Monistat chafing gel as a face primer?

I probably have the most acne prone skin on the planet. I have had no problems with this product and it has really improved the finish of my makeup and the time it lasts. My makeup used to slide off my face within 4-5 hours. I can go 10-12 hours now without have a greasy slick on my face.

Mid-day update:

Well it's after 1pm here and I can see a little shine on one cheek but everything else is good to go. I think the shine may be due to application (not putting enough in this area since it's only in one spot). But overall, I don't have a face full of Crisco and make-up sliding everywhere like I normally do.

It's hard to describe but it's like the chaffing gel has given me a "smooth, dreamy," look. LOL I do like how it's worked with my make-up. I had been using Philosophy Supernatural and although it claims "the airbrushed" look, I wasn't seeing it. I had plan to toss it but decided to try the chaffing gel so I kept it to use it together. And I must honestly say - it does make the makeup look 10 TIMES better.

Quick question - has anyone applied this to the eye area? I didn't and I definitely have the usual "concealer settling in under my eye" thing going on so I was thinking about applying a little there to prevent it.

Any thoughts?

I have used the Monistat under my eyes. That's the only area I wear foundation (everywhere else is just a light coat of loose powder), and I haven't had a problem with it.

You know, just keep it away from your eyeballs, of course :p

OK guys, you've convinced me. I'm gonna go and buy this in a couple of days. Anything that will make my face less oily is worth a try! Although I've never used any primers before, this shouldn't hurt given it's so cheap.

It won't hurt your eyes - I use it on my eyelids and under my eyes. I use it all over my face.

I switch back and forth between the Smashbox Photo Finish (the white, oil-free one), the Monistat, Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base and MAC Prep + Prime SPF 50. As you can tell, I NEEDED another primer!

I use the Monistat on days when I think I'll be sweaty. I use the MAC on days when I'll be in the sun. And just randomly use Smashbox and BB.

Smashbox's original Photo Finish is the one with dimethicone. It's the clear one - not the rose, white, lavendar or green one. It's the one you usually get in sample sizes. The consistency of it is the same as the Monistat, but it doesn't dry with the powdery finish, and doesn't prevent oil as well as the Monistat, IMO. Plus it's a LOT more expensive than the Monistat.

Wash your makeup off before bed (I use the Pond's makeup remover towelettes), and you'll be fine - Monistat won't clog your pores if you don't sleep in it.

ohkay just got done reading this whole entire THREAD!

Evening update:

Well it's 7pm and although I'm not matte or bone dry (it probably isn't even from oil but just mist since it's doing that misty rain thing here today and I just got in from outside) I am not oily and TRUST ME - by now, I don't think I would have any makeup left on my face. Overall I'm happy and will definitely try it again tomorrow.

Tomorrow, I will be applying it in the eye area so this will be the test! My shadow does fade and crease so I am interested in seeing what this does for the eye area too.

This is the best $5.89 I've spend in a long time. I say, if you're debating, go ahead and try it! You would spend more on a value meal so forgo lunch and buy this.

I have started using it on my eyelids under my paint pots and my eye make up has lasted much much longer, it has also replaced my UD primer, so it covers two products for me now. My BE face primer and the UD eye primer for like a 1/3 of the cost and I can get it in my local wal-mart not having to wait to travel to the closest Sephora (3 hours) or order online. It is a great product:love:

Y'know, I haven't tried it as an eyeshadow primer, I don't think.

I normally use Mary Kay Eye Primer because I got it for free, but I still get creases in about 5 hours - not enough time, IMHO. I will have to try the monistat on my eyelids!

update: i tested my bare minerals primer first day, and my makeup melted off after 4-5 hours, making my face really greasy looking, especially at t-zone.
next day, i wore monistat chafing gel all over my face, applying it at 6:30am, and did not have to powder til near 6pm-and that was just to powder the tip of my nose.
this stuff REALLLY works. also, i've had a couple skin issues just recently-and monistat did not irritate my skin at all-and didn't add any new blemishes to my skin since i've tried it out. i LOVE this stuff, so happy i stumbled upon this fabulous thread ;)
