Anyone have suggestions to minimize scratches on the bag? I found a fingernail scratch on the front side of my black/royal blue mini bucket and was wondering if there's a way to make it less visible. I've tried Apple conditioner but it didn't do much. Any recommendations welcome!

Lee is awesome!!!! You're going to love it.

I'm still waiting for the perfect combo for my veg mini bucket!

Also, for those with the calf buckets, are they suitable for foggy and rainy weather or will the leather darken like the veg tan ones?

I don't think the calf ones are as susceptible to change. I wouldn't wear it in heavy rain, but fog should be fine. Regardless, you may want to put some kind of conditioner/protectant on it just to be sure.

Thank you, JetSetGo!

What protectant do you suggest? I have apple guard. Would that work?
Do you recommend conditioning the veg tan ones too even if it will darken the leather? Thanks for info!

I have conditioned all of my veg tanned MGs and it hasn't changed and of them by much at all. Once it dries, it's pretty much back to normal. It's definitely not a drastic change. It does help soften the appearance of any scratches. I've used Apple Conditioner so far. I also have a conditioner I got in Paris at MM7, the official Louboutin cobbler. I haven't tried that one yet, but I'm not nervous about it.

I haven't used an actual protectant yet, since I'm in LA, and it doesn't rain much here. The conditioner provides light protection. But, again, I wouldn't be too nervous. These bags aren't as fragile as one might think.

Thanks for the info! You've reassured me to keep my MG mini calf bucket!!!!! Gonna keep her now esp with the price increase!

Hi everyone! Long time lurker, finally posting on here! I don't know if anyone has mentioned it before, but how is color transfer on the camello? I wear jeans often and I remember reading that the leather conditioner doesn't do too much in terms of preventing scratches and whatnot. So I was wondering how the bag was affected by color transfer even with conditioner.

Also, I received a large black/flamma bag a week or so ago but returned it because it was too big. Anyone know what time the MG launch will be tmrw? I'm so excited for it!! 😁😁

Hey how do you like the calf vs the veg tanned leather? I'm the one who sent a email to the co and yeah I know they are busy, I used to work for a designer and I ran the website so I get it, but I was diligent about customer service. We were a company of 4 so it can be done.....

But, I do wish there were some info online esp since we can't return. Thanks!

I'm sorry you didn't get a reply from them. I imagine the number of emails they get is massive - especially around release time. Still, it would be great if they had the resources to handle the load.

The leathers are quite different, but I like both. The veg-tanned is stiffer and on the raw side. The Brandy and Cammello are subject to greater color change (patina) with wear. The black will remain black. The lux calf is a treated leather and is somewhat softer, though no slouchy. It is dye-coated and should retain its original color well. You can treat any of them with a conditioner or protectant. I hope this helps.

I don't have any of the Saffianos but that I hear is the most resilient if you are hard on your bags. MG recommends not worrying about scuffs and scratches. As the bags age, they actually become less apparent and add a unique personality to each person's bag.

Good idea with this thread :)

I have a question....
As I've mentioned in the other thread I have just received my large bucket in black. The leather on the back however is more rough and feels almost dry. It's very noticable when I run my hands down the bag.... On the front side it's totally smooth and the leather is a bit shiny. On the back it feels a bit more dry and there is a little "resistans"... Almost like very small scails on a fish if that makes any sence. I dont know if the back leather is just more structured or if it's in fact just dry.

Have any of you had this problem and if yes what did you do? I would also like to hear from those of you who haven't experienced it but maybe have some advice :)

I have actually considered returning it but since there is nothing to exchange it for, I would hate to be back on the waiting list :/
And also I dont know if this is just something I will have to accept with this kind of untreaded leather.

Hope some of you can inlighten me, because I do really love this bag

been carrying my black/ballerina regular size bucket non-stop! LOVE IT!! got over the fact that it's untreated leather and got scratched within the first 5 mins lol. also today my 13 month old was "checking out" the bag. needless to say there were about 5 very long, very visible scratches to the FRONT of the bag. had to remind myself it's only a purse lol. i took some applegard leather conditioner and buffed it out which dec the damage to about 50% which i was please with. so just FYI, applegard does wonders for these bags! at least the black ones anyway.

I've been carrying my MG black bucket (regular size, blue interior) and it really is such a fantastic bag. I'm running between places and it's such an easy bag to carry--and it is actually less of a black hole than some of my totes because of the shape. I've got a scarf, gloves, iPad mini, water bottle along with my other daily items and it's still surprisingly light. The scratches do respond well to Apple conditioner but the black seems to show them less overall so I don't worry about it too much. Still looks great after many road trips and all kinds of outings.

It really is a gorgeous bag. And I also find it very lightweight and easy to use. Im still just starting to use it so am still a little carefull where I put it down and try not to bump it too much against doors and stuff.
But good to know that it ages well :)

Was wondering if any of you have tried putting Collonil leather cream on it? Every shoe and bag store I go to swear by this product, but dont know if I dare slapping it on my precious new bag....

hello,
i hope i posted this video properly! http://youtu.be/Mf7cAMzqHKE
Mansur Gavriel Bucket Bag Review - Regular in Camello/Antico; 4 the love of pancakes. and i hope i'm ok to credit this video too.

i found this youtube video today which was very informative. I noticed that the reviewer points out a difference in the two pieces of leather at 1:52 and she talks more about the textures aswell.

I hope your still enjoying your bag. I'm looking at getting the mini bucket and desperately waiting for stock to come in.
