I thought Chanel and Hermes are named in the book as two companies not making bags in China but in France & Italy as always?

Hi Regina I have not had the chance to read the book so far but according to the extract Layla posted, and I'm citing above § 4 ,I take it that they do fall in the list of brands making goods in China!
Please let us know farther,I am really very confused now ! :confused1:TIA!:smile1:

Did you check if the front is aligned with the sides. Part of quilt diamond is on the front bag and part of it on the side. The quilt line should be aligned right at the seam where the front/back of the bag and the sides meet.

Is it possible to find a bag that perfect? i never match the stitching from the side but only the front and the pocket at the back.

i just checked my medium adn jumbo and both does not match perfectly on the sides.

I expect alignment should look like shown in picture of jumbo made in France and not that terrible as in picture of jumbo made in Italy. BTW, we are talking only Jumbo here :smile1:

Hello
Ok i know that all classics are made in france. so i find this a little unussual. chanel does make bags in italy as well. The bag from italy are ussually bags with not as much structure. I was told italy specialized in those type of bags. I was also told bags with structure such as the classic france specialize in.

Actually GST is very structured and it's made in Italy. They do very good job on GST. I must agree the French are experts in making classic flaps. They've been doing this for 50 years. But I think eventually the Italian will catch up and become experts as well. They are truly artisans

Just to confirm that my new season black caviar jumbo with silver hardware is Made in France. I love the caviar on my jumbo and think that you should only buy/keep your Chanel if you love the quality and workmanship of the bag regardless of it's seasonality! If any defects crop up on the bag always keep the receipt and I would have no qualms about taking it to Chanel to get it fixed. All handmade bags have their own quirks and kinks (like the alignment issue) surely this adds to the individuality of your Chanel.

I think perfect handmade quilt alignment has been Chanel major symbol for many years. It's an art. It shows high quality craftmanship. Any shifting from that is a shifting off original Chanel.

The fake ones are getting to that perfection but not there yet.
