Swanky you got yourself a good hubby. my DH said he will upgrade on our 10th anniversary...meaning i have to wait 8 more years :shame:'

i actually have my dream ring which is the Tiffany's Lucida but I want a bigger diamond center stone. it's a pretty shape but if you have your heart set for round that it's not going to be work.

i checked out the Tiffany Novo and it's stunning; however, you can get something similiar to it for a much better deal, meaning a bigger diamond. i like the last diamond ring in the picture. it's very antique looking and also very elegant.

please post pics of the ring once you decide on one

^ I am not a sucker for designer diamonds:nogood:
We have a broker that we can buy wholesale from, he sells to the stores, no need to pay for the name for me personally.
We planned on waiting until our 10 yr anniversary as well! But DH is sort of obsessive compulsive and has decided to speed things up.

He was out of town all week and it's the first thing he asked me this morning when waking up.
"Did you find any settings you like this week?"

I told him not really and he suggested we get the diamond and put it on a platinum band until we find the perfect setting.
Would you guys do that?
I'm thinking I might. If we're not simultaneously spending $5k or more on just the setting, perhaps I could get a larger stone:graucho:

Megs, what's your dream ring like?

^ My dream ring :girlsigh:

Humm!!! Trust me I have thought it over. I am more for simple yet elegant. I would love a 2-3 ct brilliant round center stone with a very elegant band. I used to want diamonds on the sides, maybe just pave, but I would go with it being plain now and having my wedding band with diamonds.

Then again, I love both rings below (found on Hearts on fire). Just the settings are stunning!!!

I absolutely would do that!!!! It is staggering how much the bands/settings are! Get your diamond and put it in a platinum band so you can take your time to find THE ring. I almost did that myself and then- bam!- I found my dream ring. I think that kind of happens when the pressure is off. I loved the idea of Chaz's ring in theory- that is looks like such a beautiful traditional wedding set. However at the end of the day, I knew I needed a little more. I also had to get real that I am HARD on my jewelry. That in and of itself put limitations on what I could have and not just what I wanted. I too wanted something more antique. I went with Tacori. I had so many options between engraving and diamonds. I truly wanted the focus to be on my beautiful solitare. On the engagement ring it is all hand engraved with diamonds only in the gallery, none on the band. The wedding band is engraved on the sides and diamonds on top. I loved that I could have all diamonds ( too much for me- too busy!), and engraving, and obviously some of both, I could have had polished bands too, but I needed more. I love that my 2 bands aren't a perfect match. My wedding band only has the diamonds. I love and adore that all of the engraving is done by hand at Tacori- it just so beautiful!
Good luck with your search and I hope you find your dream ring soon. Please let me know if you want pictures of my ring. I'll have my DH take some!

I'll have DH take some tonight. I know you said no halos, but mine kind of does. I hate to call it that. All other halo's I have seen are way too much. I feel they take away from the solitaire and they are just so big and wide around the diamond itself. Mine is almost under the diamond. I want you to see the style anyway, I just adore the engraving!!!!

I'm definitely not a ring girl (only have 2: engagement and wedding) but certain exceptions can be made :graucho:.

I had a chance to put this 23 carat (D-IF! :wtf:) on my finger during a Chopard 'workshop' (read free lunch, LOL) and I definitely want one! Alas, I have to hope that somehow my husband suddenly turns out to be a long lost child of a Russian oligarch .

Hahahahaha!!!! I'd probably get pulled over by the weight of that BOULDER!!!! Still if I could afford that the the MASSIVE bodyguard I would have could help me hold it up!!!!!!

DH had to have a very expensive camera, I am not sure it has made him a better photographer! Sorry the pictures aren't better. I hope you can get an idea of the engraving.

I forgot to say they are soldered together. I had to because of how hard I am on my jewelry. I bend even platinum rings- no clue why?! I would have LOVED to have worn them separately. If you need better photo's I will try tomorrow after my daughter's birthday party. Our little princess is turning 5!
