Is it not mandatory to purchase items prior to having them transferred? I was assigned to a new SA this year and if an item needs to be transferred in he has required me to purchase them prior to transferring it. This is for everything from twillies to fine jewelry.
No, it is not. I have items (fine jewelry and Kelly Wallet) transferred without purchasing them first. For the ones that I can buy without seeing them, I simply charge send.

Are the items available on the H website? If so I would casually mention how you are so bummed that it's taking so long to get them in because you were ever so hoping to have them for you trip on date X and maybe I should just order them from H . com so that I'll have them in time...? *innocent look here*

The two items I wanted most are not available on the European H site so unfortunately I can't order online or pretend to order online (too bad)...I wonder if the item is available online if we can ask our SA to order on our behalf so they still get the credit for the sale in Europe?

You should have bought what you saw in Paris.
It would have been quite justifiable as your SA had not been able to supply them in your home store, even if for reasons beyond her control. As such she should have understood.
I agree that we want to have a pleasant association with the people who provide us with services, but you should remember that your SA is providing you with a service and you are giving her your valued custom.
I suggest you contact her quickly and explain that you want these items for your holiday and ask if she can get them asap.

Thanks again dear! I contacted her earlier today and she told me she handed the list of my requested items over to the person that’s here to support yesterday so hopefully they will show up soon! I also told her that I want them with me when I go on holiday so fingers crossed they will come in in time.

I have accumulated quite some wishlist (fine jewelry, SLG, 3 pairs of shoes and a CSGM) over the past few months so I’ll be so broke if they do show up all at once

For my store they are not allowed to charge send, so the only way for me to pick them up is to drive 3 hours each way and visit the store. So I tend to accumulate a few items before I go and pay for them.

My SA told me if the transferred item does not suit me I don’t need to buy it. But I do try to do a lot of research beforehand so she doesn’t end up with stock that she can’t sell (often I request items that are not in stock in my local store).

Not at all. I've had a lot of things transferred from another store. The story always goes: i go in and ask for something specific. the store doesn't have it in my size / color / other specs. the SA goes on her ipad and does a nationwide search. the SA finds something and tells me after I leave, she will place a call to the store that has the item and request a transfer. While it's never confirmed on the spot, I have not had the experience where the transfer didn't go through. I would then go in (likely a couple of weeks later) to check the item out, make sure it's the one I want, and then buy it (or not). I've had situations where the transferred items were not what I'm looking for, and the SA did not push me to buy them.

My boutique is not near where I live, so I do the same as meowlett, and pretty much have everything charge send. For fine jewelry and shoes, I need to try those on, so my SA holds them, or transfers them in and holds them, until I am able to get to the boutique. Generally I am there ever couple of months. I have to admit that with only one exception, I've purchased everything that has been held for me.

So good to know your experience. It seems the problem is with my boutique and not with Hermes policy. I never even questioned it in the past, so it is very helpful to hear the truth from you and others in this forum.

I think it’s case by case. I needed to pay in advance for some of the items but later for others.
