Yes - I called by King St too - they were not open at lunch (or did not look it), but seemed to be fully functional(ish) by 6pm, although I only looked in the window and didn't go inside. They have a new window display (this time a bike covered in seashells), with a lot of scarves curled up in ice cream cones. I wasn't sure whether they were still just sorting out or were in fact open, but the scarf counter was where it always was with the display at the back full of scarves and the bag cabinet seemed the same. It certainly did not seem to be any great "remodel". There were no bags in the ususal cabinet but given the time they have ususally put them away by then anyway - will have a peep tomorrow.
Swung by selfridges too to see what they had. Carol was over from the store but seemed to be checking or moving stock over and left when I arrived. The staff are lovely but very very new and pretty uncertain of prices/ stock/ where things are etc which is only to be expected. Although i was a bit shocked to be told that a GM scarf was £800 until it was checked when i asked if they were sure!!
Re bags i had a nice chat and they said that they will certainly be getting more and that they will be getting birkins and kellys which will go out when they get them. They were firm that there will be no list or system - they will just go on the shelf. I actually didn't ask for Birks and Kellys - it was a passing remark about getting more choice in re colours, but clearly they had been asked before and told me this off the bat.
There was also a lot of stock in the drawers and A/W GM wise they had peuple de vent in 3 colours and beloved india in the mainly ivory with pale lilac colourway (ok I clearly have scarf homework to do!). I didn't get around to 90cm I'm afraid but will have another peep this week.
Ok sorry - in my overexcitement this has turned into an essay.
Ms Birkin - I think you should certainly swing by for a look if you can. I will do a better report when i have more news.
And to enyone else who fancies a look and maybe a cuppa, just give me a shout.
