Yes, be polite. But then that's etiquette for everything.
Thank you! Of course politeness goes without saying, and in every aspects in life. My question was more to ask if some SAs (especially leather) didn't give out their contact details if you don't have a big spending history with them, in order to avoid people constantly emailing/texting them? But it sounds like it's not the case

It shouldn't. But you might find it easier to ask after you make a purchase. Doesn't have to be big purchase. They may not reply to everyone who email them and in my country we can't text SAs.

“Thank you so much for helping me with X item! I’d love to reach out to you again the next time I’m looking for something. Any chance I could get your card so I don’t forget?”

Sorry more newbie questions -

Do you have to build a relationship with leather SA specifically to eventually get B/K? I mean, I'm starting out at Hermes and I am currently interested in buying mostly silks. So would my silk SA not be able to eventually sell me other items I am interested in? Also like if you are starting out buying other items, how would you go about building a relationship with leather SA specifically?

You don’t need a relationship with a “leather specialist” specifically. Except in rare cases (FSH and the Men’s store in NYC?, from what I read) all SAs will have the ability to offer quota bags to established clients. I think most SAs have some variation of “Sales Specialist” as their title on their business cards. Work with whomever you’re most comfortable with and consolidate all purchases through them and you should eventually fulfill your wishlist.

Thank you :-) Phew! That's good to hear.

I love my SA. My local boutique is fairly small. I will be traveling this spring to several larger cities with what I believe are stores with greater inventory.

I focus my collecting on scarves. Between my SA and the forum, I feel like I can adequately gauge what is out there. (She brings scarves in for me and hold them aside if she thinks I will be particularly interested.)

Is there any point to going to another store to check it out? I am not a casual shopper, and I don't want to waste another SA's time (if they would even have time to show me something without an appointment). I also have a lot of allegiance to my SA.

Do you visit other shops when you travel. If so, why?

I always try to visit other locations if I can, and I travel quite a bit. I walk right in when it suits me (which is usually between meetings). Every SM has different tastes / orders for local clientele and even the best SA can struggle at time to secure a scarf from another store / region / etc. So it's a lovely treasure hunt..not to mention some things you need to see in person and it changes your idea completely.

My SA(s) don't mind one bit, despite me funneling all large purchases through them. In fact they tell me for the reason I just stated, that if I find something I want in another boutique not to hesitate.

I'm not sure SAs see it as a waste of time to show items to clients who are real fans of the brand - whether they purchase on the spot or not. I think l they know time well spent translates into a sale at some point.

Why not have a look?

I appreciate why you like like shopping in your favourite small boutique and it appears that you are well looked after.
I also understand why you don't like taking up an SAs time if you have any intention of buying.
Hermes is not the kind of business where every outlet will have every style in every colour way.
So it is not unreasonable for you to wish to be shown anything in any store if it is available.
From what you have written you don't seem to be the kind of shopper who likes to ask to see a wide range of items,
take up a lot of time, then leave with nothing.
The Hermes.com website is a very good guide to what can be available, especially if you change the continent locations. You could do some basic research there.
You just have to say, 'I wonder if you have X in Y colour way?'
With Hermes, it is often sensible to buy what you like when you see it.

I do. Specifically for scarves at this point. I may know what's out there and my SA may have an idea so I'll buy those from her, but I'm not going to be able to tell which designs/color ways catch my eye unless I see them in person, so the more I see, the better idea I have.

Hi everyone.
I dropped by my local boutique today to casually browse. I didn't have an appointment so was not going in with any expectations & my SA was out on holiday. Another SA offered to assist me in his absence and made a couple of comments of "not a problem, I can ring this up in your SA name." and "not to worry, we all help each other while we are out."
I picked up a pair of shoes, and then put a few items back for my husband to come back for upcoming anniversary.
The SA mentioned multiple times she would ring it up and put it in my SA name.
I get home and the receipt is in her name, not my SA.
I am SO mortified, probably to the point of overthinking as I LOVE working with my SA, we have a good relationship & I do not want him to think I was trying to go around him or wanted to work with someone else.
What would you do in this situation? I honestly do not want the shoes if my SA does not get the proper credit. My gut is to email my SA and explain the situation (and also to make sure she actually set back the items I discussed too) and let them deal w/ internally? But I also don't want to be on a "bad" list at the boutique :S

I think I would reach out to the SA who helped you as I am thinking it was an oversight on her part & ask her
to make it right. I would do it today & not let it lag, JMO

Make sure you look at receipt and your SA’s name is under the item name. Cashier name on top of receipt, but double check and look for your SA name in fine print under item.
