Hi! so I've using my mini MG camello/antico bag since I received it, every weekend (mid march). these past weekends I've been traveling so I wanted to take my MG with me. I don't like to put it in the carry on but today before taking my flight, I noticed some scratches and fine lines around the bag. I don't care much of the scratches but is it ok to use it for traveling? it has the perfect size for my passport, belonging, ipad, etc etc.

I don't really understand your question-are you concerned because of the way it closes?

I just used the Black Rock leather N' Rich to condition my camello/dolly large bucket yesterday, and it looks great. I will post a picture in my next post. I bought it on Amazon, and got it in a few days.

I've had my mini bucket in brandy for about a week now. It's definitely gotten its share of scratches in that short amount of time. They're unavoidable, which I'm fine with. Someone spilled a drop of beer on it at a bar and it even somehow got a small gash in it.

I finally caved and waterproofed and conditioned it.

These were recommended to me in the Chloe forums for my Marcie. It definitely darkened slightly and looks a bit shinier, but still looks awesome. Let's see how it survives its second week...

i'm worried this bag is not useful for traveling or carrying on for long hours.

Worried about what specifically?

It is very lightweight, which makes it great for carrying for a long day. A mini bucket is a great size to hold what you might want for a meal out.

But, it really depends what kind of traveling you are doing and what your needs are. I personally would not want a bucket bag like this for travel. I like to have a bag with pockets when I travel, especially an outside pocket, so I can reach for some money or a map without opening a whole bag with my passport and wallet every time I need to reach for something. I've been using my bucket bag in NYC, where I live, and I am very conscious that it doesn't close tightly, which would make me uncomfortable if I were traveling and walking around another city all day.

Any suggestions for good waterproofing /protecting products to use on the calf specifically? Ideally something that doesn't have to be sprayed since I live in an apartment and don't have outdoor space...

I would look for a waterproofing cream if you are going to do it indoors. You are smart - the spray stuff can be noxious! Since you are in NY, you could also take it to the Leather Spa and have them do it.

I haven't tried any actual waterproofing agents since I live in LA and sadly we are currently rain deficient!

That looks awesome! It's funny there are comments on amazon that say TPF suggested the product. hehe

Does it look like it darkined the leather at all? The only product I've used is Obenauf's and that does darken the leather a tad. If I got a Cammello bag I wouldn't want to change the color at all(even though it says it will eventually)

It's pretty much unavoidable. It happens really fast, in my opinion. But it's not terribly dark. It's just richens (not a word) if that makes sense.
