The new store opens tomorrow June 1st, However there is no special opening as apparantly Hermes only do special openings when it is a stand alone boutique not within another store such as Selfridges.

The King Street store closed yesterday and is being refurbished over the next week or so

I swung by late morning and it was dead! Apparantly they had had an initial rush first thing, where a shoulder birkin was available & sold. There were no birkins or kellys on display and none available.

A couple of bolides, havanne croc lindy, white constance and some others were on display. There were lots of accessories in bright colours but quite abit looked like the stock from King Street though I maybe wrong.

Overall the new store looked modern and fresh with a great scarf display and quite afew new belts. It will be interesting to see what other stock comes out over the next few months

Well I had a lovely day off today and went to Manchester in the sunshine : )

The new H in Selfridges is nice, airy and full of colour!!!. They were well stocked with very colourful belts, silver jewellery, scarves and bracelets. First time I have seen a mini medor watch today which was lovely. I recall seeing a green Lindy but dont recall seeing any kellys or birkins.... but tbh, I was looking more at the scarves.

They had a few GMs and some AW09 scarves!! (only a few, locked away in the drawers, I had to ask to see them).

I went past H on King St and it is being refurbished - it is reopening next week.

Anyone else go?

I was also there late morning - there were a few people in there when I was there. Lots of nice jewellery too and a few AW09 scarves available but in the drawers (you have to ask to see them).

I managed to get there for a few minutes, I wasn't going to bother but I needed to get to Manchester to take back a couple of things to Kendals.

It was fun seeing the SAs in a new place - very light and airy and open plan. There are plenty of mirrors around - better than King St for scarf-trying-on.

Nothing new to see particularly - a couple of the a/w shawls - the big elephant (sorry, forgotten the name) in a couple of colourways and a Jypsiere bag in parchment or poussiere perhaps and a SO Kelly in etoupe. There were some belts in biscuit one side and dark brown the other side.

The one thing I noticed and quite liked although it didn't suit me were the special edition commemorative Selfridges/Hermes silk losange scarf - the SAs were wearing them but they were also for sale. It was Selfridge yellow (bright!) with a black contrast hem and in the centre the logo read something along the lines of Selfridges 100 years, London, Hermes etc in a circular shape. The SAs' wore it with black suits and it looked great, just not great on me!

Still hoping for a Manchester meet once the King St store has re-opened...

Yes those yellow losanges were great!!! I didnt even think to ask if they were for sale, I just assumed they were the Selfridges 'uniform' for H!! Now I am annoyed cos I would have loved to try one on... do you know how much they retailed for? Thanks

I knew someone would ask me this! Sorry, Neena, I forgot to ask, I have a feeling this size losange is about £240 but I am likely to be very wrong, plus it might have a 'special' price ie inflated due to special edition etc :D

Was it? I never really looked at the jewellery in King St. I bought a rivale bracelet yesterday and they didnt have any in stock (in the colour I bought) at King St last week when I went in. The mini medor watch was gorgeous... sigh, too many nice things!!

I also thought they were just part of the uniform, otherwise I would have asked about them. The new store is very nice and open plan, I think I put my update on the shopping thread about Manchester.

I found the Selfridges concession open quite by accident this week. The lights are very bright and make all the colourful items pop with colour. The current crop of SAs are there this week whilst the King Street store is being refurbished ( re-opens next Monday afternoon) mentoring the new folks who are being employes in Selfridges permanently. They do seem to have crammed a great deal into a small very open plan space - there is quite a large section of chunky jewellery in a back corner with towels and beach goods like the lindy beachbag in a bright bright orange.

Officially they aren't selling the AW scarves yet ( still got to see the ones I wanted though) but the fresh setting and the bright lights gave all the current crop of scarves a new lease of life.

Nothing very newsworthy on the bags front here as the refurbished store on Kings Street will accomodate the very high value items upstairs but there is a gorgeous little orange Bolide 23 in the window facing Marks and Spencers.

For bag hounds the Selfridges store won't - as a rule - carry Kellys and Birkins - the high end items will remain at King Street but the bags will move upstairs there to allow more space, privacy and security for the whole grand bag buying process.
Selfridges will carry the sorts of items that would introduce a young person to Hermes - canvas bags, vespas, bolides etc. And now Hermes has a presence in direct competition with Gucci, LV and Chanel.
