Monistat chafing gel as a face primer?

I tried Jen's suggestion this morning. I mixed a pea-sized amount of Monistat, about the same amount of MAC Select Tint and 4 pumps of MAC Strobe Liquid together on the back of my hand. Then I used my other hand to apply it (was in a hurry, so I didn't break out the 187 this morning). My face looks fantastic, if I do say so myself! Pretty much looks and feels the same as it always does, but in ONE step, instead of THREE!

Thanks for the tip, Jen!

frosty i can't wait to hear what you think!

illinirdhd i'm so glad to hear it worked out well for you! i always use my MAC 187 for liquid foundation application but i haven't had the chance to try it with my mixing technique yet either--it applies so well with my fingers that i haven't really felt the need.

Hi girlz, I just bought that Monistat stuff this weekend and I'm already loving it. I was at Sephora's looking for some primer but I had already tried Smashbox and it dried my face. I must say for under $6, Monistat has me sold. Thanks for the suggestion.

^^^ I used the same amount of everything I usually use. Basically, my mixture was equal amounts of Monistat, Sheer Tint and then a little less Strobe Liquid. It felt a little different going on, but the result was very even and pretty. I put it on with my fingertips instead of my 187.

I tried this and although it looked great (just like Smashbox Photofinish), I started breaking out a few days into using it. I'm going to try it again tomorrow, hoping that it was just a hormonal thing/coincidence because it just looked THAT GOOD! Smooth, perfect skin (until the breakouts, of course!)

ME, too! Please update us since I loved it until I broke out. I still have the bumps under my skin... not really pimples. Ugh!

^^^ I just signed up for your blog emails last week. Love them! I don't always think to check in on your blog, so I like receiving them in my inbox! Great job!

thanks so much for signing up i promise you won't be disappointed! :p

I'm not sure if I used too little or what, because the texture felt weird to me. (too thick) and i wasn't matte. :/ what am i doing wrong?

awww frosty i'm sorry it didn't work for you! it's weird though because when i mix with my foundation/luminizer the texture usually gets less thick as opposed to thicker--maybe it's the type of foundation you're using? hmm i don't know

hmm. i used my mac mineralized satin finish foundation. i don't wear it a lot, so i use it to make tinted moisturizer sometimes. i'm going to try again tomorrow. :) maybe i'll focus on the equal parts. i kind of just squirted in my hand, mixed and slathered on. i didnt use the 187 either. too thick

Are you mixing the Monistat with your foundation? I apply the primer first on my face then apply the foundation on top of that. At least that's how they instructed me at Sephora's. Let me know if I'm doing it wrong please. Thanks.

^^^ You're doing it right - Jen just made a suggestion of mixing it together. It works for her, and works for me too, but Frosty doesn't like it as well mixed together as putting everything on separately.

okay today I tried it again. I let the foundation warm up a little in my fingers then i mixed. the consistency was still thicker than what i'm used to, but i think i just used too much lol. i'm pretty matte, so i like it Jen! It really did save me time in the morning. & I woke up at 6:30 today!! eek >.<
