it was so bright! I am such a wallflower and felt uncomfortable in it. I wanted another cw so bad but made a mistake when purchasing that crazy bright one. Please post yours for us to see!

It's that time of year when you're trying to squeeze in all the doctors appointments you've been putting off the last ten months. I'm stuck in a waiting room, but at least I can finally catch up on the latest.

So many great things to comment on, MYH. What a fun post. The vision of you standing on the swivel chair in the hotel room made me laugh.

We are on the same wavelength regarding the CdC bracelets. I have tried them on three different times now, most recently last week in fauve. I just can't do it! I've got the height to carry it off and everything; I can't claim to be too petite or that it overwhelms me. But they just seem so bulky, I much prefer the Kelly Double Tour.

And yet I know the CdC is an iconic Hermes piece and I was regretful I didn't love it. So I thought it was just the best thing ever when this scarf was released!! Finally I could enjoy the beauty of CdCs without committing to a big leather bracelet. CdC in a GM cashmere was the perfect solution for me. http://forum.purseblog.com/showpost.php?p=25242605&postcount=1136

I also sympathize about yellow. It's a happy, cheerful color and I like to look at it - we painted our new dining room golden yellow - But I very much agree it can be hard to wear near one's face. My equivalent is the purple and yellow Sangles de Phoebus, and if anything it's worse because there's no way to tie it to hide the yellow. It is, however, the best thing to wear during an LSU football game. Geaux Tigers!!! http://forum.purseblog.com/hermes/tangotoscas-scarf-circus-647034-26.html#post20272544

That's a neat trick of giving the 90 a twist or two before putting a knot in the middle. I'll have to give that a shot. Maybe next week with Skyros!

Such very pretty photographs and nice styling of CdC scarf with jewelry holder filled with your beautiful collection of black and yellow jewelry. What a stylish solution to your jewelry travel challenges. No more swivel chair!

Your thread made the hour in the waiting room so much more bearable. So grateful!
TT - thank you for your long and thoughtful response. It's music to my ears that this thread kept you entertained while at the doctors office. Part of the fun of starting a thread is seeing the responses and conversations it sparks. I'm glad I'm not alone on the CDCs. I'm sure you have thin long beautiful arms and can totally carry it but in the end, you have to feel comfortable wearing it. I think the KDTs are great too and easier on the wallet! Sometimes I am grateful I don't collect them because that would eat up quite alot of my silk budget! But that does not stop me from trying one on from time to time. Usually my little sis is with me and here are her comments
- it makes your arm look short and stumpy
- it doesn't match your wardrobe - too edgy
- you don't even own one moto jacket. it's not you
- how are you going to type or write with those spiky things
- just buy another bracelet sis

And with that, I admit defeat.

MYH, this is so timely...I just got two giant silks in the past few months and have yet to wear them, I am uncertain just how to handle them....Do you think they look dressier than the CSGMs as they are silk? I need to fit them into a very casual lifestyle.
Katekluet - I guess my first question to you is how do you typically wear your CSGMs? I think I would have better advice for you if I knew you preferred way to wear large shawls. And yes, I think they do look a bit dresser than CSGMs but not by much. A lot really depends on the design, the cw, and your knot. Which two giant silks did you acquire recently? Please post pics hon so we can all help you.

Yes! a sister in crime that loves the 140cms too! :ghi5: OK, back the train up! You have seen 140cm mousselines in CdF? I have NEVER seen one at a boutique. What cws PbP? I need to know right now. It is a matter of life and death. Please concentrate and rattle off the cws you saw. Close your eyes and visualize. Help me! I have only seen one cw on eBay and it doesn't do anything for me. Get them to take those beauties out of the plastic wrap. And sneak pictures while you're at it. :graucho:

Yes, you are right! Shawls and scarves should be enjoyed. I am in awe you have not experienced pills. Good for you! maybe I have rough man hands? usually it's the prongs of my engagement ring that is the culprit for the snags.
I totally understand about not adjusting and readjusting a shawl. it's so embarrassing. But you are right...they are a bit slippery and will need you to employ some creative scarf tying. I think they will suit you - you just need to find the right design, cw, and knot. How do you usually wear your CSGMs? If I knew that, I could certainly recommend some knots that stay in place

Hi kate! I think the silk 140s can very easily look dressed up, but I also think that they definitely have a place in a casual lifestyle. I think if you're wearing, say jeans and a t-shirt, throwing on a silk 140 doesn't necessarily "dress it up," rather it just adds a bit of "polish" to the outfit.

Here's my Coup MYH:

It was the second scarf I acquired and part of my H orange education. I just love it, even though I know others with blue (like yours and PbP's) would probably be more conventionally flattering on me. But I like how this one works, so long as I'm careful to keep the mustard parts away from my face it's quite flattering and different from anything else I have. I don't know the cw, it came to me pre-loved with no cw tag.
