What’s the difference between “reserving” and being put on my SA’s wishlist for certain items? Is it just how different boutiques do things?

For example, I’ve apparently been reserved a non-popular non-qb at a non-local boutique I visited while on the road, and my local SA was able to see the reservation (she was not happy about it…, but what can I do; I certainly wasn’t going to turn down an offer, even one in the future)

But in so many boutiques, don’t they just keep saying that they have no idea what stock is coming next? How was that store I visited able (and willing) to reserve that bag for me months in advance of its arrival?

Thanks for any insights!
They know what stock will be coming, they just don’t know when.
If you peek into your SA’s phone when she is looking up something for u, u should be able to see on that product page a small truck with a number beside it. The number means the quantity that is “on the way”. If it is 0, it means none of that item is coming.

I don’t know what you mean by “SAs wishlist”. On your profile on their iPads, they can put “an order” in for you for a particular item, say gold Orans in size 38. They pull up the gold Orans page under your profile, can see which stores currently have stock and how many more your particular store is expecting eventually and who else from your store has them ”on order”. Your SA can add you to the list and then as the item arrives, the name of anyone who has that item “on order” pop up on the computer screen and a back room worker can choose to print out a hold label with that clients name on it.

SAs say they don’t know because a) they want to hold stock for their other clients and it’s an easy fib, b) just because something is “on order” doesn’t absolutely guarantee you’ll eventually get it (I’ve had a few items fall through personally, mostly RTW and shoes) c) some items still have to be approved by higher management, especially bags, d) some items, especially bags, they actually cannot see and/or reserve and e) some SAs are more low effort/less accustomed to this relatively new system they are using.

My gold 25B sellier was a specific reserve; my SA told me as soon as he saw it coming, he put my name on it. I assume to do so, my SA would have needed the approval of the SM and also be reasonably sure that i would accept. It’s my understanding that a wishlist item is more hypothetical. (I don’t have a wishlist, but I trust my SAs taste, and he knows what I have already). This is simply my interpretation of what I’ve been told. If another TPFer has more concrete info, I am sure they will correct

IMO, with respect to your reserve in another boutique, I personally wouldn’t do it. My relationship with my SA is more important than any one bag, so I course the vast majority of my spend, +5X, excluding leather, to my local boutique. If you don’t, your local boutique will have no incentive to advocate for you in the future. Some TPFers split their time between several homes, and they have enough spend or long standing relationships/ purchase history to support several boutiques. I do not.

@gracecska, IDK, perhaps you could tell your SA that you have always wanted a bag in that seasonal color, and if she could discuss with her SM whether it would be possible to request for next year via another SO or other means.

Hi everyone,
Not sure if this is the right place for this question....
Is it correct that pre spend resets every calendar year?

I'm a newbie H customer this year and my spend is not high enough yet to reach a 1:1 for a QB and I'm afraid I might not reach it at the end of the year. Does this mean I have to start all over again next year in the hope of being offered a bag? FYI I always shop at the same boutique with the same SA

I'm in no rush to get a BK but I am worried that my strategy to building my spend history slowly ( because of budget) might not work.

No, pre-spend does not reset at the end of every year. Depending on what country you’re in it may reset after you get a QB

Thanks a lot for this! Yea, I’ve wondered why I could be placed as an “order” for my evie at one store (with potentially months of delay) while other stores including my own local SA always say “we never know what comes in”. It would seem that if they always knew, it’d make it easier to say yes/no to clients

Could also be store policy that they don’t allow the SAs to put “orders” in for leather goods. I know my store does not allow it for bags or coveted items like rodeos.

Pre-spend doesn't reset at the end of every year in most countries. Quota resets every year though. I'm unsure what country you're in but most people seem to spending much more than 1:1 for a QB these days (especially in sought after specs).

Also, I think in the QB offers they'll look at the overall profile. If you space out your 1:1 spend over the course of two years, the overall profile is not very impressive.

Hi everyone, new to my H journey : I’m wondering is it easier to clinch my first 1st k/b in neutral color vs brighter / seasonal colors in the US ? I’d love to hear your experience and wisdom
It seems pretty hard regardless due to low inventory and buyers' willingness to spend an incredibly high ratio, but neutral colors tend to be more popular so probably more difficult to score than bright/seasonal colors. That said, certain colors aren't considered classically neutral but are still extremely high in demand (rose sakura comes to mind) and could be even more difficult to snatch than neutral.

Everything is hard to get right now; you may have more luck if you’re open to larger sizes which are less popular now. But my SA always jokes that she never even gets to see bags anymore because the minute they’re offered the clients are like “wrap it up, I’ll take it!”

Hahaha I bet. The supply shortage is unreal and I’m so grateful that I genuinely love everything I’ve been able to get at H.

Was your first qb (k/b) a surprise , offered to you on a random appointment? Or did the SA hint at a surprise was waiting?

Rose Sakura is very HTF for sure. I just told my SA I’m open to any color except lime green lol but we both agreed that it’s gotta have ghw since all my jewelry is gold or rg.
