I don't know if I am officially a VIC, but I do get the invites to the previews. I also got a brown WC speedy w/out actually being on a waitlist. A SA I buy from at Neimans called me, said they got one in, and asked if I wanted it. I also got my Tivoli GM from her w/out waitlisting. But then again I didn't know about VIC rooms and VIC gifts so who knows?

I am trying to find one good LV store and one good SA and stay with it. But it is really hard, as I live in CA, the local store usually have really long WL. And other of state store seems to be better. However then sometimes depend on the availability of the bag, I might need to go to different store or state to get it
I was trying to get two bandeau (watercolor & blue denim), I almost all call several stores and 1866, they show up on computer said they have it, but then they don't... I was so disappointed (during that process, some out of state SA are nice enough to search for me, but some would said you have to call 1866 to locate it), so it is totally depend on individual SA. so if you find a good one, stay with them!

I honestly have no idea. Becoming a VIC wasn't something I tried to do. If it helps any...the only brown mono bag I own is a Neverfull (the biggest one..), and the rest of my mono items that are not LE are MC.
yeh there's no way u would have to spend over $70k to be a VIC....
My bf's mom and I have not spent nearly as much, but I think we are close to it. I got the only Damier NF that was in the USA. My SA calls me whenever new items comes in and holds it for me in case I would want it. LOL it's sad but I never even need to have my CC with me since I can just tell her to charge my CC since she has it in her system or something. My bf is always amazed when he gets water or drinks whenever we go there. But we're all just riding on my bf's mom coat tails, since she spent the most there

For what it is worth...
I've never, ever received one of those VIC gifts...but I was invited to buy a Sac Louis. So I think we would never be able to not only figure out HOW someone is chosen to be a VIC, and furthermore I don't think most know IF one is REALLY a VIC. They might be a great customer...but are they really a VIC?
I didn't know I was one until the manager of the store told me verbatim and said I was now in the the VIP program...and that was when I bought the Sac Louis. I was given the "treatment"...meaning I utlized the VIC room when I shopped with my children, received the LE items I wanted...despite the waitlist....but I never, ever received one of those so-called VIC gifts.

I don't know if I'm a VIC, but I always get the best treatment from most of the SAs in my boutique. Every SA is very sweet and super helpful to me (I don't know if this because my regular SA is a store manager). 
I always get all the bags (LE or not) I want without being on the list. I do receive some VIC gifts from time to time and was invited to attend all events and parties as well.
The only bag I was interested in getting, but had no chance of owning one is the 'Mon Monogram'. My SA told me that our boutique isn't 'big' enough to be chosen to offer this service.
