I didn't know it was even there as you said as it is quite a small shop and I tend to do Harvey Nics, Selfridges and favourite shops on King Street, but managed to miss Hermes until now:smile1:

I am sure I will have loads more questions for them, the more I spot things on this forum, but I will save tha for next time.

I will also try and get an invite to the anniversary thanks for the tip

OMG! Just swung by today and the boards are up for the renovation. It's where Prada accessories used to be and said to open "early June". :yahoo:

I have been told before that it will only be accessories and that the boutique will retain the "high end items". What this means I do not know, but I think it means they will not be doing the RTW at Selfridges (and the concession will not be that large anyway). There was some debate over whether the boutique will retain the "pick of the bags"....

It will sell bags but not Birkins/Kellys, so I am not getting my hopes up. It is going to be aimed at the younger market and therefore will have more of the "pop" colours in both bags and accessories. I doubt it is big enough to sell RTW so I guess this will stay in the main boutique.

Great news  I was there on Wednesday and saw the boards too. They didn't mention it in Hermes on King St that morning!!! I was going to pm you about it. It'll be nice to go somewhere new, even if it's just accessories. I wish the concession had gone to the Trafford centre Selfridges though - I paid nearly £20 to park in the city centre  The concession in London Selfridges has rtw, bags, the lot, maybe this one will sneak stuff in by stealth not to upset King St.

I understand that the staff in Manchester will rotate between the major store in King Street and Selfridges - that was the original plan as described to me by the SAs in King Street - the Selfridges area will definately carry the younger cheaper accessories - bangles, scarves, small leather accessories etc but the high end and RTW stays in King Street which is due to be remodelled with the bags going upstairs. The staff have complained for ages about the lighting in the bag cabinet downstairs currently not showing off the bags to advantage. They will go upstairs to help make shopping for a high end bag a more relaxed experience - as it is now the staff always have to keep one eye on the front door. Hermes KIng Street is going up in the world and Crombie are finally moving in next door.

The Selfridges concession will be managed by King Street and the staff are staying put. They may rotate to start with but when I spoke to them last week they all said they were staying at King Street.

I agree with you allabout nice, I was hoping they would go to the Trafford Centre as it is a pain to park in Manchester as well as the cost. Maybe we could suggest they open at TC as well :amuse:

I am hoping they will carry more range/variety between the two stores as King Street stock is quite limited at times.

Still not long to go until we find out........

Stock at King Street can be quite limited Ms Birkin because we predate there! I couldn't imagine them decamping to the Trafford Centre - wrong demographic profile I'm afraid - I can see them opening in Leeds' charming shopping district first.
One of the joys of city living is public transport - where on earth were you parking to get stiffed like that?

This means that at least part of Hermes in Manchester will be open on a Sunday - no rest for the ever-wicked shopper!

I have already had the conversation with them about opening in Leeds (another of my shopping haunts) but was told that they had already looked at Leeds before Selfridges concession and decided that they could not find the right premises in the right location (Victoria Quarter would be good IMO)

Oh Sunday H shopping, I never thought of that, you are such an enabler Les Tambours. DH will have a heart attack, I spend enough time in there as it is

Yes, I had clocked the sunday shopping  I parked in the only place I know - Deansgate behind Kendalls, I will try the park and ride next time. I'm not very familiar with Manchester really, just King St and H Nicks and Selfridges. I'm glad it's collaborative with King St and not competitive. We seem to have enough members to have a purse forum meeting in Manchester one day, yay!

And hold onto your hats ladies- in discussion yesterday with a lovely SA in Bond Street, they knew all about the new concession. I was told that they will "certainly be getting an allocation" of all the bags. I checked if this meant Birkins and Kellys too, which was confirmed with a subtle nod.

Allaboutnice - that is the only carpark I know as well & can manage to locate! For some reason I always get hopelessly lost driving around Manchester. Shopping wise, I only tend to go in what my DH affectionately calls my shopping triangle Selfridges, Harvey Nicks & King Street.

Poshhoney -Good news about increased allocation of bags

I am sooo looking forward to seeing what new stock they have when it opens, roll on June!

It ALL sounds good doesn't it? Try parking on Dale Street if you don't mind a 5 minute yomp across Piccadilly to the shops - helps build up an appetite for a smashing lunch at Cheophrya as well. I work in Manchester but commute on the train but I do appreciate parking can be a real problem - and I have to think about navigating around even after 12 years or so living hereabouts and exploring Manc's nooks and crannies on foot - it's something to do with the triangular layout of town I'm sure and I still have to think how to get to Deansgate from Oxford Road. No problem locating King Street though.

Can I suggest the cocktails on the top floor bar/restaurant at Urbis if anyone fancies a meet up - as good a view as you will get over Manc, good strong cocktails ( don't drive in for these - you'll never get home) and a bon ton environment. Quite happy to slum it in a Caffe Nero as well to be honest!
