Scarves MYH's Scarf Showcase - and philosophical ramblings about how I built my collection

Haha. The Appaloosa has won me over too. I realize that some of this is cost savings etc, and I love some of the older designs but I find that the new less detailed scarves sometimes are easier to mix with my wardrobe and not make me look dowdy. For instance I have a paperoles scarf that works with my Chanel jacket but I ended up getting carre en boucles this season too because it looks much more contemporary. As long as the have a mix and a variety I am happy. IMG_1481373283.288673.jpg

There are more 'flatter', less detailed (or should I say fine) designs. Apparat des Plaines a rare recent exception with more that 34 shades on my caramel cw and shading 2die4. I don't mind if a scarf's 2D-ness is part of the charm (like most of Alice Shirley's) I'm guessing that these have proved popular and not just with me, but there seem to be fewer elegant scarf designs in the manner of Passage a Moscou, Pegase d'Hermes and Quintessence from only a few years ago which is such a shame. I'm glad I like a few popular scarves because it seems I'm usually out of step with the majority. I get that H want to entice a 'newer' set into wearing scarves and I do like some of the quirky/graphic/animal print designs but there's a limit, and I preferred those more when they were a bit 'different' rather than the H norm. Still buying the Appaloosa though!

We're definitely in accord here. I was enabled by your Apparat des Plaines and am thrilled that I found the caramel one , what an amazing piece and I think it ties well with a contemporary feel .
I'm also a great admirer of Alice Shirley's designs , and find them easy to style and very uplifting .
Also seeing an Apaloosa in my future , I love the energy ,we may end up with the same one !

I completely understand this, the graphic simple designs will lift a classic piece like your jacket .
But what about putting Paperoles with a cutting edge casual outfit ? It will look more witty / tongue in cheek !

I agree with you on this, and am with with Frou Frou here too

Helllllllllooooo darlings. I'm so sorry I haven't replied to everyone. Please know that I have read all of your responses and appreciate the banter and scarf camaraderie on this thread.:hugs:I just can't always find time to reply to each person and I truly feel bad about it. But I think it's best if I have some time to use that time to feature a new scarf on this thread? I hope I can be forgiven.

So I'm back with another 140 giant silk. I think most of you know I'm partial to this size and material. Although I adore the cashmere shawls, the snags. :panic: They cause me so much mental anguish and the pills! But the 140 giant silks - well, they are just perfection to me. They wear like iron and I still get the huge piece of silk to drape and twist to my hearts content.

So how many of one design can we have before we have an official "problem"? I can't help it. I like the way CSMC ties. And this season, Hermes combined it with Mythique Phoenix and although it looks like the horse has a plume coming out of it's A$$, I still love it. I started off with a black and white one. That one is a pure Cheval Sur Mon Carre and then I got the beautiful blue Cheval Phoenix from this season. Then PbP showed up with the red one and I was a goner. It has raisin, gold, blue, and red in it. That is 4 bags I already have that match with it! But my boutique did not order it. I couldn't even try it on. My boutique is a flagship one and they really cut back on ordering silks this season. I hope this is not a sign of things to come. In my opinion, H silks are in a league of their own and no other brand can hold a candle to them. Sure I like the bags and bracelets/accessories - but it's the silks that take my breath away and keep my obsession with the brand alive. So please H - do keep this product category growing! There are so many of us that love it. Even without a real life trial, thankfully PbP was more than happy to humor me with countless photos of hers with her raisin K, her gold B, etc....She is the worst enabler. People, don't let her send you too many pictures or you will also be a goner like me. She says I have done more damage to her bank account than she has to mine, but at this point, I think we are pretty much even. So I got one "flown in" from the help of an H angel and fell in love with it instantly. Keeper!! And honestly, there are still a few more cws I want to see. I'm not even saying this obsession with Cheval Phoenix is over. I need help. Don't be surprised if I come back to this thread with another cw. :whut:

I'll be the first to confess I'm not always into the hybrid/mashup scarves. But when H does it right, it's fantastic. And this one, to me, fits the bill. The coloring overall is pretty consistent. Sometimes H will make a scarf with bright turquoise in one corner and then dark red in the other and I'm like huh? How am I supposed to pull an outfit together with these crazy colors?!?! But this one is pretty consistent throughout. Raisin, light blue, dark blue, caramel, red. Thank you H! There is even a little purple in it which you can creatively tie to show that part. My little collection of 140 giant silks is growing and I couldn't be happier.

You made my evening MYH when I happily saw a new post on your thread! Your insight, wit and sense of humor are spot on. I love your Cheval Phoenix, and I have to say that this thread has certainly influenced my recent interest in the 140 giant silks. I previously had just 2...Chemin Secrets and Couvertures. Now in the past two months I have added Tigre Royale and most recently a purple Lalbhai! I am still being pulled to Cheval Phoenix in the fuchsia/red CW... and now thanks to this post I may have to order it and give it a try. :graucho:

Just wonderful, @MYH! You and @Pocketbook Pup are both terrible enablers. Ha! I never even considered a 140. Maybe I will 'expand' my budget for Spring 2017 to incorporate one? AHHHH! :panic:

I'm so happy you had an angel fly the right CW over to you. It looks superb on you and I think I've seen it on PdP in another thread (also looks fabulous on her too!). Good to know that the 140s wear well without too much heartache re CSGMs. Thank you, as usual, for sharing such a beautiful find. Love all of your photos, including Mr. Gingy, incorporated among the H bracelets and the Van Cleef necklace!

Ooh - you picked up a tigre royale and lalbhai!! Wonderful. Now you have 4! That is already a great collection. I hope you get to try on the Cheval Phoenix in the red/fuchsia colorway soon. I also tried that one but since I'm not a pink gal, I decided to go for this one instead. The difficulty for me is that I want a whole collection of 140 giant silks that cover all the color categories much like my 90cms. My little greedy heart. :panic:

Hi darling! Thanks for the nice compliments about this scarf. I'm sorry not sorry if I enable you to buy a 140. The only thing about the 140 giant silks is that they are very slippery and so you will need a bit of patience to find ways to tie it so they don't "move" too much. The CSGMs tend to stay put once you fling it on. I can't wait to see what you choose for the spring.

I was scrolling back through this thread and couldn't find photos of the blue Cheval Phoenix modeled. So if you're interested, here they are. This one I found in Vegas! I loved it the minute I saw it folded up in the drawer. I knew it had to be mine.

Sorry again for the humongous photos. I still can't figure out an easy way to post smaller ones. :annoyed:

You rock the mashups MYH! I confess, I'm a bit of a purist when it comes to the silks designs. I actually love both my MP in 90 and pareo and the two CSGM CMSC 140s ( I have the blue and the Corail red). So when the mash up was issued, I passed since I had both designs already. Enjoy, and it looks great with your collection and on you!

Hello sweetie! Please do try this design on. It's a beauty and I think you would rock it! It's so funny...I was just saying to DH the other day. Have you noticed I don't buy little things here and there at the mall/stores anymore? I save all my funds only for H. He agreed. This is how I justify my purchases LOL.

Yes Lanit - I remember you already have lovely CSMCs and MPs. I actually didn't have one single MP so I figured these were justifiable. Thank you for the lovely compliments on my two new giant silks from this season though. :hugs:
