Monistat chafing gel as a face primer?

i really have sensitive skin and i've been using monistat gel as my foundation primer for 4 months now and i love it, dont wanna go back to my smashbox and laura mercier primers. :smile1:

OK, I have been using this for the last few days, and although I don't have very oily skin, my t-zone does tend to get a little oily throughout the day. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, or if (since I never used primer before) I am just expecting too much from it, but it doesn't give me anywhere near the long lasting coverage I was expecting, and my nose is oily (same as usual) about 2 hours after applying, if not less. Does this happen to other people or am I just doing something wrong with it?

^hey seven7!! (^_^)

hRRRmmmmm. are you applying enough? and once you've applied, do you let it 'settle' onto your skin for a few minutes before applying your makeup?
i apply mine after sunscreen & moisturizer, and let it 'sit' for about 5 minutes before i do my makeup.

my t-zone is oily too and it works for me, but i did not use enough the first day i applied-so i put on more the next day and saw results.
try this & then update...i'd like to see what happens  good luck with that one.

Oh, thanks for that tip, Natalie! I'll try it and let you know. I've not been letting it sit at all... It would be soo cool if this turned out to work for me after all. Thanks again, :flowers:

Trying not to get my hopes up too high, seeing as I'm wipe-a-napkin-down-the-sides-of-my-face oily, but I'm running across the street right now to pick this stuff up.

Thanks, guys!!!!

yeah i had that happen before. i have finally mastered the right amount for ME. it's a pea sized dot, maybe a little smaller. i use on my nose/around that area and forehead. if i use enough, it will keep me matte. when i use the bathroom at school i always blot with like a tissue or something while i'm in the stall just so i don't feel gross. you know the feeling..you feel oily but you don't look SHINY yet

Well, I think this is definitely worth checking out. I have seen about the problems with breaking out and stuff, thats good to know to watch for any signs of it. It is not expensive so I will be trying it out...I know I have spent way more for products that did not work out as they should.

so i know i posted way back that i tried this and didn't love it, but i've definitely changed my mind! for some reason the first few times i used this it didn't work so great for me--i think at first i was using too little, then i was using too much. but i took this stuff on me while i was on vacation in the bahamas (hello humidity and heat!) and it helps my makeup to stay decently matte and my makeup stayed put really well.

my current favorite way to use this is to squeeze some onto the back of my hand, mix in a little foundation, and also a little lumnizing liquid. this gives me the perfect, easily spreadable foundation!

i'm totally trying this tomorrow! does it keep you matte like when you put the monistat on skin before foundation?

it does just as great a job at keeping me matte as the monistat would do under foundation. i hate any sort of pulling/tugging at skin since i'm deathly afraid of getting wrinkles, and so the slip of the monistat is just great!

I tried this and although it looked great (just like Smashbox Photofinish), I started breaking out a few days into using it. I'm going to try it again tomorrow, hoping that it was just a hormonal thing/coincidence because it just looked THAT GOOD! Smooth, perfect skin (until the breakouts, of course!)
