PbP, we will fight over MYH's CdF if she ever tries to get rid of it lol! I just love this cw. And OMG, you've seen moussie CdFs in the boutique?? Recently??!

I have both a 90 and 140 cm CdF. My 90 is "new to me" and I LOVE it - it's all blues and turquoises!! The 140 was inspired by jyyanks - after seeing her modeling pics I had to have it! It's mainly pink and orange and I love this one too, but find it harder to wear b/c of the '"gold" in it that isn't really gold but more brownish. For some reason I feel like I have a harder time wearing the 140s, but really I probably just need to make more of an effort. It seems like they should be more versatile, but I just can't figure it out...
That's what I said? CdF? Recently? Where? spill it PbP. Klynneann - I would love to see your cw. Will you post some mod pics for us? I agree - the 140cm silks take some figuring out. Perhaps I should do a little 140cm tutorial on the different ways I wear mine? Go over different ways to knot?

I only have one CSGM and I have noticed that it has been getting kind of roughed up (if that makes any sense) the more I wear it. Not pilly, exactly, but fuzzy. :( But I do love it so and would love a few more!

So funny - I don't care for CDCs either, they just don't seem right on me somehow. Maybe they're just a little too big? I have often thought about getting the CDC scarf as sort of a way of compensating lol. And the one I have often thought about getting is this "Versace" one lol!

I think it's probably a good thing I wasn't into H scarves when CdF came out because I love so many of the cws - it would have been a serious problem!
Yes, you described it better. FUZZY. i don't like fuzzy. I brush and brush away the fuzz but it always comes back. I would really like to hear from the gals that bought the recent CSGMs (70% cashmere, 30% silk) how it has held up. Any fuzziness? Anyone worn theirs more than 10 times yet? I vote for you getting the Versace one. I think it would like dynamite on you.

Yes yes! 140 tutorial please!!! In return I'll spill the beans on the coup moussies.

Here's my Coup MYH:

It was the second scarf I acquired and part of my H orange education. I just love it, even though I know others with blue (like yours and PbP's) would probably be more conventionally flattering on me. But I like how this one works, so long as I'm careful to keep the mustard parts away from my face it's quite flattering and different from anything else I have. I don't know the cw, it came to me pre-loved with no cw tag.
This is gorgeous! Looks like fuchsia, coral, white, mustard, brown, melon. I do agree, it's kind of an unusual cw but all the colors work so well together. Thanks for sharing! I love seeing others scarves in the same design but different colorways.

Hi kate! I think the silk 140s can very easily look dressed up, but I also think that they definitely have a place in a casual lifestyle. I think if you're wearing, say jeans and a t-shirt, throwing on a silk 140 doesn't necessarily "dress it up," rather it just adds a bit of "polish" to the outfit.

Well put. Frankly I feel this is true of the 90s as well. Except perhaps the most traditional, formal designs. But that's me.

Why thanks!

Actually no fuschia. Coral, tangerine, pinky melon, gold, mustard, white and brown. Oh and red red.

Oh yes, I loved that colorway so much  And I almost bought it. But at the time I had already bought some red/orange scarves recently and I wanted to go in a different direction. I bought the blue colorway instead, and I adore it. But I wish I would have gotten both cws. This is one of those designs where it doesn't feel redundant to have multiple cws.

Agree completely. This being Honoré week, I wore my Coupons Indien yesterday and today, but on a different bias with jeans and a skirt. Two different looks - formal and casual - but same scarf. 90cm are so versatile!

MYH - must say that though the 140 ssilks are fabulous, including your CdF (especially this colorway), the CSGMs are so beautiful to wear in the cold weather. I do agree they can be fragile, but for my most worn CSGM's I dont even look for pulls, runs or imperfections any more LOL. They are rather like old blankies, especially if one travels with them. The saturation of the colors in different designs are richer or softer than the twill counterparts. I waited almost too late when the La Femme shawl came out in the 140 CSGM due to concerns about snagging and delicate handling. All the chatter on quality and care on threads? All those concerns go right out the window after swathing oneself in the 140 GMs. I hope you will give one a try someday dear. I look back and do not regret leaping for the La Femme shawl and slipped down that slope many moons ago  Here you go - the thrill of the cocoon in a Grail.:graucho:

I had some time today and thought, why not?, let's do one more. And the faster I finish, the sooner PbP will start her showcase thread! :yahoo:

Like many of you, 140cms are my absolute favorite. But honestly, I find the CSGMs too high maintenance. I love their snuggle factor as well as their ability to hold a knot easily (no slippage) but the runs...oh the runs...as we have witnessed Mrs. Owen demonstrate recently on her fixing a pulled thread thread (yes I meant to write thread
twice lol) happens way to often. I wear rings, I wear necklaces, and they all get caught on a CSGM. The angst of a pulled thread drives me to insanity sometimes when I'm traveling and don't have a needle around to fix it immediately. And let's not even talk about the pilling. I have even bought special brushes from the laundress to minimize the pilling but it always comes back. I know for certain that my shawls will not last forever and at Hermes prices, I would really like the items I buy to last forever. So for me, the second best alternative is a 140cm silk. The only downside is that they are more expensive (but cheaper than CSGMs!) and only 2 designs are issued every season. :shucks: So that does not leave me a lot of designs to choose from. I only have 4 in my collection but I think they are my most used scarves (aside from mousselines in the summer). They wear like the 90cm silks and I do feel like they will last practically forever. Interestingly, the weight of the 140cms changes all the time. I have felt some that were whisper thin, some that feel like 90cms in weight, and some in between. It seems like Hermes is changing the formula on this format all the time. They even once did a perforated one with astrologie nouvelle. Does anybody here still have one? I never got to feel or see one in person but I thought that was super interesting.

So with every new season, that's where my focus goes to first. But I am picky! Since the size of the scarf is big, I prefer the design to have a medium-large format. I adored the tapis persian design from last season but I felt the little flowers and designs were too busy for me. Then they did brides de gala, which I also couldn't do because of the wide border and the astronauts. So I'm crossing my fingers the SS2016 season brings something I will love. For all these reasons, this is only why I have 4 measly 140cm silks. Boohoo!

With the 140cms though, one does need to get a bit more creative in tying and knotting if you one wants their scarf to stay in place. A couple of well placed knots usually does the trick. Scarf rings are also quite useful with the 140cms. For instance, with the CSGM, if you want to do an infinity knot, you can just loop around your neck twice and you are set. With the 140cm silks, not so fast! If you just throw two loops around your head, one loop will inevitably be heavier than the other and that loop will start to sink lower and lower, while the small loop starts to choke you! So the best thing to do here is to do a knot in front of you and then tie in back of your neck (like in this pic) or loop twice and instead of just knotting the two scarf ends you are holding, incorporate the bit of scarf laying on your neck into the knot.

I have been on the fence about this scarf at times. Really, does anyone think brown, orange, navy, periwinkle, turquoise, and white is a good idea? It has been on the chopping block several times but each time I look at it, the design and colors just make me swoon. I love the Coup de Fouet design. It has horseys but in a modern geometric way. My hubs loves it too and many friends have said, no! it stays. So I have grown to love it except for the turquoise bits that don't look good near my face. This scarf requires lots of spatial calculations when I'm considering which knot to use but I guess it will make my mind sharper! Like a scarf puzzle. The other downside of this scarf is that it is almost strictly a fall/winter one. The colors in it do not lend well to spring/summer. And in a way, that's why I chose it. At the time I bought it, I already had both astrologie nouvelles and a fleurs d'indiennes scarf. The AN scarves could work in all seasons and the FdI only works in the spring/summer so I figured I could use a darker more wintery scarf in my 140cm collection. I tend to look at each format as it's own little capsule collection. I try to cover the spectrum within each size. So on a cold wintery day in Philly when we were having an epic snowstorm and power outage, I headed to KOP for some retail therapy and this scarf came home with me. I think of it as my power outage scarf lol.

You totally rock this format! this looks so elegant on you. I think the turquoise bits keep this scarf from looking too dark. I have yet to try this format as I have one nonH scarf in this format, and I have never worn it!

Yes, I wish they wouldn't pill too, but mostly because they're so expensive. I am convinced, though, that I'm the only one aware of it. At three feet away no one standing near me is going to see any fuzz, not unless we're standing in the grocery store check out line and they're so bored they have nothing better to do than stare at the back of my neck and count the puff balls

I mean, even if your phone's battery has died, there's always the National Enquirer, right??

Well! Yeah I'd put up with pills, pulls, fuzz and zombies in the dark of night for that beauty! And for PbP's Cavaliers d'Etriers. So all CSGM hope is not lost.

PbP - holding information hostage! No fair. Spill the beans missy. Everything. We want to hear all the different cws you saw. You go first. Then I will do a little 140 tutorial on what I know. :ninja:

After a whirlwind of wine, pastry and retail therapy you really expect me to remember color ways?!? It's all a blur. I was so stupid. I didn't want to be a bother so if it didn't look appealing in the bag I didn't have them take it out. But none of them truly looks appealing in the bag. So dumb! If you want to ban me from the forum I completely understand. I'm kicking myself now.

Well...I know I saw a few in Paris at fsh and at the duty free I think. None a George v. None at sevres. I don't remember the colors. I remember that you don't like pink or fuschia and I decided that I agree with you on that so anything in those colors I quickly passed up. I think one was pink. But for some reason something blue and purple with a bit of yellow in it is coming into my mind. I think at fsh. Do you want me to go back and check? I can leave ASAP. [emoji4]

I also think I saw some at the DC store. I emailed the SA there. Let me check. If so, everyone hold your fire. MYH deserves first crack at them for this wonderful thread.

Ohhh beautiful! That's what I'm talking about. PbP: this is your cw too right? I die.

Are we going to see Coupons pictures from yesterday and today TT? Please? It's my last Grail and I must live vicariously since apparently no one will let theirs go. Like ever.
