Congratulations on your new Jumbo! I love the Jumbo's, they are so classic and classy

Chanel probably moved over some of the manufacturing of the flaps to Italy, like they do with so many of their bags.

Did you get silver or gold hardware? Any modeling pics coming up? :graucho:

I'm only talking about the classic flap. ONLY. Classic flap meaning large, jumbo, etc. I don't mind the Italy.. but for the classic flap, it must be France. I'm not trying to put down Italy AT ALL, I'm just saying that I'm gonna spend the money for a CLASSIC FLAP, it better be made in France.

Since the OP got a jumbo classic flap made in Italy, i don't feel like it's the same.

Katie I meant exactly the same too! I just wonder why would Chanel have some of their classic bags ,made in Italy from now on?:confused1:

the caviar leather on my bag is reasonably soft which is nice as it doesn't look too boxy. but i find the jumbos to be of a curvier shape than the smaller flaps anyway.

Hi 1999 and Congrats on your new bag:smile1:!Is the shape the same with the old jumbo? Will you post some pics please?I'd very much like to see the new jumbo !TIA!

chanelspell, classic flap made in italy is new to me. I want to check out alignment of these italy made flaps. If they are good at this then I say Chanel is repairing alignment problem seen on new bags and that is good news. We can spot fake bag easily :smile1:

Okay i don't know what the big deal is with classic flaps being made in italy? i have always thought that chanel makes stuff from both france and italy, so if it's made from italy wouldn't that mean its truly authentic and the quality should be the same? Unless i am missing something here. Were classic flaps only made in france before?

oh and adding to this...i have chanel stuff made from both countries, do i have to worry about italy made bags now?

Retroflashes I have a white Madison "made in Italy"Lambskin, purchased in May and used only for 6-7 times, never overloaded and always with extra care ..I paid 1490 Euros almost the price of a med\large "made in France" lambskin ...and let me say that the quality of the inside lining for ex. is inferior to that of my med/large lamb..Also it doesn't hold so well as the classic one. of course they're different styles but when Chanel charges almost the same price for both I would expect the same quality too!:hrmm:

retroflashes, we are talking about classic flaps specifically. We are not talking about Chanel bags in general. I've looked at a lot of classic flaps and reissues. I've never seen one that made in Italy. So, I believe classic flaps only made in France. But thing changed now.

I've seen a lot of gorgeous authentic Chanel bags made in Italy as well as made in France. If you see a Chanel made in Paris, then that bag is fake for sure.

i find that the jumbo's are alot softer and aren't as structured - but perhaps this is because of the style...? the quilted parts aren't as 'puffy' as the other flaps.. not sure what else?

My local Chanel stores don't have jumbo made in italy yet. But I saw jumbo and medium and EW with MM lock in treated lambskin. The quilt is not as puffy as the old lambskin.

I compare the old lambskin SN 12xxxxxx with new lambskin SN 15xxxxxx, the old one is more puffy and more gold in hw. It seems like Chanel reduces amount of gold from 22K to 18K and now it looks more like 14K.

Katie, unfortunately this doesn't stop here:here's a thread about the quantity of metal in the silver hw as well as the quality of the leather on the new jumbo(took me some time searching and there was another thread in which a fellow fer had taken shots of both the new and old jumbo for us to compare the H/W-didn't find the latter yet!).

Moreover I find the leather interwoven chain on some of the "act 1 Fall 2007" bags disanalogous in proportion to the bag's volume !I would expect heavier/bigger chains(someone has mentioned that too -I'm pretty sure) on such gorgeous bags!
Please gals don't shoot me on that ,it's just MHO or my eyesight!
just out of curiosity is the new jumbo made in France or Italy?I have no clue yet!
