Here are some styles that I think are really pretty.

A large emerald cuts with side bags like this one, but with longer, more slender baguettes.

This is also a great setting for step cut stones.

A nicely shaped cushion w/ side bags is equally as beautiful, I think.

Split shanks like this one are gorgeous and look great with many different cuts of diaomond (round and asscher work best I think) (Daniel K makes a nice one too)

This is a nice way to spice up a simple solitaire. The little diamonds around the setting are so beautiful and add a really nice detail. Tons of designers make this sort of style, Mark Patterson, Daniel K (Rose Bud setting is great) to name two.

Rose Bud setting (from the top, you do not see the side detail so there is no "halo" around the center stone)

I like the first one

I'm glad you enjoyed the photos! I also really like the 'decorated' solitaire. The dimaonds along the prongs are so beautiful and just imagine what the profile would look like! :smile1: So pretty! And you could wear a thin eternity wedding band with it to complete the look.

The second Tacori ring is mine, the one I posted earlier. I opted to do engraving rather than diamonds on the e-ring. On my wedding band, I did diamonds only on the top since I have to have my bands soldered together. I LOVE Tacori and I adore their engraving-so beautiful!!!!! I know Swanky is wanting a 2-3 carat, mine is a little over 1 and a half, most people that ask think it is a 2 carat though. It is g and vs2. It is an ideal cut and sparkles like crazy. I have had an emerald, marquise, pear, radiant, and know a rb. I love the fire and sparkle to the round- yum!!!!! Can you tell I get bored easily?!!!!! It is stressful, but sooo fun to find the one!!!!! I am pretty sure this is it for me- I can invision my daughter wearing it some day- that's how I know!

I absolutely would do that!!!! It is staggering how much the bands/settings are! Get your diamond and put it in a platinum band so you can take your time to find THE ring. I almost did that myself and then- bam!- I found my dream ring. I think that kind of happens when the pressure is off. I loved the idea of Chaz's ring in theory- that is looks like such a beautiful traditional wedding set. However at the end of the day, I knew I needed a little more. I also had to get real that I am HARD on my jewelry. That in and of itself put limitations on what I could have and not just what I wanted. I too wanted something more antique. I went with Tacori. I had so many options between engraving and diamonds. I truly wanted the focus to be on my beautiful solitare. On the engagement ring it is all hand engraved with diamonds only in the gallery, none on the band. The wedding band is engraved on the sides and diamonds on top. I loved that I could have all diamonds ( too much for me- too busy!), and engraving, and obviously some of both, I could have had polished bands too, but I needed more. I love that my 2 bands aren't a perfect match. My wedding band only has the diamonds. I love and adore that all of the engraving is done by hand at Tacori- it just so beautiful!
Good luck with your search and I hope you find your dream ring soon. Please let me know if you want pictures of my ring. I'll have my DH take some!

im really curious i want to see pictures of your ring.. :yahoo:

I love the pave settings, but my dream ring is a 4ct Asscher cut, very simple with ot without side stones. Here are a few I love (the fisrt one's the real DREAM ring):

I also love the Emerald cut, it's so classic and elegant.

okay, here's a few photos of the ring on my hand today. . . . this has taught me that looking at photos is hard, this ring shows SO much more beautifully IRL.
Be afraid of my nails, I've been scooping and carving pumpkins the last 2 days! LOL!

I know I'm a little late seeing this, but the ring in this picture looks perfect on you! good luck!

^ I am not a sucker for designer diamonds:nogood:
We have a broker that we can buy wholesale from, he sells to the stores, no need to pay for the name for me personally.
We planned on waiting until our 10 yr anniversary as well! But DH is sort of obsessive compulsive and has decided to speed things up.

He was out of town all week and it's the first thing he asked me this morning when waking up.
"Did you find any settings you like this week?"

I told him not really and he suggested we get the diamond and put it on a platinum band until we find the perfect setting.
Would you guys do that?
I'm thinking I might. If we're not simultaneously spending $5k or more on just the setting, perhaps I could get a larger stone:graucho:

Megs, what's your dream ring like?
Swanky, I would SOOOOO get the biggest/best color/best clarity diamond you can afford/want to pay for! Put it on a platinum band, and take your time to find the perfect setting.:yes:
