I still don't know why everyone's saying that the quilting of the Made in Italy bags are so puffy and the leather is nice. I have a chanel gst that is made in italy and some of the quilts on half below of the bag are not as puffy as the half above..and the leathers used on the handles are different. The pebbled grains on the left side are so rough while the handle on the right is flat and quite smooth. I saw 4-5 caviar grains peeling and the caviar leather when sitted next to the lamb leather of the made in france bag looks so dull and matte. I think I am on the minority and is really looking for good made in france chanel bags.

This is a long shot but would anyone know where Chanel's manufacturing plants are in Italy? I sent a leather Boy Bag from Australia to USA on Thu via DHL with full value declared for insurance. The receiving end in USA just contacted me saying the USA DHL called her to say that USA Customs require the detail of where the bag is made (Italy in my case) and they NEED the address of the manufacturing plant. I called & spoke to a Manager of Chanel Boutique, called Customer Service Hotline, I Googled from 10 am to 7 pm today with no luck.

Can someone help out? And it sounds so ridiculous for Customs to ask such information but USA DHL insisted thats what they need for the bag will be returned. They even asked the type of leather (goatskin in my case) which is fine but they also asked whether the animal is farm fed or wild!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so stressed out now and upset at the same time.

Not sure how true this is but Dacob on Youtube said that the factory in France only makes Chanel bags and they are more skillful, whereas the factory in Italy produces products for other brands and they’re not as skillful.

Thank you so much! I have one that is made in France, and just buying another, but it’s made in Italy. Debating if I should return it and wait for the made in France.

I think you should just keep the bag if the bag is ok ( nice stitched and shiny, not dull leather) .

Because MIF and MII each of them can have a flaw.
I have returned a classic caviar bag made in Italy because the inner flap was crooked ( the edge stitching was less nice on one side, but this is a minor flaw then the crooked flap) although the leather was shiny and not dull.
The second classic caviar flap i returned was made in France, but the corner quilt was dented and the leather was less shiny than the made in France bag.
I was so stress every time to go back to the store to return the bag, because according to the SA if was not a defect or flaw.
So if your bag is nice, i would say keep it.

this is what I heard from my friend as well, she want her jumbo to be made in France so bad.
so I compared mine (made in France),and hers (made in Italy), the quilting on mine seems more puffier...
we both have classic flap in black caver with GHW, mine (m/L),her(jumbo)
But I think is more depend on the bag itself, than where is made from.
