While those stores do have the highest sales, I have always felt that they get the most inventory compared to smaller cities. So I don't really feel like the ratio for QB has been that bad, unless you're after a very specific spec.
Just wanted to add to this having been to these areas and many of the stores. its true there is more stock but mainly at the largest of the stores in these cities. unless you really click w the SA, in general, for a completely new customer, it may not be a good idea to start at one of these satellite stores in the current stock situation.

Bigger store = more competitive IMO

So what I thought was at the smaller stores in the bigger city, you have the same number of people or at least the same level of spending ability of the bigger store/a wealthy, large city, but with the low stock of a small store in a small city, same people competing for this limited stock.
I did think at the beginning of my journey the same that a large store would be more competition, and chose to start at a small store but based on my personal experience and those shopping at similar satellite stores in large cities this is my take.

A store‘s inventory is completely determined by their previous sales numbers. Large store, small store, etc doesn’t matter. It all boils down to the same thing, either a lot of clients vying for a lot of stock, or fewer clients vying for less stock.

In that case I feel bad for the smaller store, how can they keep up with increased demand if previously they started out with lower sales? They wouldn't be able to keep up and still have low sales due to low stock. Just my personal observations it seemed disproportionate, the number of shoppers and the stock at the satellite store. There is also less physical space.

Don’t worry for them. Smaller stores compensated by having better service as there is less foot traffic. Smaller space means they ask customers to order stuff that takes months and years to come.

With so much info going around, smaller stores get busier once people hear good things and then it all evens out.

The most important is how well a customer hit off with the SA. No matter big or small the store is. Good stuff will come the customer’s way. But in Asia, the profile needs to be pretty in the SM’s sight. So, if there is a good relationship, the SA will help to make it pretty.

Hi! Was wondering if anyone with a similar situation/history could provide some personal insight. I am about 1 year into my Hermes journey but didn't really make headway until January of this year. I do not live in a state that has an Hermes so prior to this year, I had purchased just a few random items while traveling to Vegas. Fast forward to January, I went on vacation in Hawaii and just really loved the boutique and the SA that I got. I made some big purchases and before leaving was offered and accepted a B30. Still can't believe my luck and at that time I thought I would just be happy with my one bag as is but of course...as we all know that's just the beginning.

Since then I have made a few purchases with the same SA and kept in light touch when appropriate. I do plan on making more purchases throughout the year and trying my best to maintain as authentic a relationship as possible that's mutually beneficial for both of us. Currently I do not have any concrete plans to return to Hawaii this year. I had never been to Hawaii before that trip but am now considering taking my family for an annual trip, especially if it can satisfy my H quench. But I definitely don't plan on going for a trip more than once a year. We love to travel to new places and I don't see myself making multiple trips annually.

I am, however, not opposed to taking a trip with the sole purpose of securing a quota bag. Like I would be ok with flying in for the weekend at the drop of a hat and flying back home. But I don't know how that would work. Would I need to be offered the bag by the SA first and then fly out to pay for it and pick it up or do I just have to go ahead and book a trip and emphasize to the SA that I am coming and would really appreciate it if they try to secure me a quota bag that week? I also have friends that live closer and wouldn't be opposed to picking the bag up for me (would I be able to pay for it via credit card remotely in that case).

Has this sort of relationship ever actually worked out for anyone and how did the logistics play out?

Because I do not have a local store and I have already had such good luck and now a relationship with an SA, I really want this to be my "home store" but admittedly it is halfway across the country from me.

Thanks for reading!
I would probably let my SA know a few weeks ahead of time that you were coming and ask if they have any certain items you would like to purchase. Also give them your updated wish list!
