DH has decided he wants to upgrade my wedding ring ASAP.

Died when I read this sentence...

Did DH "decide" to upgrade your wedding ring ASAP or did you convince him that it is totally the norm like you did with the "push present?" LOLOLOL I LOVE YOU SWANKY! I hope you get a fabulous ring. Not sure if it would go with your engagement ring or even if you wear your engagement ring daily, but I like eternity bands with decent-sized diamonds... though the downside is that they can't be resized.

I have already told my boyfriend about a "push present" tradition and he's like, "I didn't know that was what every husband did when his wife gave birth... I guess it makes sense..."

I have learned many important lessons from you....

That ring is beautiful, but no halo settings for us. DH isn't super picky, but the 2 he really doesn't prefer at all are 3 stone and halos.
The AofP ring is pretty too, but I'm definitely going w/ a round brilliant this time. My current ring is Princess w/ baguettes.
I'm finding the more I look, the more I like antique style settings.
Here's a few I saved, when DH gets home from traveling I'll show these to him, what do you guys think?

Thanks for patronizing me y'all! Please keep the suggestions coming!
of all of these the first is my favourite. it's elaborate and is all diamonds but at the same time still has clean lines which i think sets it apart from a lot of antique settings which i find can be a bit too... 'fussy' i guess, or too elaborate. i also think it would look even better if the stones were set with single prongs and not the double ones it has in the pic.
my second choice is the ring in the 4th pics. also clean lines and because of the thicker band it's a completely different look from the 1st one.
the 5th one is beautiful too.

totally fair question! LOL!
Love you too Annie!:winkiss:
He turned 40 and had an epiphany! SWEAR to gawd. He thoguht he didn't mind turning 40 until the morning of his b-day. he was traveling, as usual, and had some time to reflect.
He called me almost weepy saying "I want the ring baaaaacckkk! As soon as I get home, I'm getting you a better ring. . . I wanna be a better husband, a better Dad. . . . " very sweet and very touching.
Girl it took me a looong time to get him to this point!

DH LOVES the solitaire atop an eternity band! The one we like was about 2.5 carats, they were good size - not too 'chunky' but not at all too light either. I'm pretty sure we'll have the ring made so sizing won't be a problem.

gotta love it!:D

thank you!! I LOVE that 4th one. . . and the 1st, 2nd, etc. . . :shame:
I know what you mean about antique=fussy often. A lot of the antique or vintage styles have too much filigree.

Single stone or something similar, here in the UK we would class a lot of the rings in your pic as single stone with diamond shoulders,as the biggest stone is your 'principle' stone, its kind of classed as a solitaire with details etc. I liked the first one in the top left hand corner.................then again.......................or maybe..................I'm just teasing!!! You will know when you get one of those babies on which makes you go ooooooooooooooo and all misty eyed, and that will be the one!! I did it with mine after endlessly messing about looking at others, one glance, oooooooooooooooooo, and that was it,nothing else came close!! Its such a personal and emotional thing to choose, but damn I had fun while I was at it!!xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
I've put some pics in,although you American ladies are not afraid to wear much more glamorous peices,I'm typically British and A bit too reserved!

I like the 2nd and 3rd:yes:

I like the 4 setting/ring . It is super classy with a some modern flare with the pave diamonds all over. I think that this ring would be timeless yet not something you see on everyones finger.

I am with you, you have to please the DH. My DH upgraded my 3carat to 5 carat last year. He is a fan of three stone rings and I am not. Yet, I found one that I loved. (side stones not quite as big as a traditional 3 stone ring). We all left happy.

When it comes to diamonds, I suggest you let go of your British reserve!:p
I know, its a pain in the backside sometimes!!! But I like what I've got now and don't want to change it(can't afford it more to the point!)I went for fairly classic pieces as we don't have the available readies for me to get sick of something and change it.Plus the fact at 42 I'm becoming a real boring old fart!!!(I just call it 'British Reserve'!!!!!!!) But I do love, love ,love looking at the jewellery you ladies across the pond go for!!!XXXXXX
And I love how you are all not as restrained in your jewellery choices as most of British ladies, your freedom is very lovely to watch!!XXXX

Is it me or does that diamond look like an old cut,the crown facets are very steep, the table looks quite small and it looks as though it has a culet facet, and it does'nt look perfectly round, its not a criticism on any level,I think its beautiful!!!!And if I'm correct its an old cut,it would make a stunning and unique upgrade, its gorgeous!!!
