Only once did you I exchange an item (it was a blanket that I didn’t realize I already have; same color and everything). I bought it from my home store but exchanged it in another (closer to me). Then when my regular SA from my home store was offering me a hard to get item (KTG), she saw my profile and asked me why I exchanged the item. She warned me not to do it too often cos it would look bad in my profile, if she were to offer me a quota bag next time and needed the SM’s approval. She wasn’t mean about it and she understood why I did it, but we’ve had this relationship wherein she’s quite honest with me about the why’s and how’s of their store. Mind you I’ve never returned/exchanged anything before in the 6-7 years I’ve been her client. And I don’t believe it’s because I did it with another store; she knows I buy from H stores in 2 other states sometimes.
I’ve returned a couple of things. One was a scarf that looked horrendous on me once I got it home. The other was a watch band that I gifted to my husband for his Apple Watch. He ended up selling his watch and didn’t need the band so I returned it. Both led to a credit that I used for other things. Sometime returns/exchanges are inevitable so long as it isn’t too often and done sparingly. But good to know, they are watching this though.

How soon do you all add/update your wishlist after your items have been fulfilled? I want to space out my spending so I don't know if I should let my SA know what non-bag items I'd like to add right away..or let her know 1-2 items at a time.

when I inquire about an item, i have the intention to buy it right away. Maybe it is covid or I am shopping at a store with smaller volume, 8 out of 10 times they are on order or on my wish list.

for quota bag, I let my SA takes the lead unless I have a change of heart. for example, my SA asked about my next bag when i picked up last time.

i am in no rush for things unless I needed an item for specific reason, like a trip or gift.

It depends on your store. Most of the time I just pop in. As I have a list of 2-3 items that I’m interested in buying, I will buy what’s available at the moment. If I’m looking for something specific, I will send a note with the item and tell her when I’ll come by. If they don’t have the item, I’ll come by at another time. Most of what I buy are small - scarves, SLG’s, bracelets etc. I am looking for shoes so in that instance, I’ll ask for a specific size before I pop in. I don’t normally ask for quota items but if she asks, I will tell her.

Let your wallet and finances guide you.
Exactly!!!! I wish I could get everything now hahaha but my finances dictate my rhythm. If finances are not in question, I think you follow your gut. Every month, every week, etc. Although SAs already know that people are spending to be offered a bag. I told my SA that I am in no hurry and I will enjoy the journey. Let’s see what happens :-$

Interesting about exchanges... I've been shopping with Hermes for only about a year or so and not have heard issues about exchanges or keeping track of such. Unsure why it would be an issue especially you're within the time period and the product has not been used.
It may differ from store to store, and I don’t have any other experience with returning except for that one time. I realized my mistake just less than a week after I bought it and I didn’t use the blanket at all. I’m just sharing what my SA told me, and hopefully they’ll forget about it when the time comes I’m up for a quota bag, lol.

I update once a year. But I don’t think there is a hard or fast rule. I usually update in conversation when my SA asks me.

That's a really good question and something I struggle with.

I've had times when I've waited months before updating my wishlist and then had to wait a few more months for my items to arrive (knowing that they'd have arrived sooner had I asked sooner).

Learning from those experiences I tried updating my wishlist right away and "unfortunately" a high ticket (but very desirable) item arrived right away and I "had" to buy it even though my bank account hadn't recovered from previous purchases yet.

H is like a box of chocolates 'cause you never know what you're gonna get :-)

Does anybody have any advice in spotting a good SA?

And does picotins count as pre-spend?

trying to score a quota bag in a travel location (Hawaii!)

Honestly I think different SAs are for different people - some prefer direct SAs some prefer non-pushy SAs etc. and even when you get recommended an SA you may find them not work well with you, despite the person who recommended them obviously being a fan. My advice is just go in and see if you like the one you are paired with - whether they seem friendly, patient and willing to work with you. If you get a bad experience always possible to try again another day (and in Hawaii you have two stores to try to begin with). Best of luck!

In terms of Picotin - generally speaking yes it will count in some way. However it is kind of a popular / in demand bag itself (depending on size color etc.), so no guarantee you can get exactly what you want if you are very specific (will depend on some luck and timing). Hawaii though should be one of the better stocked locations so I hope you find what you want!

Honestly I think a "good" SA is the one you like talking with that gets a good vibe for what you like and won't like. I think its good to approach it with the mindset that you may have to try a few times until you find someone you genuinely look forward to seeing

Need some advice here ...... my SA has recently started hinting to me to "look at" RTW. Last month when I was in the store, she walked me through the RTW department and mentioned how she could imagine me in one of the pieces. Then earlier this week she sent me a picture of a cashmere coat noting that made her thought of me.

Question - do you think I need to venture into RTW now (I have only been buying bags, SLGs, scarves/belts/fashion jeweleries, shoes, bag charms, and an H watch & a Farandole silver long necklace)? She has been great and we have a very good relationship - I've been with her for 2 years now and so far I've got 6 quota bags, 3 KPs, constance 18, kelly danse, mini lindy, and even a special order just last month. I'm worried that if I don't "diversify" my purchases into other departments, I won't have such great offers anymore. I'm thinking of maybe not getting the cashmere coat she suggested (as it is ~$5,000 and I don't really wear cashmere coats) but maybe a tee + a sweater to satisfy the "purchase diversification" request. What do you all think?

Honestly, just buy what you love. You guys have a great relationship. If you don’t show interest in RTW, she should not and would not push them on you. Continue buying what you like. It seems like you have been offered many items within 2 years that people waited for much longer for.
My SA kept pushing fine jewelry. I said I have no interest in adding anymore pieces because I am out of wrist space to add anything. I am wearing 2 Cartier love, and a tennis bracelet already. I have no room to add a Kelly bracelet lol. Just be straight forward and don’t hesitate to say no.
