I have seen a couple of different suggestions like snow proof weatherproofing, colonil weatherproofing spray and cadillac cream to combat scratches.....I have all three so I will let you know which works best. Someone mentioned baby wipes but I am not sure what that method is.

Thanks! Baby wipes? My cammello/rosa mini is coming home today. I will spray tonight and let you know how it went! I am mainly worried about watermarks :(

I have used leather cream and waterstop on my black/flamma bucket and it works really well.
BUT they scratch SO easily so it's definately a bag that you need to baby. And also be carefull with the corners. I have been wearing mine for a good month straight and I can already see some small scuffing starting 😁
But with that said I adore this bag and think that the "used" look is just part of the appeal. But admitted, I hated the first scratch (i accidentally dropped it on the ground AND kicked it. I litteraly yelled at myself 😄)

Guys, I have 5 mansur bags (2 large totes, 2 buckets, 1 baby bucket), all black with a red, marina, or blu interior and the absolute best conditioner hands down is Leather Milk. I will condition them once every other month to keep them a rich brilliant black that actually GLOWS. My process is simple but effective, it's like giving it a mini moisturizing facial, but it WORKS. Leather milk is best because it has natural ingredients that bring out the natural beauty of these italian leathers that the Mansur girls use. Besides the leather milk, I only use products that I would use on my own face to care for this leather. It makes it more durable and less "dry" looking. not just that, I have seen the leather milk actually condition and make scratches TOTALLY DISAPPEAR. So do not waste your money on any other leather conditioner. I think this conditioner also works well with the camello and brandy colors because I've recommended it to friends who own these colors and they ay that it actually has helped protect the bags from staining and splotching.

Even the brand new mansur bags look a little parched but they look gorgeous after I perform this step by step below. If you follow the below I guarantee that it will do WONDERS to your mansur and keep it looking better than new, longer.

1. Take a baby wipe (I like using organic ones that I use on my face, these ones here because they clean without stripping and messing with the pH ) to wipe off any excess dirt or grime from daily use.

2. Spritz rose water. I use this kind because it doesn't have preservatives that might funk up the process http://sbeauty.me/ogJtjk7rG (I also use this same rose water to blend my makeup!).

3. If you order Leather Milk here, it comes with a soft round cushion cloth that's a little spongey in the center. Carefully apply about a tablespoon amount into the center of the cloth and slowly work the conditioner into the exterior of the leather in a round buffing motion. At first it might seem like you have too much, just spread it around the bag and it will sink into the leather, keep doing this until you start to see that quenched glow. Now the cloth will begin to look a bit black, don't worry, it's not stripping your bag of its color, this is just excess dye that's coming off. Your bag is going to look rich and gorgeous once it dries. You might need to use another teaspoon amount to get the rest of the area if you have the large tote size.

-Don't forget to go over the straps if you have the bucket or cross body (-applies to the Lady backpack coming out this summer!!) because these straps will have a tendency to dry and crack before the rest of the bag because you're constantly bending this leather.

4. Clear some space in your closet and let it hang dry on a hanger. If this isn't possible, let it dry on some dry tissue paper or paper towels.

IMPORTANT: If you have a tendency to wear lots of sunscreen or makeup that gets on the bag it's important that you make sure to wipe these off of your mansur with a baby wipe shortly after they happen. I have seen bluish sunscreen sink into the leather and be near impossible to get out of the black bags, especially if they haven't been conditioned as above yet. Just carry around a pack of baby wipes or consider changing up your sunscreen ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

TIP: I love the samorga bag organizers, these will keep your keys and pens from scratching the interior color and keeping the inside looking brand spanking new, much longer than otherwise. I've been in touch with the samorga people about having Mansur tote and bucket interiors custom made, hoping they will regularly produce them for us Mansur fans.

I hope all of this helps! Let me know what you guys think of the above!

I've never treated any of my bags beforep, but my mini comes from PS Dept sometime this week and I would like to treat it before I use it. What do you guys recommend? And where can I find it (I live in the U.S.)?
I've used the Apple Garde conditioner on my calf leather mini bucket and it was fine. I'd stick to the conditioner and not the cleaner, since it's a milder formula and cleans and conditions.

Used Vectra spray on black/flamma bucket. As expected it didn't change any color or texture, just more protection! I will think about applying some leather honey or leather milk. This is black leather so I am not as concerned. I would be careful about my cammello mini bucket though!

so for the Leather milk method, would you do the baby wipes step on a new bag? I've got a Brandy//avion on order and just want to help ensure a nice patina. What does the rosewater do exactly? Why not use plain water? And I'm actually a bit confused about spritzing the bag at all with water? Won't that result in water spots? Thanks for any clarifications!

Hey Sark

So when you get the bag, you'll notice the texture of the leather that, while it's new, is a bit dry, with very tiny imperceptible lines— it might remind you If you've ever looked at your own skin when you haven't had enough water. If you mist it with rose water, it will not result in water marks or stains, because it's a very fine mist (at least the pump on the heritage brand rosewater) it will simply deliver moisture to the leather that you will then work in and lock in with the leather milk. I'm sure tap or filtered water would work but make sure you use a pump that produces a fine enough mist.

But I don't know I'd be afraid of mineral deposits in tap water (hard vs soft water) might do something to the leather. That's why I use rosewater, I figure if it hydrates my skin and is gentle, it will be the same on my bag.

So if you imagine your own skin care routine, you clean, tone, and moisturize, you're essentially doing the same with your bag here. I don't think you would need to use the baby wipes on the bag since yours will be new—use baby wipes to clean the bag if you've been wearing it regularly to wipe off any street grime that collects on the leather over use, or to clean it of anything that you might have had on your hands.

My friends who have the brandy colored bucket and tote report that when they worked in leather milk after lightly spritzing it, the leather glowed a bit, less ashy than it was bfr and more golden brown, so i guess there is a slight color change. But what's good is that their bags didn't "take" future stains as easily as others i've seen.

Hope that helps.

Totally. Very helpful :) jut some follow up questions... Do you spritz the whole bag and then use the leather milk or go back and forth between the two, a little bit at a time (so that the rosewater doesn't dry before you get to the conditioner)? And do you remove the tie from the bucket to condition it in its own? Thanks!

I just spritz it all over once, and then go in with the leather milk. It is kinda milky so you do want to slowly work it in all over and then let it dry for a few hours undisturbed. I didn't have to remove the strap, I guess you could do that to be more thorough!

Worked beautifully, thanks!

I've used this on my bag twice along with apple care leather conditioner. All good for me!
Hi js3805! Just to reconfirm what you said....you used Apple Garde Rain and Stain Repellent on your bag? I have a cammello bucket arriving and I was planning on using the Apple Garde on it before I use the bag. I'm just a little iffy cause AG is a bit "oily" if you know what I mean... And I can't guarantee that I will spray evenly so maybe some spots will be darker. :sweatdrop:

Do you have a before and after photo of your bag? Would appreciate it. TIA!!!

I have the black so I definitely had no issues, I understand what you mean by "oily" but that actually seemed to help my bag. My friend has the mini and she didn't use the AG spray and her bag looks almost dry. I haven't used my camello/dolly bucket yet but I 100% will be using both AG spray guard and conditioning cream.

I've attached pics of my newly scratched bucket (courtesy of a rowdy trip to New Orleans this weekend), its a bit hard to tell on the black.

Thank you for your reply! I actually didn't spray or treat my black bucket in any way. I noticed some scratches after use but I guess I'm just very confident in black. Hahaha. I'm more worried about the cammello... I really hope the AG repellant spray will be good to it! Cross fingers! 😥

Guys, if anyone here has used Apple Garde Rain and Stain on your cammello or brandy bags, kindly chime in if they worked on your bags, if you have photos, even better! 😄 I am just concerned about discoloration and the like. TIA! 😘
