This is EXACTLY what mine would be. By far my favourite cut is the Asscher cut and yep, I'd want a big, flawless one on a very simple setting.

Task One: Finding someone who WANTS to marry my expensive-taste-having a**. :D

u know what's interesting is that out of the few hundred or so posts on this thread, most "dream" rings are very large carat sizes whereas the e-ring e-poll thread : size versus proportion had over half of the women answer they'd prefer proportion over size.

Dreaming is dreaming but when faced with reality common sense takes over.

When people think of 'dream' engagement rings, they are not thinking about doing household chores, possibly scratching children, riding the subway everyday and other 'real life' things that would make a 6 or 26 carat ring a little hard to deal with.

I have noticed that real people (not movie stars) who have engagement rings over a certain size (about 2-2.5 carats, though for some its less) tend to wear their bands daily instead of their rings and take the rings out for special occasions. There are exceptions to this of course (and probably the jewelry loving folks in this forum count more exceptions than usual) but most people, while they love their 3+ carat ring, seem to find daily wearing a little impractical.

ITA, I only wear the new e ring (3.5 ct the center stone) only for celebrations and evenings out. Instead I just wear my very simple wedding band everyday and it gets a lot of bangs. A big stone is impractical for everyday life. Unless you are a public figure.
